  • Did anyone look this up right after watching "Monster"?

I just did. What am amazing performance. She should have won two of them. Because one is just not enough.

  • God!! anyone in the audience saw that movie?? She deserve a better ovation, that performance redefine the word apotheosis!!! Charlize, you are a Goddess!!!

  • Great gag from Brody

  • 1:40 Will Smith is like: "is she going to kiss me too?? hope so!"

  • wtf was this 00:50 here????????

  • She really deserves it! What an amazin performance.

  • Even though I was rooting for Diane Keaton's amazing performance in "Something's Gotta Give," there's no denying that Charlize Theron's work in "Monster" was superlative!

  • Is there anything she can't do? What an amazing actress.

  • Great movie, she was awesome. Not complaining, but it woulda been nice if she'd said something for the victims of the murders that made this film possible.

  • Stuart Townsend *_________*

  • does this have anything to do with lady gaga's monster?

  • @shirusubemonaku you must be new here.

  • @shirusubemonaku no this involves actual talent

  • Omg I WANNA SEE SNOWHITE NOWWWWW MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL!!!

  • Charlize is truly legendary, in such a precious way.. in which she can be compared to any creative like there are 5 year olds who can be compared to her.. their completely one with their energy and dreams.

  • I am excitrd to see Charlize in Snowhite movie with Kristen :)

  • Heath Ledger at 0:58 <3

  • What if Keisha Castle-Hughes had won? The Oscar was well deserved, but Adrien Brody had a chance of getting ready to kiss a thirteen year old girl. That would be awkward O.o

  • I'm curious: Does anyone know why Cristina Ricci didn't attend the ceremony? So sad she wasn't nominated, but shouldn't she be there applauding and all?

  • So beautiful! :)

  • ove charlize theron shes gonna be the biggest movie star in hollywood in 2012 with Prometheus, her Golden Globe(and possible Oscar) nomination for Young Adult and Snow White and the Huntsman all in the one year :) a new queen of hollywood...anyone else agree??

  • @patRAY2k9 I agree 110%

She is THE leading lady in Hollywood today.

And such a BABE to boot!

    STARLET QUEEN for SURE!!!

Nice... smarts... looks... and most important TALENT

That BABE has got it all!!!

Yup she's A+ LIST for SURE

  • people say i look like her. yay. check out my channel and let me know. i dont know if i see it

  • 0:59 Heath Ledger. I know it's about Charlize but it's nice seeing how Heath is happy for Naomi's nomination when he would later win an Oscar.

  • great speech from a great actress.

  • its so sad when she mentions her mom :(

  • most genuine person in hollywood

  • wow check out Charlize's squeeeze

  • Charlize is so cute!

  • Charlize is the cutest woman alive!

  • Did anyone look this up right after watching "Monster"?

  • @billywms haha Actually I did, I just finished watching the movie 5 minutes ago and I was thinking about this so I just had to look it up! LOL

  • @billywms Me!!!!

  • So sad to see Heath Ledger sitting next to Naomi Watts.

  • some former models can really act.:-)

  • heath ledger beside naomi watts.

  • Looking back now... it was kind of a slam-dunk/no-brainer win, wasn't it?

  • Damn you Adrian Brody! He got to kiss Halle Berry when receiving an Oscar and now Charlize Theron!! Jealous!

  • Below and above me are many, many young adults....

  • sowth... afrikaa... hell for white people...

  • She should have said something about the character that make her win the Oscar.

  • @gucynthia like what?! thanks for killing people?

  • @gucynthia Well, I bet you somewhere deep down inside she wanted to sort mention her name on stage. But she couldn't, you have to keep in mind that it wouldn't be a bad idea (after all, she would have never won an oscar without her) and at the same time, you have to feel for the families of the victims. Thanking someone for killing your (husband, son, brother, nephew, cousin, etc) wouldn't actually be a good idea now, would it.

  • she f*cking deserve it!!!

  • she dresses & hairstyled like tanned Marilyn Monroe

  • @suckcandyallday Yeah her gown reminded me of the one Monroe wore when she sung for the President.

  • she looks like Marilyn Monroe

  • 0:58

    wy so serious ?

  • I was rooting for Naomi but that doesn't mean I think Charlize was any less deserving. Fantastic, incredibly gorgeous actress!

  • the moment she spoke about her mum had me in tears, beautiful woman!

  • she deserved it soooo much! beautiful, amazing actress!

  • Theron's performance in that movie was brilliant.

  • will thank myself

  • After seeing Adrien Brody I have no doubts about beauty being an attitude

  • 0:58 Heath Ledger!!!!

  • Rita corny, Michael.

  • my favourite film actresses of all time, love the dress as well love u charlize

  • my favourite film actresses of all time love u charlie

  • FFFFFFFFFFFFFAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!! friends

  • he was getting ready for a kiss with a twelve year old.

  • she's SO gorgeous.

  • She deserved the OSCAR but this speech seems soooo incredibly fake. It doesn't take a movie maker to get that she preared it well, looking at her mirror dozens time to see how it was. Ok many others did it, but she did it so that she could not show any REAL part of her inner personality... She probably prefers to hide it, because she is too vulnerable. Sometimes when actors act, like she did, they show much more of themselves than they think....But of course, this is just a guess.

  • @fabzuc what are you talking about? this speech was incredibly real. the part where she crying thanking her mother? her boyfriend? seemed incredibly genuine to me. she was emotional, together, perfect. and didnt make a blabbering mess like some others ( cough halle berry cough)

  • @fabzuc this is kinda Charlize's personality- if you havent been fallowing her career- she is really good at being emotional and rational. i think she probably had a mental note of the people she was going to thank obviously- but i dont think the emotion behind it and especially the last bit to her mother, country, and boyfriend was in any way fabricated or not real.

  • @fabzuc I thought that was one of the most genuine speeches. You think that moment with her mother was fake? That was real. She's been through a lot with her.

  • monster babe !

  • shit i cried for her just now

  • Why she didn't get an standing ovation?, even Sandra Bullock had one when she stole an oscar!

  • @rocknrolladan too right!!

  • @rocknrolladan maybe she is not American. and most of audience is American.

  • Why she didn't get an standing ovation? Even Sandra Bullock had one!

  • Why she didn't get an standing ovation?? Even Sandra Bullock had one!!!

  • LOL Brody still tried to get him some.

  • shes so lovely, and talented.

  • you are the fairest of them all

  • @DarkOrion27 She looks awesome as the wicked witch! Definitely can't wait for summer 2012 :)

  • @DarkOrion27

My agreement exactly. Somehow even when SWOTH ends, I think KS will fail to top Charlize's beauty.

  • you're the fairest of them all charlez

  • love her so much <3

  • love her so much <3 SO GORGEOUS and love monster

  • so beautiful and so talented.love charlize <3

  • Adrien Brody was lucky that Charlize Theron won, it would've been weird with him kissing Diane Keaton or Keisha Castle-Hughes.

  • how come she didn't mention aileen??!!!!!!!!!!!! i mean i love charlize she was amazing in that movie and a well deserved oscar but WHAT ABOUT AILEEN ??

  • @heavyseptember Aileen was a murderer. What was she gonna say? "Thanks Aileen for killing all those guys!"

  • great speech

  • Well deserved

  • Can't wait to see her in Young Adult. I hear that film's a winner and that she is brilliant in that as well. Hollywood needs to appreciate this great mixture of talent and beauty.

  • That gown is exquisite.

  • Ha Will was sitting behind her in the audience and 4 years later they were in a movie together.

  • @rolftina,

Will looked really happy for her, they've been good friends since they did The Legend of Bagger Vance, which was 3 years before she did Monster.

  • Adrien Brody is such a good looking guy....

  • she's soooo beautiful better than angelina jolie....in my opinion :)

  • @milovela1983 what does Angelina Jolie have to do with her? lol.

  • Heath was banging Naomi and Michelle, fuckin' baller!

  • @MichaelChapman18 now imagine if Heath got with Charlize. That would be the most beautiful couple ever.

  • goddess!

  • keisha castle hughes looks pissed off.....man she was just lucky to be nominated...have some fucking respect

  • I love Charlize's perfomance, but the best of this video is Adrien Brody!

  • HOLY SHIT!! How did they make her look so gross in the movie?!?!

  • she changed soo much in this movie, that my sister was arguing with me and she could not believe me that Charlize play this Aileen

she played this role just geniusly :D

świetna rola ze świtnego filmu Oskar sie należał tyle w tym temacie :D

  • @TheZeratul86 .... don't associate those niggers with her!! Show some respect..

  • heh, Charlize Theron and Stuart Townsend... I don't blame her, hes beautiful. Why did she break him with him recently?

  • After watching Monster, I have to say that an Oscar isn't simply enough for this lady. She deserves something as powerful as the performance she gave.

  • I'd thank my cat if I won, and just him.

  • @ElvisLivesUpstairs i'm pretty sure elvis lives upstairs as well.

  • Poor ol' Diane Keaton(:40) still stuck in her 1977 Annie Hall look.

Wake up, it's a new century!

  • and one Oscar was not enough!

  • they kiss on the lips

  • soo beautiful

  • one of the most deserving oscar win ever!!!!!!

  • @bombayg Correction: This IS the most deserving oscar win ever. Pathethic that this didn't get a standing ovation. Theron's oscar win -- and I dare say it, is more deserving than any of Katharine Hepburn's oscars, Vivien Leigh's oscar for "Streetcar Named Desire", you name it. I'm not the only one who views it this way (see oscar blogs such as Sage Slowdive and Fritz and the oscars)

  • she should have said something to Aileen ..RIP at least...

  • @thegudgurl RIP killer!

  • @thegudgurl Why should she.Aileen was a serial killer she wasn't a pillar of the community.

  • I saw MONSTER a few weeks ago, she is unrecognizable.... Very well deserved!

  • gorgeous woman!! and a well deserved award

  • FUCK she's gorgeous! I have a little poster of her when she modeled for Dolce & Gabbana, and I kept on looking at the picture, then at the movie Monster and couldn't fucking believe it was her!! She did absolutely amazing, and said "fuck" at least 1000 times. ;)

  • i love her<3 such a good actress

  • SHES LOOKS LIKE AN OSCAR THE FILM WAS AMAZING MY FAV EVER AND SHE IS JUST A JOY TO LOOK AT MADE ME CRY WHEN SHE THANKED HER MOM

  • She is so gorgeous.

  • best performance by any actor i have ever seen... unreal

  • One of the beautiest woman ever.

  • 1:37 will smith is happy and saying:"i have to kiss you",and he did that in honcock the motherfucker lucky :p

  • ol

  • She thanks her lawyer ? yeah it works in america

  • She thanks her lawyer ? yeah it works in america hahaha lol

  • what woulda happened if Keisha had won? with the kiss and all xD

  • @YoungFrankenstein .... He'd go for tongue naturally, and she would perhaps hold back at first but she would get into it.

  • what the hell was she wearing.. lol.. 2003 *rolls eyes*

  • @demaru56 Diane Keaton or Charlize Theron? Because Theron's dress is amazing.

  • Adrien deserved an Oscar for that joke.

  • WTF?! 01:55

  • 2:18 Sank you, sank you sank you !

  • Comment removed

  • @dldee912,

Yes, three Oscars for playing himself for 40 years.

  • i bet he had that planned for the whole year

  • her mother shot her father and got away with it, u know if i am ever gonna shot someone, im gonna take em on holiday to south africa, or maybe usa.

  • @INTHEJUNGLE123 It was in self-defense dumbass.

  • @INTHEJUNGLE123

We won't let you in the USA, you're a beggar.

  • Will Smith's face at the end, he looks proud.

Charlize is very beautiful! The change she went through for the movie were incredible and she deserved the award

  • She is so beautiful!

  • What a fantastically gracious speech.

  • The most beautiful woman on this planet.

  • Thank god she didn´t mention god...

  • Just a brief glimpse at Heath Ledger <3

  • That guy , her friend lawyer is so cute it's a sin ..lol..

The smile , the eyes , the face .. We love Charlize , you did your country proud ..

  • I don't get it. Nothing about Aileen Wuornos? Even few words? And everybody are okay with that? Hollywood people are heartless monsters. Charlize Theron is a real monster we have to fight with. Not the beautiful and brave Aileen.

  • @narkissos1994 you are insane. beautiful and brave aileen? do not idolize a murderer and worthless woman such as Aileen. Charlize did her more service in playing her in a compassionate way than anyone in her life. do you thank hitler? interesting character maybe, someone to be ever thanked, NO.

  • @narkissos1994 What is she supposed to say about Aileen? "Oh thank you for killng so many people so I could be in this movie about you". She's not going to thank a killer, she thanked everyone that was involved with the movie which is what most winners do. So you're a supporter of Aileen? Awesome.

  • @narkissos1994 Because she killed 7 innocent people. Why on earth would you wanna Thank a cold-blooded murderer? Remember, the victims families are still alive and around!

  • @vapalaca Yes she was a bad woman, but innocent people?....they werent innocent.

  • @narkissos1994 What does she have to thank Aileen for? For being a serial killer? An inspiration? You're not really making any sense

  • Did you notice that all the nominees were sitting on the right in the same row while Charlize was all the way over the centre.

They couldn't have spelt it out any clearer that she was the winner!

  • I love this woman, she is simply awesome.Great person and great actress.-

  • coz she's the best ! i love her :) ♥ ♥ ♥

  • She's a looker, to say the least.

  • I love everyone who was nominated, but honestly, no one stood a chance against Charlize Theron!

  • @luffyduffy7817 i agree , she was amazing

  • So glad she won, she deserved more than anyone...best performance EVER

  • So sad , Heath Ledger was Naomi Watts date, sitting next to her. RIP

  • @MundyArtStudio .. yeah it is kind of sad that Heath would go with a friend of his rather then his wife, or someone that means alot to him, I mean yeah Noami is a good friend but it really was a low point in his life before he died.

  • @TheUnbeholden You do realize that this event was in February, 2004? At that point in his life he was in a longterm-relationship with Naomi Watts, and hadn't even met the woman who he'd later come to have a child with: Michelle Williams (his wife, who you were referring to).

  • NAOMI WATTS SHOULD BY FAR WON THIS. HER PERFORMANCE IN "21 GRAMS" WAS SUPERB.

  • One of the greatest performances of the decade. On top, along with Naomi Watts in 'Mulholland Dr.', 'Winslet in 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind', Staunton in 'Vera Drake', Cotillard in 'La Vie En Rose', Dench in 'Notes on a Scandal' etc. It's indeed a pity that Bullock for her lousy mediocre performance got a standing ovation and brilliant examples of acting like Charlize's didn't.

  • @JohnTripinTokyo I agree with your list of the best female performances of the decade, although I haven't seen Mulholland Dr. yet so need to watch that soon. I would also add Amy Adams in Junebug. Although it was a supporting role, she was fantastic. And what is the saddest part is that out of the performances you listed only 2 of them won Oscars. Charlize Theron's performance is one of the greatest in cinema history!

  • Great example of a person whos beautiful with heart, soul and body

  • can't believs she didnt give an R.I.P shoutout to Aileen Wuornos who lived and died for the damn script

  • @robZzdaboss yeah yeah.... rip murderer?

  • beautiful, incredibly talented woman..got to love when such a fine actor commits to a role...she totally deserved this award! :))

  • Ew. What an M R F.

  • When I saw this speech, I thought "Oh, she won because she's beautiful." But then I saw the movie, and I got OWNED. Acting at it's finest.

  • @fablyss Absolutely. Genuine performance.

  • she's a godness!

  • I thought she was just another pretty face actress and most others wouldnt go through the transformation she went through to play the role, well deserved oscar.

  • the best movie wins :)

  • Aww she thanked Christina Ricci :) She is truly underrated, not fair.
