I did the math, the war has been going on for 8 years now. If I had a kid I could have one within a year so that's 9 years. That kid could say be as young as 14 and have another kid. That makes it 23 years. Then this kid will have to turn 18 to serve which puts it at 41 years of war. I would be 53
I don t agree with Cenk's stance on Afghanistan. We should send more troops and stay there until things become stable enough for us to leave, despite Karzai. The initial withdrawal date seems too soon, but that is only the initial date, as Cenk says. Still, Obama promised to stay the course, and he s doing that now. The question to pose now to Obama on Afgh is whether troops above 30K will be sent before Jul 2011, or if this latest addition will be the last. Nobody has asked this yet.

ok, 30.000 more troops, plus the others that are already fighting, to take 'em out, it would take months for the gov't to give the order, and it would take way more to get all those soldiers, with weapons, tanks, equipment, back home, if he did withdrew forces in 2011, he wouldn't send more troops, and he would've started to withdraw in 2009-2010, it's a long process, a year couldn't even be enough, it's not like putting a soda in the fridge and taking it out.

I did the math, the war has been going on for 8 years now. If I had a kid I could have one within a year so that's 9 years. That kid could say be as young as 14 and have another kid. That makes it 23 years. Then this kid will have to turn 18 to serve which puts it at 41 years of war. I would be 53

I don t agree with Cenk's stance on Afghanistan. We should send more troops and stay there until things become stable enough for us to leave, despite Karzai. The initial withdrawal date seems too soon, but that is only the initial date, as Cenk says. Still, Obama promised to stay the course, and he s doing that now. The question to pose now to Obama on Afgh is whether troops above 30K will be sent before Jul 2011, or if this latest addition will be the last. Nobody has asked this yet.

Obama never claimed that he was against doing what needs to be done in Afghanistan, so I don't see how he "lied". This all comes down to Obama having to clean up after Bush's fuck-ups, as always. If Bush had acted intelligently in Afghanistan 7 years ago, keeping the pressure on the Taliban fighters that remained and on Al-Qaeda, maybe things would be different now.

Did you know the man who writes George Bush's speeches does the same for Obama, I mean i know that doesn't mean much but that's one reason the rhetoric sounds the same. Obama said he was going to intensify the Afghan war & expand the war to Pakistan THE ENTIRE TIME HE WAS RUNNING for president. We aren't leaving Afghanistan unless we're forced to, and the Humanitarian Reasons we're supposedly there, are Bullshit, it's all about RESOURCE CONTROL, and Power / Influence in the Region.

What is the goal? There never has been an achievable goal. We can kill as many terrorists as we want... more will come to replace them. If we want to end terrorism, we need to make their country more livable, make them happier... make them like us... we can't kill them and expect results. One crazy guy is all it takes to blow up a building--you don't need a terrorist network for that.

ok, 30.000 more troops, plus the others that are already fighting, to take 'em out, it would take months for the gov't to give the order, and it would take way more to get all those soldiers, with weapons, tanks, equipment, back home, if he did withdrew forces in 2011, he wouldn't send more troops, and he would've started to withdraw in 2009-2010, it's a long process, a year couldn't even be enough, it's not like putting a soda in the fridge and taking it out.

Yeah, does no one pay attention. Obama's stance was that we were fighting the wrong war in Iraq and that we should focus where the real was wsa Afghanistan. He said he was going to focus there, not withdraw. God, read the news every once and a while.
