Better to be a has been than a never was. The arrogance of nucktards never ceases to amaze me, they are one of the least relevant franchises in the NHL. It must have killed them to lose the Cup, rubbing it in the faces of Oilers and flames fans was more important to them than the joy of winning it. The Canucks will NEVER win the SC. Deal with it.
@TheHockeygod1818 and if your a bruins fan, dont say canucks suck. i know we lost to them in the stanley cup finals but we made it there and we are good.
@MrCanucksOwn yeah ur team is good but ur team choked twice in the final and u have no stanley cups but the oilers AKA my boys have 5........... so fuck u biooootch
@TheHockeygod1818 ok wtf you have no right to talk! real hockey team? and oilers are? carolina also lost there starrting goalie! no excuse! oilers suck and canucks are amazing sure we have no cups who cares we are better than edmonton!
@TheHockeygod1818 oilers fans need to stop living in the 80's, sure edmonton has the better history because you guys had the greatest hockey player of all time. BUT that was over 20 years ago, the last time the oilers made the playoffs higher than the 8th seed was 10 years ago, the last time your team actually had home ice advantage was in 1992, 19 years ago. face it, the glory days of the oilers are long over. from 1991-present it's clear that the oilers are a joke. they got just lucky in 2006.
@TheHockeygod1818 i doubt the oilers will make the playoffs next year, if the do they are sure to be swept. hell, i bet that it will be no less than 3 years till the coilers can even win another playoff series.
@connorrulz Yes. The Oilers were lucky to make it to the seventh game of the Stanley Cup playoffs, to fight for the most distinguished trophy in North America. That's right; luck.
@TheHockeygod1818 wow you fag you know you have a bad team if you need history to prove me wrong... that was when you had a great team with gretzky and shit but now? you guys suck now!
im a Pens fan but i hate the hurricanes too bad the oilers didnt win oh well oilers are going to be like the Pens get high draft picks and then start winning just stick to the plan and believe good luck oilers
I really believed after this game we would win the Cup. I thought we were finally firing on all cylynders after a shitty start to the finals. If Pisani gets the puck 6 inches higher on that 3rd period rebound..............
Amazing finals...in my 31 yrs following hockey this and the 1987 series were my all-time favorites. Many times it felt like 1980's-style firewagon hockey with the end-toend rushes. It's hindsight now buy I really believe the EDM may have won if Roloson did not get hurt. It was a tough loss in gm 7 but CAR played great. Def a tip of the cap to both teams and congrats to CAR for winning the Cup.
..and good for whoreableguy for having the opportunity to be live at the game!
@latinodude85 lol after tonight they better step up, but yeah Go Habs Go!!!
the bell centre is one of the few buildings in the nhl that can get louder then rexall, the sheer number of raucous hab fans is nuts, the way it should be :D
Detroit fans are awesome lol. I hate Pens fans a lot they like to boo at everything that happens to crosby or one of their players. it pisses me off but lets hope the sens win =D.
Yo nate, it is a canadian game, but americans did not steal one. Every Team in NHL has atleast a quarter of Canadian players in their line up lol. Some teams have 90% canadians in their line-ups so ya..no big loss.
i find it really sad that the oilers last playoff game was game 7 of that series... but i also think if the oilers didnt lose roloson in game 1 that they wouldve won the cup for sure
if roloson would have been healthy edmonon woul have won the cup they played hard enough to win that cup. By the way if game 7 would have been in edmonton, carolina would have lost
No. Markannen played amazingly well (as good if not better than Roloson could have done) and Edmonton' loss in the series had nothing to do with goaltending
Game 7 lost them the series. Even if they had emerged victorious in Game 1 (with Conklin in nets or whomever) there's no way to predict how the rest of the series would have turned out. My main point is that people who point the finger at Markannen clearly don't remember the series very well or perhaps didn't watch it at all.
Yea.. regular season Edmonton is ALWAYS one of the quitest buildings. But come Playoffs the city is ready to explode, and we just have so much fun. There Is no arena and fans like Edmonton i truley mean it. The atmosphere is just something you gotta come and join. Its unbelievable. If you love raucous crowd.. edmonton is the place to be in the playoffs. Im watching detroit vs Pitt and the atmosphere just lacks emotion.. I find it werid how they can be calm. Our fans are just nutty lol
even on tv when i was watching the 2006 cup finals, i couldn't believe how loud and into it oilers fans were...even after every goal that was scored on the oilers, the fans would get up and do a 'lets go oilers' chant, LOUD, every time.
Well, it was quiet this year. But there's a reason for that. One of the worst years in a club's history will quiet any crowd down. I've been to quite a few arenas and Rexall is still one of the loudest in regular season when the team's competing. In playoffs, you're right though. It's easily the most energetic and rambunctious.
It's too bad Carolina won that cup because I would have liked to see Edmonton win, if for no other reason than the Oilers have a special place in my heart for beating Detroit in the first round.
u suck no seriously u avoid replying to me cuz u suck and so what we lost in 2006 the stupid avs lost to aneiheim that year but u don't see me posting on anaheim vids saying stuff like the ducks will always have a place in ma heart for beating the avs or saying that about san jose in 2004 or the wild in 2003 or my very own wings in 2002 and 2008 haha get lost fag WINGS 11 STANLEY CUPS
what? pitt won the cup last year and detroit the year before and anaheim and carolina. its been awhile since a canadien stanley cup. i know there hasnt been one in the 2000s last one might have been the habs in 93
whats your point? all american are packed with Candadian talent....so whats the difference? take away the Canadians from America and i gurantee they would never have the cup in America.
Name me an american player that has had a big impact in winning a stanley cup. Now try and name a year when the stanley cup wasnt directly impacted by a canadian player. almost every stanley cup winning team has a canadian goalie and captain. I cant think off the top of my head the last time an american had a major impact in a series.
bill guerin? was a key veteran player for the pens last year scored an ot goal.chris chelios several cups in detriot.I know he doesnt have major numbers but hes a great defenseman and without him they probably wouldnt have won at least one of those. I wasnt saying anything about canadian players i was commenting to something someone said i dont remember what it was now but I think it was something about the 6 canadian teams so i was just throwing it out there lol
Modano....Mike Modano leads all american born players in goals and points. but other than him they don't have too many other players that would make a big impact
Some American players to have major impacts on Stanley Cup wins off the top of my head - Bill Guerin last year, Brian Rafalski in '08...go back even further and there's Jamie Langenbrunner in '03 with the Devils and in '99 with the Stars (along with Modano...and Hull if you want to call him American with his dual citizenship), and Leetch won the Conn Smythe in '94. I understand your point and it's very valid (Canada produces far greater players), but Americans have held their own in my opinion.
I always, and I mean ALWAYS, will go with CBC or TSN's coverage over NBC. There are a lot of local announcers with some of the American clubs that are great too. Doc is great, but the rest of it as you said leaves a lot to be desired.
this game was the last home game for the Oilers that season so obviously they wanted to win very badly and they did. That was an awesome game! I mean the Oilers couldn't have played any better than that! a first career shutout for their backup goalie. 1:01 of this video was the only great save made by Ward.
Yea it was chnaged because the normal Horn was gettign drowned out by the crowd being so loud.. The oilers crowd was averging between 110-116 db's through out thre whole playoffs, it was just insane.
It means 116 decibels. 120 decibels is how loud a jet takes off standing next to it.The Oil crowd actually got re searched and it came out fact, after a home game a fan would lose some hearing for about 15-20 minutes until after the game. Its by far the loudest arena in the league..
i was hoping the oilers would get into the playoffs this year, but they totally blew it after being 5 points ahead of 8th place with about 10-15 games left in the season
I know man, it hurt me soooo bad. That killed my spring. I wanna watch the best team, and loudest crowd do its work, and no we gotta sit back another whole off season, ugh!. Go Oilers. Yea this nbc has turned its mic down, it sucks. CBC has great quailty in there audio, and man it represents the oilc rowd the way it should sound.
I didnt expect the carolina hurricanes to win the cup after this game well ididnt expect them to win going into the cup and ty conklin was the goalie?
Nothing like a playoff goal in Edmonton...crowd got loud enough during that playoff run to the point where they had to make the horn louder, it was getting drowned out. They should've kept it that way, you know the place is going nuts when you can barely hear the horn (and it's a helluva horn, too!)
Man this vid brings tears to my eyes. The oil were so close :(. Oh well, I like our future. We will be a force to reckoned with in a few years when gagner, cogliano, and nilson develop.
Your the only one with that opinion. When i played in moncton they had basicaly the rangers goal horn and the lights would dim and the spotlights would go on the player that scored it sent chills down your back.

Nothing like a playoff goal in Edmonton...crowd got loud enough during that playoff run to the point where they had to make the horn louder, it was getting drowned out. They should've kept it that way, you know the place is going nuts when you can barely hear the horn (and it's a helluva horn, too!)
GO OILERS GO.

Man this vid brings tears to my eyes. The oil were so close :(. Oh well, I like our future. We will be a force to reckoned with in a few years when gagner, cogliano, and nilson develop.

hell the way theyre paying right now if they make the playoffs, the cup is as good as theirs

Is it just me, or did that horn sound different than the one Edmonton usually has?
chrisuncleahmad 4 years ago
Ya, it is different. The crowd was so loud you couldn't even hear the normal horn, so they got a louder one earlier in the playoffs.

It is. They changed it for the second round against San Jose.

ya i hate it too but oilers would of won the cup if they didnt beat anahiem so fast and took the last game seriously
JimmyDasnitch92 4 years ago 2
any goal horn sounds good when its in the playoffs with the crowd going insane
mnaslund19 4 years ago 3
That's the thing though, I want to hear JUST the crowd! Why do they need those horns anyways?? The crowds sound amazing on their own!

goal horns + screaming crowd = tremendous
the goal horn gets the place all wild and everything

i like the horns, i hate when they put music over it on youtube
triggerhappysrt 3 years ago 4
Your the only one with that opinion. When i played in moncton they had basicaly the rangers goal horn and the lights would dim and the spotlights would go on the player that scored it sent chills down your back.
