  • Dude wtf you had a tv then blured the screen and wala it turned into a computer...

  • It wont work :'(

  • No person born after the 80's will ever know the glory that is the Program Manager.

  • Use a USB mouse... Makes it WAY easier to control.

  • You know what you should have done? Used Calmira to make Win 3.1 look like Win 95.. That would've looked cool.

  • why not windows 286? i like the high contrast color in it.

  • You are terrible at minesweeper. But so am I so it really doesn't matter. The game blows anyway. Real cool.

  • that's stupid

  • @SimMegamanKewi

Not enough furrys in it for you?

  • why does the sound not work in 3.1

  • @abeckring Considering the fact that the Wii cannot and will not work with XP as it is not DOS compatible and the Wii does not meet the absolute minimum hardware requirements. (CPU-wise, mainly)

    What's wrong with 3.11?

  • If you can get xp on there, I will love you fro life.

  • Do i actualy need loadmii?

    i have installed homebrew channel.

But i just dont want t brick my wii by installing loadmii to my OS!

  • @FrubberDucky Win 98 IS DOS-based, as is ME.

  • @VaderNES I know it is, I was referring to the fact that windows 3.1 struggled to boot and 98 has about 3 times the requirements. As I said, back then; Nobody yet has got windows 98 to run.

  • @FrubberDucky Actually, somebody totally got it to run. It just took over ten minutes to boot.

  • @FrubberDucky Then how you can even boot it on PSP... It should at least boot. Wii is technically superior than psp.

  • @pirosoffaireyes The MHz myth. Different architectures are different. The wii is PowerPC and the PSP is MIPS. It also depends on how well ported the emulator is. This was done with the very first release of DOSBox for wii. I haven't played around with it since then. It doesn't matter what version you can get to run really, even something this basic will be unusable due to emulation constraints.

  • @scheitinjebroek tht looks like windows 7 to you? dumbass

  • how do u do this??

  • How did u do that?

  • That seems relatively pointless. I have Windows 3.1 on an IBM 386 machine, that makes sense. I least I can install and play games that were made for it and run 3.1 applications.

Now get the Wii to read PC CD roms and store a virtual C:\ drive in a flash card, and I will be impressed.

  • @jeremysart C:\ on an SD card, and a DVDX-like thing for CDs. How would that be?

  • yknow DOSbox can mount any directory you give it, so what you said is already doable, and was in fact done to make this video?

  • @jeremysart WTF do you think the disc drive is for, and you set any folder as a C drive, plus, you can load files onto the fash memory

  • @jeremysart

The wii's dvd rom hardware is unable to read cd's. In dosbox, both C: and D: exist on the SD card (by default). Dosbox also supports usb flashdrives & hard drives.

  • I wonder if I can get Civ 2 to work this way. I'm guessing it will, since the wii easily meets the system requirements.

  • yeah :D

  • You sure can use google well.

  • Im saying you should use google instead of asking others. The information isnt hard to find.

  • Good Question! I always used to wonder that for a long time, until I discovered WiiBrew, the official website. Use an exploit for nintendo to accomplish what you want. You may need to use a different version of the exploit depending on your system menu version. Good Luck! Send me a YouTube personal message if you need more help.

  • you download it put it on your sd card put your sd in your wii click on the sd menu at the bottom of the wii menu it will ask you something say yes install the homebrew channel and there you go

  • how can i type anything on dosbox?

  • how about buying an USB-keyboard?

  • [easy] plug in a usb keyboard

[hard] When in DOSbox, press HOME and click on keyboard.

  • win 3.1 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> win 7

  • Hax.

  • OLDDDDDDDDDD SCHOOLLLLLL!!

  • I Tried this many times, but each time I get a black screen after the setup. I tried changing the machine setting in the .conf, but when I put it in vgaonly mode, dosbox won't open.

  • lol freakishly slow. i can see why. play doom dont waste your time

  • This is actually Windows 3.11 for Workgroups.

It boots almost instantly on a PIII with 128 MB RAM.

  • Lets try install windows 98 or 95 :D

  • Or what about Vista

  • Yes because x86 emulation on the wii is so fast. 3.1 is sluggish same with 95.

  • Or what about Windows 7, it can rum on very old comps , so it might run good on the Wii

  • Zelda:

    You've GOT to be kidding!

  • Do you think you could try to get fallout to run. it's not working for me. I get a black screen after I run the install

  • its one thing to port solitaire for the wii, but its a whole another thing playing the real deal on the wii!!!!

  • I only did it for solitaire I can't live without it :O.

  • How'd you get Win 3.11 to work in DOSBox on the Wii? I've got it working on DOSBox for PC but when I try to use it on the Wii version it just hangs at a black screen. The Windows logo doesn't even come up.

  • Easiest way is to use the custom installer for 3.11 and select EGA display drivers.

  • Ah. I was using a pre-installed version with SVGA drivers.

  • I used vga and it worked ^_^

  • Hey, I noticed the Warcraft is supposedly working. Could anyone post instructions on how to get it working? I've tried everything I can. Please help

  • OMG! I'm going to try in my wii, but I think Whiite Linux it's better, but anyway this is a progress of the Wii scene/

OMG! Lo probare en mi wii, pero pienso que Whiite Linux es mejor, pero de todas formas es un progreso para la Scene de Wii

  • yes well it was like 15 years ago. Technology has moved on several times since then. 90's where epic anyway.

  • No es una tontería. Que tu no le veas utilidad no significa que no la tenga. Un ejemplo podría ser para jugar juegos clásicos de Windows en el Wii.

  • Awesome :) I just started playing around with dosbox for wii and I'm having fun! Don't have any old windows disks around.. oh well..

  • Which dosbox.conf settings are you using for running this?

BTW, Win3.1 on Wii looks way too cool

  • Default with a few lines from a psp one. I installed 3.1 on the wii with the default. Just the mouse would lag in windows and buttons where hard to click. They still are thats why I used my keyboard in this vid :)

  • Thanks for proving this possible - I'm hesitant to believe most crap on gbatemp etc. til I see it.

P.S. Would original (2D) Grand Theft Auto be a possible candidate for the Wii port of dosbox?

  • Im not sure wether that would work as it is a fairly demanding game, I will have a look into it.

  • Thanks - it's the one game i'd like to see on the wii somehow.

Wiisx is another option once it gets a bit more stable. Other than that I will have to make do with GTA Advance on the GBA emu :(

Thanks again for gettin me to notice the existence of a wii dosbox!

  • It doesnt work, it code dumps :(

  • are you using a USB flash drive? if so you need to put it in before you load the program.
