  • i was in vegas several years ago and she was playing at a tiny little club and i did not go to see the show. i'll always regret that decision.

  • not to sound like a d. bag but i like jhonny cash's version better...its still good though.

  • @vincereviews How a not original version could be better than the original? The author only know every thing about the song an can sing it perfectly. You said that just because you are a Jhonny Cash's fan !

  • @lafollealahachette im not just saying that because im a jhonny cash fan i just like the tone he sings it better.

  • @lafollealahachette "The author only know every thing about the song an can sing it perfectly"

well that sweeping generalisation is not true at all, whatever little sense it makes. and are people not allowed to state preferences?

  • She could sing the side of a cereal box and make it sound awesome.........

  • I cry to this song. I love Sheryl Crow. :)

  • Much tighter and better than the later years Redemption Day live efforts from Ms Crow. And closer to the Cash cover, which to be honest shows how great the song itself is by just blowing the original away.

  • @baldryk82

This is the original song ! I'm not sure to understang exactly what you said but this song was wrote by Sheryl Crow and not by J. Cash.

  • @lafollealahachette Meaning that Sheryl Crows more recent live versions of it are not as tight as this 96 one, and not as good. And Cash's American VI cover is so much better than any of Crow's renditions. She wrote a great song, but he did it better justice.

  • @baldryk82 I complitly disagree whith this idea, you said that the others version of Sheryl Crow are not so good but this version is amazing as the record version and we will never know if the others versions of J. Cash would be better. In fact the versions of Sheryl Crow are better because she wrote this song and she realy feeling what she are singing, it's not the fact of J. Cash, I just have this impression to listen to a lullaby.

  • @lafollealahachette @baldryk82 sheryl crow on the other hand, is musicly one of the capable female artist the industry has ever seen, but didnt manage her image well commercially, which is without a doubt also a huge part of the game.

To position yourself as an outlaw is a smart commercial move, thats why the market is so big for the hiphop circus with all the little rappers, as well as there is a market for crappy italian movies glorifying small time crocks, played by al pacino and the likes.

  • @baldryk82 speaking of live performances, her recent version at the Pantages theater (2010) is the best so far: watch?v=omxLrmnRMbs

  • @baldryk82 johny cash's covers of redemption day, just as reznor's hurt and nick cave's mercy seat are very average. they sells because he built up a credit during his years as an artist, and that image and the way of conduct with it had been a inexhaustible source for further commercial exploration, an easy way as you will, which is not always helping an artist to grow and explore himself musically.

  • @baldryk82 Those fake rebels are in reality a distortion and distraction of the real struggle of the commen people in favor of the ruling power, and a mockery to the real revolutionaries. A distraction in the sense that it lures away people's attention from and acknowledgement of the deeper meaning and necessity of struggle of the common people, misdirect their fighting spirit into cosumerism. As a result young people these days senselessly riot and party way their wasted ganster wannebe youth.

  • @baldryk82 Al those fake rebels act as Establishment's boogymen and provide it with fresh excuse to unleash 1984 under the pretext of striving for a save society, while creating division among the people as a big part of the public, scared like a horde of sheep, will be cheering for the coming of 1984.

Although i do tolerate johny cash more than those circus monkeys of these days.

  • @baldryk82 Back then there was at least authenticity in the harsh reality at the bottom layer of the society as one can see in the Cash's footage in san quentin, filled with genuine people whom life had not been so kind to and as an result of that, who had not been so kind to life in their turn, real people one can relate to, to a certain level and empathize with, unlike the zoo san quentin is today.

  • One of my FAVORITES By Sheryl!

  • I love this song ...

  • This song is truly beautiful...Johnny Cash has a new version of it coming out on his American VI album due out 2/23/10...His version is also amazing...And, it's the best track on the album bar none!!!

  • damn.....i love this song....growing up listening to her....Wooohooo

  • I think it's her best song and I'm happy to can seed them to other fans :)
