i can do a proper handstand from the standing start-position but THIS with starting with the hands on the floor feel so wierd like i have no strenght in the shoulders and arms and don't get my ass up!! so frustrating but i will go on!!
I don't know why, but.. well, I am learning a handstand now in my gym class, and I want to practice this at home too, but.. I CAN do it at gym, and I CAN'T at home. :/ I feel lame at home. I don't know why, but everything I want to practice at home I just can't do. Sorry for my English :/
Great technique and loads of personality that comes through. :-) Thanks for the vids! I am pretty strong in the shoulders but this I see is all about core, so must work on that. Thanks for the inspiration.
Best explanation of Handstands I've seen. I used to do Ashtanga many years ago and was almost able to do them the yoga way - never quite mastered it though! A few years later I've ditched gym weights and am starting into bodyweight exercises, and looking for progressions to Handstand push-ups (without a wall)... From a non-yoga perspective this is still a far superior method than some of the other progressions being taught out there - also much greater reliance on the core muscles.
Yo chick, your instructions are awesome. I'm going to follow your instructions and experience that journey from the floor to the wall. I love your composed way of speaking. Khoda hafiz.
I just want to say this had really helped me with hand balancing. And I want to thank for postign such an informative and greatly instructed video. Thank you so much.
It took me YEARS. But I was getting stronger all the time. You can do it! Just do smaller hops, each day...and chip away at it until you get there. You will!!
YYAAAAA.. finaly i held the handstand without tounching the wall for about 10 seconds... none of the other videos explained the core side of handstands.. thanks so much xo
LOL, I know yoga is your thing, But any tips on teaching myself on how to do a back handspring. I am trying to learn a handstand, I have bridges and cartwheels down. Any tips? I learned this on my own ( I can do one hand cartwheels also..lol)
this was a great tutorial. I haven't attempted a handstand yet but I'm working towards building my core strength enough to be able to do it. You make it look effortless!
i couldn't quite do this handstand against the wall cause i'd fall to the wall. i though i wasn't strong enofe. a few days ago, i was trying to do it and, just like that, i did it! i was so happy... it's so easy if you just keep trying, and do not feel defeated by the fact that you can't do it for the first try!
hey sadie, im sitting here with my husband bryan kest and we just watched your video and we just learned some cool some things! i watch your videos all the time and love them. hope to catch a class with you sometime!
look, when u do this handstand, don't you fall to the wall? because i do... does it mean that i don't have enofe strenght? please answer... i don't know!!!
Yes, so kick lower until you learn to stabilize your arms as if they were in Plank Pose...shoulders over wrists. If your arms waver, it can cause you to fall too, even if you're strong enough. Keep the arms set, then see where your hops take you, and take them higher over time.
I didn't know that Yoga teaches like this. This is the best handstand tutorial I have found, much better than many gymnastics and breakdance tutorials here on youtube. This really explains everything you need to know!
Thank you so much Sadie!! My tumbling coach was really impressed with how much longer I could hold a handstand after practicing with your videos for only a week. Thanks so much and keep up the awesome work you do! I really enjoy it all.
Thanks so much! I am working on my handstand and the tips and tricks you gave are SO helpful. Finding grace up there, even for a moment, can be so rewarding! Thanks!!!!
You keep practicing, focusing on arm stability and core strength. 1000 times and you'll understand it better, and trust yourself more. Never let your arms move from straight up and down, and keep your navel into the spins so you can't backbend. plus watch my safe escape no-wall handstand video! Just cartwheel out if you go too far. Have fun! Don't let your fear win--just go slow, low, and enjoy the process. xoSadie
Im 13 yrs old and I find it a little hard to do this pose. I really want to learn this coz i think its very fun! But Im almost halfway there because of your vid! thnx! btw I lyk your hair!:P
Hey--thank you! It's so cool that you're starting this early. You're a rockin' teen! Keep it up and let me know how it goes. Stay in alignment, and stay fearless!
Hi, I have some trouble when I do a handstand: I always start to shake a bit and if I don't go down, it gets worse. my arms and legs feel strange, in a bad way. but when I do a headstand, i don't feel this. do you (or anyone else) know why I feel like this?
PS: I don't do yoga, I have to do it for gym class. I also have low blood pressure.
Fantastic! Best explanation of this pose I've ever heard. Thank you for posting this. I've been at this pose for a couple of months, thanks to you - BAM! - I got it. Namaskar!
it's not an easy process but neither is life!! hahahaha oh that made my day so much better!
