  • i really like the drums on this

  • fucking hell, i love scott walker.

  • I think Bowie found something here that was commercially exploitable and did so. While Walkers genius is work is of the "high Art" caliber, Bowies genius is that of translating for the common man. Walker is an artist that dimensionally sculpts in sound and words, his work is transcendent, it cannot be explained only experienced. In a culture where most everything is spoon fed, most of his work is just beyond commonality. I know this though. "Like all our highest aspirations it will last as long

  • Easy one for Bowie to cover, he sounds a lot like him

  • Bowie doesn't touch this........

  • @thebadger13 i concur

  • Chorus is almost close to perfection.

    Such an influential song.

  • David Bowie recorded a version in 1993, and . . . .

    it was SHIT.

  • I was aware of SteveO's comment regarding Bowie, Walker's influence on him, and dating his ex-girlfriend. Although an extreme Bowie fan, I went listened through half of the song and thought it was David! 200405invision below accurately describes some Sound & Vision with his remarks concerning Walker's influence on Bowie. I had never read this, but I just had to listen to the song.

  • I still think that Bowie was influenced by Scott Walker and many have missed this point. Throw in a bit of Roxy Music / Eno for good measure too. But this track is from 1978- and after Low & Heroes. Vocally Bowie did change his singing style mid to late 1970's and the influence was for me Walker. Musically here though, I think the Bowie / Eno/ Visconti sound had an effect on Walker's career. This track is so derivative of the track Heroes imo that cross pollination is so obviously evident..

  • @200405InVision Fair enough, but obviously you know how much effect Neu! and Harmonia had upon the 'Berlin sound' of Bowie/Eno/Visconti. The pollination is coming at all angles!

  • @200405InVision quite correct!!!

  • Bowie did not betray the original. Still i think Walker has a cosmo-melancholic mood one cannot imitate.

  • @maruthamarutha 'cosmo-melancholic' - that's a beautiful turn of phrase...

  • This is not from the 60s it was released in 1977 was the third album in the comeback

  • How could someone so good looking possess

    these magnificent attributes?

  • Man, incredible. I just keep thinking, "no WAY is this from the 60s....."

  • Way ahead of its time. Hypnotising. Excellent song!!! Thank you Walker Brothers!

  • @gvida5 No. Thank you, Noel Scott Engel.

This may have been titled walker brothers, but this was all Scott.

    Research my friend.

  • I love this song.

  • Nite flights...its like cosmic.excellent song.

  • About 30 years ahead of its time.

  • classic

  • Great video, love all those 60's pic sleeve 45's. The song is essential listening.
