one of the guys who recently won the long drive wrote an article in golf magazine and its so useful, if u can get ur hands on it read it. im 5 ft 5 120 pounds in gr 10 and i averaged 150 yards and max about 185 until i read the article, no joke i can hit max like 220 now. and for a small guy like me thats unreal and straight too. noo hook and shit

@Loads24 ya i drive 220-225 and average short game so irons and shit is like 150. ya youu probably just gotta better swing than me, like i said just by reading the tips i added about 30-40 yards to my drive and i havent even come close to mastering my swing i still fuck up some times, the clubs u use help too u probly gott better clubs i just got Rams

@Sp33dyMik3 I use a Taylormade R9 stiff shaft. I've only been playing for half a year without any lessons though... well paid lessons at least.

i dunno how many yards but i hit about 220 metres :/ thats maximum so whatever that is in yards :)

most amatures dont hit it as far as they think, its got nothing to do with being young or old or how strong you are it's all about speed!club speed and stance n weight movement, the 15 yr old prob can hit it that far

i dont know man, i hit 3 wood on the 10th at my course, springfield. the hole plays a bit over 290 and i consistantly get on the green off the tee. im 17 and my 6 iron headspeed avg is 101. i wouldnt be so quick to judge.

You have to remember that these guys are using customized clubs that would not be suited to the normal Pro's outfit. The shafts in particular are much longer which results in less accuracy.

actually golf digest did a story on longer shaft vs shorter shafts and the testers all did better with the longer shaft, longer and straighter. just the bad shots were really bad, that's the downfall, and rick barry shot underhanded freethrows because he made over 90%. shaq should be doing it, wilt did for a while and it worked for him too.
