hi. anyone knows if these Rachmaninov songs are/can be played by solo piano performance? i only know of 'lilacs' as both song and piano piece the same time
It is a love song , one of those masterpieces of music Rachmaninov knew so well to write !!!
it needs good breathe support ,a very good low register and above all a big soul !! I do also like Obraztsova' s interpretation in this song , which is so wonderful ! i envy those who sing it , bcs it is not for my voice . The Great Sergey wrote it either for baritone or mezzo - soprano ...what a pity .....
For anyone who doesn't know it, this is the ninth song from Rachmaninov's Op.14 set, and musically related to the second movement of the First Symphony (Op.13).
not as the moon, but as the noon. :)

Dmitri has sung this wonderful song so many times. But every time he sings it he puts everything into it, as if it is the last.

Should be "She's as fair as Noon" (the second line is: She's as mysterious as midnight.)
But thank you VERY much for uploading!

Она как полдень хороша
Она загадачней полночи.
У ней неплакавшие очи
И не страдавшая душа.
А мне, чья жизнь борьба и горе
По ней томитьса суждено!
Как вечно плещущее море
Б безмолвный берег влюблено...
