Why do I lose some of my waves after a haircut?

I just started waving and i have waves on the top of my hair. When i get a cut with a 1/4 guard, my hair is too long to see the waves and when i get a cut with a 1/8 guard, my hair is too short and the waves are cut off and just looks like lines on my scalp. HELP! what kind of guard should i use because i wolf and after a cut it looks like no progress. plz HELP!

Nice presentation Soulseeka. I've had waves since I could remember, however I always have frizz to go w/ it. I have an Irish/Afirican-American grade of hair so it's alot thicker than average and usually comb my hair to maintain it.  However I was wondering if you could tell me what non-damaging product would you suggest to keep the frizz down and the shine healthy.

ok i have a ? will i had 360 waves 4 about 5 monts now so i got my hair cut n got my waves again so i im wolfing my hair out its been 5 weeks so far n i can not get dem back n im wolfing so i was thing will i have to get a hair cut r can i get a wave perm so wat u think

Another tip i used is: When I first week i get my haircut i wont wash it. I get a spray bottle with water and a wash rag. I spray a little water in my hair and wipe it dry in the direction of my wave pater with the rag. This way i can keep my hair clean with out washing out my waves.

i used to have a problem with my rite side till i got it cut really low and started brushing it ALOT and then when it got thick enough i put hot water in it after putting murray's grease in then i brushed some more and put my du rag on. the next day they were coming in 360. How do i get them to get deeper?
