Tarja is the best performer for this song from any point of view.

I suggest Floor's fanatics to check their ears.

Floor is out of tune on this song and her vocal conduit is not at all a quality one.

Of course Tarja has the advantage of practicing the song more, but Floor's performance OF THIS SONG is low quality.

Don't care about who prefers what but get real and drop the fangirling.

So much better than Tarja, even when I love Nightwish's version, Floor sings this song much better and with a better technique than Tarja, and reach the last E better than Tarja.

It would be nice if Nightwish asks her to act once as guest, I'd love to hear Floor singing this song with Marco =)

It's not the only thing to be considered. For example, Tarja doesn't even get close to the drive I've heard Floor impose with her voice. come on, people can't be serious with their comparisons. First of all you are comparing a ONE-TIME live performance to Tarja's who has done it many many times and to a DVD recording -end of an era-. You can see that Floor is not experienced with the song, she almost did the wrong vocal line at 3:21 and missed a breath. Nevertheless, she did an amazing job with using a darker, more dramatic tone than she usually does and hitting the E6. Plus, she does a MILLION other things with her voice

I agree with the fact that hitting a particular high note is not essential.

I don't agree with the rest though.

- Tarja performed this song identically for many years with NW, not just on End of era.

She sometimes sings it now in a different, dramatic way.

- The last "note" from Floor is not an E6 but a Db6 and it's more of a scream than a note.

- Floor does some things with her voice that Tarja does not (growling for eg) but also does Tarja.

No! Even Tarja reaches the last note! Just one singer has reached that note and is Anne Nurmi with the Lacrimosa's Phantom of the Opera version. Just listen that song with Lacrimosa and give your point of sight :) of course, I like most the Nightwish' version!

@SundownWarrior As both Tarja and Floor active listener, I must disagree. I TOTALLY prefer Floor over Tarja, but that is because many other aspects of their voices. Saying Tarja can't sing the ending vocals "studio-like" just makes me wonder if you've ever really listened to her -both studio and live-. Personally, I just believe there's no comparison between this and End of an Era's version from Nigthwish.

Now, if you personally don't like Tarja, that's just another thing.

@DarkerMary Well, I'm a great fan of Nightwish and there is nothing of them I haven't listened really. I've heard Tarja singing with Nightwish and now in her solo. I must confess sadly that she sings better out of the band but still she can't be called opera singer any more not since 2004. (I still haven't heard live her song with Van Canto, which was amazing as I heard it in the album). There was something in the live performances of Tarja that used to annoy me but not anymore - she got better!
