I think they've realized how many games were so much better in 2D. Mario may have been all right in 3D much like Sonic too, but it's just not the same.

Episode one will have Sonic as the only playable character. Maybe Episode 2 will add Tails, and then Knuckles in Episode 3, just like the classic trilogy.

Yes they are still working on it (The Game is still under develop) and it not Sonic's Full running speed (Confirmed by Sega themselves) but Sonic Fanboys are still complaining about it

All I'm gonna say is that the gameplay this trailer, which they are using to promote the game, is showing, doesn't even match up to the DS games.
It is an arcade game. (as in, Xbox Live Arcade, not coin op arcade). And it definitely shows. It looks like other such games as Cloning Clyde and Turtles in Time Reshelled. Has that same "low budget" look and feel to it.
I mean for gods sake, the trailer shows that Sonic apparently doesn't even have a freaking RUNNING ANIMATION. Just a "walks while moving fast" animation. He trots.

I'm telling you flat out why I don't like the look of this.
1) The animations shown are pitiful
2) The gameplay shown is beyond retro, straight into degression
3) It is essentially a flash game, if you know anything about game development, then you'd know how to recognize the obvious visual signs. The animations alone are a dead giveaway. This will be for the Arcade, and it definitely shows how low budget it is.
1.none of those animations are of actual gameplay except for those from 26-28. the animation itself was crappy everyone can see that, but the actual gameplay doesn't look anything like that.
2. the gameplay is retro because it's fun.that's not a bad thing, this is sonic we're talking about.going but to FUN gameplay instead of retarded, fail ass gimmicks isn't degression.

Mmm yeah thats the problem with modern 3D sonic games today. But they really excelled with Sonic Unleashed. The day time levels are fantastic. it shows real speed and thats what sonic is about. also Sonic Adventure 2 just the best sonic game ever :) but yeah you can't really make a sidescroller too fast otherwise most of the games is either a blur or you'll run into too many things
I rly hate this new same design sonic, why they redesign to be like the classic, looks like they rip off anims from sonic adventures...But finally a true SONIC game.
I think after this they should work on "Sonic Adventure 3" since it took like 16 years to finally come up with another sequel to the "Sonic the Hedgehog" franchise...and no more spin-offs!!!
This game wouldn't exsist if there wasn't a download option, get over it. Sega has said it time and time again that it is to much a financial risk to released a full 2d sonic game.
They could do it but they would have to add in shitty cut scenes, and gimmicks to make it into a full "content" game.

yeah he did, but there is a bit of mystery surrounding it, he didn't want to make a big thing about it, but yes, he was involved in the music for sonic 3, go back and listen to the music for sonic 3, it is very MJ-esqe.
You guys I'm sure they'll fix the running animation, they always fix the little things that people tend to whine about in the beginning (i.e Sonic's constant "YEAH!" in the Unleashed trailer and the super shiny models in Black Knight).

The main intention is to re-visit the original 16-bit experience and developers doesn´t need too much space to do that, making retailing copies would be way too expensive for SEGA
Although since is an Episode game don´t count out the posibility of realising a disc with all episodes in one disc
sonic the hedgehog 1,2,3 (nostalgic), sonic advance 1,2,3 (excellent!!!), pinball, sonic adventure 1&2 (blew me away) - the rest (not as good, but fun; very very fun so no angry complaints from me coz i was entertained as f**k)... keep the sonic the hedgehog series 2D and focused on sonic (make a character select screen 4 others so that sonic aint screwed), keep the 3D franchise of sonic&others as close to ADVENTURE as possible (good storylines) and then all's good...

no it didn't take them 16 years... they abandoned the series after sonic r and tried again on the dreamcast with sonic adventure 1 and 2 then heroes and all those other crap sonic games. they announced needlemouse last september which means they probably started work on it then

In every way, shape and form, it looks like a flash game. This isn't mindless complaining, this is basic observational abilities.
Also, retuning to the original genesis games is a major step backwards. That style is wholly outdated by today's standards.

Cute. You seem to be missing the point of a trailer.
To show the gameplay. This is a teaser trailer, which shows SOME gameplay.
And what is shown, is amazingly lackluster.
That is my point. I will have to wait for a full trailer showing more gameplay, to see if I am proven wrong.
Until then, I am wholly in the right here that it looks like a typical XBLA low budget flash game. Only commenting on what they have shown.

It's not uncommon that these trailers don't show very much content.
But it looks like you're judging a whole game just because of a few seconds of gameplay where you can mostly just see Sonic jumping on enemys in different polygons and bits until you see him running through a spiral in Green Hill Zone.
We don't know enough about the game to properly judge it...
I don't care how it looks, when the gameplays good.

I grew UP on Sonic. I know exactly what the old games were like.
I'm saying, this looks CHEAP. I aint judging no cover, i'm judging the game, that they have SHOWN.
Cheap character models, cheap animations, simple as that. You don't even need a full second of gameplay to realize THAT.

It's from around when the game had just been announced to be sonic 4, and was going to come out during the summer, and the game got a delay till Q4 of this year, if you honestly truly think there won't be any difference between this and what we see at the end of the year. you know nothing about game development at all, you can say whatever you want in reply, but i'm not taking you seriously anymore, oh and thanks for replying to a 5 month old comment.

you're complaining about less than 3 seconds of what's more than likely early beta footage. there are still months of development for this game. and about the running animation, they've already state he's not running his fastest in this teaser, so when he's at top speed it doesn't look like that.

Mmm yeah thats the problem with modern 3D sonic games today. But they really excelled with Sonic Unleashed. The day time levels are fantastic. it shows real speed and thats what sonic is about. also Sonic Adventure 2 just the best sonic game ever :) but yeah you can't really make a sidescroller too fast otherwise most of the games is either a blur or you'll run into too many things

This game wouldn't exsist if there wasn't a download option, get over it. Sega has said it time and time again that it is to much a financial risk to released a full 2d sonic game.
They could do it but they would have to add in shitty cut scenes, and gimmicks to make it into a full "content" game.

The main intention is to re-visit the original 16-bit experience and developers doesn´t need too much space to do that, making retailing copies would be way too expensive for SEGA
Although since is an Episode game don´t count out the posibility of realising a disc with all episodes in one disc

sonic the hedgehog 1,2,3 (nostalgic), sonic advance 1,2,3 (excellent!!!), pinball, sonic adventure 1&2 (blew me away) - the rest (not as good, but fun; very very fun so no angry complaints from me coz i was entertained as f**k)... keep the sonic the hedgehog series 2D and focused on sonic (make a character select screen 4 others so that sonic aint screwed), keep the 3D franchise of sonic&others as close to ADVENTURE as possible (good storylines) and then all's good...
