The "damage" done by magpies to songbird eggs is overestimated. It is part of nature. Songbirds are not really threatened by magpies, their magpies simply control their number. A magpie eating an egg is as natural as a human eating an egg or a cat eating a young bird. What is immoral is hunting magpies when you don't need them for food.

A magpie is a very beautiful bird, but still if you know how much damage a magpie can do on eegs, young songbirds and other wildlife, you will understand why you need to hunt them.
