  • I'm an american-egyptian and 2 yrs ago i went to egypt for the first time. the market u went to (Khan Al Kalili) had some good stuff, but those guys see americans comin a mile away and raise the price on everything. i was told not to talk (b/c i speak english) until a price was set when i got into cabs. LOL. but over all did you like egypt. i'm going back in a week? what places beside cairo did you go?

  • Thanks for the comment, we did 2 days in Cairo & saw Memphis, Saqqara etc, flew to Luxor to see Valley of the Kings & heaps of temples. We caught a Nile cruise for 4 days to Aswan & flew back to Cairo. In regard to the vendors selling their wares, we were told to not make eye contact. It was very difficult for us.

  • Ok, u have to go and see Alexandria. It is beautiful. I has more of a "big village feel." and it is easy to find ur way around. I suggest going back and visiting the "non-tourist" places. There are really great resort villages like Marbella that is on the Mediterranean. And as for the eye contact thing, it doesn't matter if u make eye contact or not, they'll raise the prices. u just have to no how to say no.
