  • One more thing, about Isaiah 40: 22. I looked up the translation, and "circle of the earth" does not refer to the circle we know of. It means the "whole earth" or "circuit of the earth" (whatever that means). Anyway, it is wrong to call earth a circle, as we know it.

  • So, god says "love and obey me or I will send you to burn forever"? Wow, thats one immature god. Kind of like a jilted ex-lover.

  • @qigong1001 But you see, it is kind of a "jilted ex-lover" situation. Of course, the difference is, He seems to have made everything and everybody and isn't just another fellow human who has no right to ask that of us. God points out that hell was "prepared for the devil and his angels", the original rebels, not for us. He is also fair, He says "to whom little is given, little is required" and vise versa too. It's for our own good to love Him, because He made us that way. Trust me, I know.

  • @nevadaPilgrim I don't trust anyone who says "Trust me, I know." Neither should you. Further, if "He made us that way" then he also made those who don't believe that the bible is the word of god in "that way." And why do you believe this story about "the devil and his angels?" Because it is in the bible?

  • @qigong1001 Ok, so don't trust me. I just meant that I've found this out for myself too- Whenever people follow God's way to live, they find true peace and purpose. When we decide our own rules, it always ends in messed up lives and misery, divorces, regets, suicide, etc... An example? When people follow the bible's pattern for marriage (one man- one woman for life; sex in marriage only; sacrifice and respect in both partners), men and women are happy and fullfilled. I do know this. I live it.

  • @nevadaPilgrim Many practice exactly what you said, monogamous relations with sacrifices without the bible. And many are happy. Others are not. You don't need to be christian. In fact, if you study your history, you will learn that monogamy predates christians. The Babylonians practiced it, and others I can't recall. For the most part, many "christian" tenets are assimilated from other cultures. You assume that "your own rules" are drunken orgies and other fallacies they teach you.

  • @qigong1001 Of course monogamy predates christianity. It was practiced long before the Babylonians. But God and His created order existed long before any culture. Even the most isolated, "primitive" cultures have laws that are often very similar and indicate that man is born with an inborn knowledge of good and evil and of the existense of a God. There's a reason that the bible is the world-wide best seller for over 1500 years running now and will continue to be. Because it contains the Truth.

  • @nevadaPilgrim No, just because many people utilize something or believe something for a long time does not make it "Truth." For example, the fact that the earth is flat and the center of the universe. Virtually everyone in the West and East believed it for thousands of years. It was false. Might does not make right. And, looks like you don't have a response to the point I made about "nonbelievers" who live "by their own rules" without living wayward lives. In fact, most are quite moral.

  • @qigong1001 To your first point- Yes, that's true. For example, the "fact" of macro-evolution. Also, although the "official" church probably helped squelch round-earth believers, the bible had pointed out for a long time that the earth is round. (Isaiah 40:22) Too much of religion has been for political control and not to help people follow Jesus. And no, the "right-wing", war-mongering, materialistic, hypocritical American church does not represent Jesus. Very few do today.

  • @qigong1001 I do have a partial response. If most nonbelievers (most of the worlds population are nonbelievers) are quite moral, why isn't it working? Why isn't there world peace and equality? You can't blame all the atrocities in the world scene on the few who aren't "quite moral". Racism, ethnic cleansing, and other oppressions are often fueled by evolutionistic "survival of the fittest" concepts followed to their literal conclusions. "Quite moral" is not equivalent with Christ-like.

  • @nevadaPilgrim Isaiah 40,22 is no better than the "four corners of the earth" the bible talks about. The earth is not a circle; it is a sphere. Anyway, I accept what you say that religion has been coopted by the wrong people. But that is all religions. The same goes for science (see my video debunking new age cults and their science of miracles).

  • it is a fallacy that evolution promotes ethnic cleansing. I can make the same illogical point, that the bible is a genocidal book influencing racism, etc.. For those who understand evolution; they see that RACE IS AN ARTIFICIAL CONSTRUCT. Evolution actually blurs the line between races. If one misuses it then that is beyond discussion. Those who dismiss "Survival of the fittest" simply don't get it. Fittest has nothing to do with "strong" "superior" or other nonsense the church lies about.

  • @qigong1001 Fair enough, abuses of a system of belief don't discredit it completely. Yes, science is proving we are all one race. We could probably go on idefinately on the nescesity of Jesus, but even He said one time; "those that are well need not a physician" He came for those who want him and see their need of Him, no one else. Anyway, thanks for not lowering yourself to name- calling or ranting too much. A chinese proverb- "he who throws the first stone has run out of ideas". Peace to you.

  • @nevadaPilgrim Thank you too. This is the way all youtube exchanges should be. Open, honest, no personal insults. We need more like you. Thanks. Peace.
