  • i needed this song right now......

  • Digimon<3

  • Heard in the trailer for the upcoming film "Harry S. Plinkett and Harriet Plinkett."

  • what a year 1997 was for music. even the bosstones were able to break through to the mainstream. the people buying albums had a good ear then.

  • back when mtv wasn't a pile of shit..

  • @T16Akatsuki

It was always a pile of shit, it was just a matter of time for it to finally show it's corporate jackass face.

  • This was my jam in the summer of 97.

  • I'm interested to find out...

Thumbs up if you had this from the Digimon soundtrack

  • DIGIMONNNNNNNN

  • I wonder how many more views this would have it was called "Knock on wood"

  • good song :D one of my favs ^_^

  • Ska Punk!

  • @TheDymeR It's just called ska

  • @LambOfJesus360

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones are a Ska Punk band.

  • @Vidzstreamer it's just called ska. not ska punk

  • @LambOfJesus360 Actually, it's officially called "skacore". Do a little research.

  • yes!!!! Ska

  • Thumbss up if ypou got herer while drunk

  • i remember seeing the shorter white guy with the dark rim glasses as a kid and thinking he looks so much like drew carrey !

  • Nothing beats the old 90's Ska scene.

  • Almost 20 years later and this song still rules.

  • Donkey Konga was really fun, particularly to this song.

  • The singer sounds like The Jolly Green Giant and Snake from The Simpsons's bastard inbred child.

    Skankin' erry day.

  • 79 fags

  • 79 had to knock on wood

  • I'm sorry but that dancing dude is a complete idiot. He has no purpose being on any of the vids, on stage, or as part of the band.

  • this is one of those songs I play all summer!!!!!

  • GO BOSSTONES, GO BOSTON!

  • if i ever get kids, im guna make them listen to ska, punk etc... cuz ther aint nothn better than this

  • @rjcreeps indeed it is my my friend

  • @rjcreeps why would you "make" them?

  • imma go knock on some wood... so... se yaa!

  • Know what I like about this song? Because it has a ridiculously out-of-place meaning in the culture of rock: "Gee, I've lived a pretty sheltered life. I sure hope nothing bad happens to me, but if it does, I hope I'll be able to handle it." ...When every other song is whining about their life and the pain and agony they're going through. I think in reality, most of us can relate to this song much better than one of, say, Linkin Park's.

  • Absolutely. You know what else is great about this song? It's downright groovy, baby! God damn, I used to dislike most 90s tunes because I prefer 80s music overall, but the 90s STILL cranked out vastly superior music to the shit you hear today. Good call.

  • You make me laugh. You are a silly silly man.

  • i rock this beat on Donkey Konga

  • Our bigband plays this, sounds good, but the original is also good

  • Cool story bro.

  • Love ittttt...

  • this is undisputedly my favorite music video by the bosstones, or any band, for that matter.

  • Personally... I think Rascal King is better but not by much. The Mighty Might Bosstones are one of the all-time greats. I dare to say the Led Zeppelin of ska.

  • digimon soundtrack holy buckets

  • DUDE! brings back so any freakin memories haha!

  • its also in the credits to step brothers

  • so dope a tear came to my eye

  • yes brings back memories, on the sound track of Tony Hawk 1.

  • i dont think this was on Tony Hawk 1, or was it? u may be thinking of Superman by Goldfinger

  • definitly tony hawk 1, played it like 3 days ago on my N64 lol

  • naa dude ur definitely wrong... i just looked up the setlist for the game and this was NOT on there!!! im telling u its the song "Superman" by Goldfinger. look that up and u will agree

  • that is great!

  • DIGIMON SOUNDTRACK

  • the best soundtrack for a childrens movie :)

  • hell fucking yes.

  • por DIOS que recuerdos, estaba finalizando la secundaria cuando esto, que locura

  • lead singer sounds kinda like the singer from rancid

  • I think they've been described as Third Wave Ska. Which began in the early 90's.

  • This song kinda reminds me of Higurashi now. xD BOSSTONES RULE!!

  • I'm 16, and I remember listening to this song (and the rest of the album) when I was really young. Music was awesome back then.

  • classic punk, amazing

  • @wheresuritethumb You mean ska right ;)

  • yeah, i always get what these guys are confused, with punk/ska bands like rancid and how these guys were major with warped tour ive ussualy consided them punk but hey ive never been certain x )

  • WANT TO DO KARATE IN THE GARAGE?

  • i like the bosstones im 13 and people dont know who they are, the music todaty kinda sucks thats the truth

  • amazing songs. second best ska song after point/counterpoint by streetlight manifesto

  • @mranarchy03

I've always been a fan of "Sell Out" by Reel Big Fish, myself.

  • you ever hear point?counterpoint?

  • *point/counterpoint?

  • to day my english 2 teacher is quoted this song and i stood up and was like i love the bosstones. and the rest of the class was like who the fuck are they. god the music to day sucks. and the only reason my name is greendayfan is because i made this account and a shitload of videos when i liked gay music like greenday

  • Theres still good music today, but that upsets me that no one in ur english class knew who they where, I feel as if i should come talk to them, tell ur teacher to set up an assembley, ill be there next Tuesday

  • Everytime you make a comment on youtube do you have to include that disclaimer as to why your name is so bad?

  • lol no just when i say somthing like todays music sucks. because if i didnt then i would be a lying hypocryte.

  • Although I agree that most music today sucks, be fair. There is nothing wrong with Greenday.

  • you mean there is nothing wrong with old greenday. dookie was amazing, but they're heading downhill.

  • I'll admit, they've become a bit more generic. But, i still don't mind listening to their new stuff. At least it's actual music, not prerecorded baselines, warbled beeps and whistles, and a pretty face that can't sing for shit without the remixing they do to their voice singing about sex, i.e., 90% of mainstream swill nowadays.

  • I have a cousin who was friends with a group of guys when he was in high school who had a band called "Swank". They sounded like a mix between these guys and Black Flagg. They were actually quite good.

  • this song will always make me remember the 90's and the Digimon movie =]

  • I know those were good times

  • Bosstones really need a Police Beat Live video

  • This is one of my most favorite songs ever! I love this!

  • haha yes! I just heard this song on a Braves Radio broadcast as they were coming back from a commercial break. Good times.

  • God I miss the 90s.

  • the good old days,,the late 90's where have all these years gone.

  • SKA FTW!!!!

  • Less than jake

    mighty mighty bosstones

    sublime

    the specials

    ALL

    amazing

    ska is the best.

  • Wrong.

  • Whenever I'm feelin' down, I don't listen to Radiohead and get even more depressed, I LISTEN TO MIGHTY MIGHTY BOSSTONES!

    SKA FTW!!

  • Agreed. I can't stand Radiohead.

  • Naah, Radiohead's awesome too ^^

  • Ah, the trials and tribulations this song has gotten me through.

  • Happiest. Song. Ever.

  • We play this in band xP WHS go Wickliffe Swing Band!

  • My band is playing this too!

No one else knows it though, so my trumpet obnoxiously stands out XD

  • This is a fun song to play, though.

  • haha i remember that one guy that would just dance! lol that was actually his job.

  • That's Ben Carr.. he actually does serve a purpose to the band other than dancing (he's the manager). As to why he dances..? Why the hell not?? :)

  • @acitonj They had to make him a part of the band because at one point he was to young to get into certain clubs, so they made him the bands dancer :D

  • probably the kings of ska!

  • My high school band is doing this song. Very fun song to play.

  • my school is doing this song too for marching band :D

  • thats more than rad.

  • classic. this and beer song from reel big fish

  • the beer song is by mustard plug

  • hes talking about a different beer song (the one from BASEketball)

  • I heard this on the radio today! good music on the radio?

  • classic ^__^

  • one of my all time favorite songs. i remember skating in the 90s to that shit!!!

  • awesome.

  • Dude just skanks out. Skanking ftw.

  • It is talking about bad experiences people have, like tragedy, pain, having the odds stacked against you, and so on, and asking the listener whether they have experienced such things. The singer comments that they may be a coward, and it makes them wonder if they could handle it, but they don't WANT to experience these things, and that the impression they get is that the experience is not good (they can't be sure, since they've not experienced it).

  • amazing band reguadless of what the songs about

  • no way i never thoght of that 0.0

  • this was int eh digimon movieO_o only faster

  • Joe gittleman=bassist= best college preffesor ever....woooo!!!

  • He also has an epic title. "Joe Gittleman the Bass Fiddleman"

  • whats this from?

  • is this song about getting an AIDs test?

  • -.-' you didn't just ask that did you? the song is obviously about two friends...one who had a rough life and one who "never had to knock on wood" means never had to worry; nothing to terrible ever gone wrong for them. And they are just describing the differences between them both. Seriously why would this be about AID's???? just LISTEN to the words...not trying to be an ass but you have to take in ALL the words of the song not just the chorus.

  • because of the test reference in the song

  • i heard it's about a friend who unexpectedly tested positive for AIDS/HIV...

"i've never had to knock on wood, but i know someone who has..."

  • supposedly, they said that the "test" they talk about is life rather than an aids test.

  • aids really what the hell its just saying dont give up even when the odds are against you O.O but who knows it might be

  • you'd know a lot about that right, better go tell ur priesr

  • This song is so bad ass! I tell my friends it's about me.

  • Be honest, you don't have any friends :))

  • i don't have friends only on the days that end with y. and who needs friends when there's you tube?

  • Joe the bassist is my fucking professor in college... hes so awsome

  • dude are you serious?

  • dead serious man... i have his class tommarow morning.. we have a test on copy rights lol. but then we get to just hang out with him most of the time and he tells stories about touring and recording and all the stuff hes done.. its awsome

  • thats awesome! you go to lyndon? wow thats cool

  • yeah i go to lyndon!! its so cool

  • seriously? where the hell do you go to school?

  • met too, hahaha LSC!!!!!

fuck yeah he is the fucking shit

  • ska bands love to wear suits

  • gotta love ska

  • just a question why is everyone talking about Richard Wagner? is this song a cut from one of his compositions?

  • CHEWBACCA MASKS!!!

lol i watched stepbrothers and rememberd this awsome song.

oh and i hate rap to :P

  • best song ever

  • thats so true. i'm a freshman myself but most of my friends are seniors and juniors. i hate my class.... they are all cacky assholes

  • ahhhhh....... MTV2 before it went to shit..... I miss these days. Ska was once everywhere, TV, Radio, magazines, etc. What the hell happened? Why is rap now the cool thing? Can anyone tell me why it's cool to present yourself as an un-intelligent person?

  • i honestly think it has to do with the sexual part of rap music. cuz teenagers have those insane hormones and the lyrics about bootys shaking attracts them. lmao. half the time when they grow out of that horny stage in life they stop listening to rap. except the black kids.(and i did not mean any racist remarks by that)

  • That's not racist ha. It's true. I do agree though, goes back to the "sex sells" ideal.

  • haha im a freshman this year too

  • dont believe the seniors dont do anything stupid and just be man just be

  • wow this song brings back memories....it used to be my favorite. Ska really is amazing

  • beautiful horn riff i love this cut

  • I'm not a huge fan of the band and only a casual fan of the genre, but the lyrics of this song are so poignant. If you have ever faced any adversity in your life then you can relate wholeheartedly to this.

  • I saw these guys on a bill with They Might Be Giants, Para Ubu, Cracker, AND Black 47 at UAlbany about 15 years ago. Good Show(s)
