  • To get hired by Jazz do you need a ATPL or a CPL?

Also i live in Halifax and i want to work for Jazz will i get posted in Halifax?

  • @b4champ You need your CPL and IATRA exams written to get into Jazz. Chances are you will not get Halifax... the base is very small and they never send anyone there. You usually get Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal or Toronto(best flying)

  • How did you get in the cockpit?

  • @j2k8742 I opened the door! lol I fly for the company :)

  • must be pretty noisy up there

  • It's a lot worse in the cabin..

  • VERY COOL, Thanks for posting!

  • haha edmonton stand up

  • that wasn't a stand up.. We don't get then in Edmonton anymore

  • Nice that is awesome i am thinking about working for Air canada in my future!

  • Did you ask to go up there or how were you aloud in the cockpit??

  • I work as flight crew for the company. Other people are not allowed up there.

  • What time was it because I fould that JZA8159

  • what flight number was it

  • No idea. It was too long ago and there is a million flights a day between Edmonton and Calgary.

  • nice color that time of day.

  • i know i love flying on winter days like this too

  • whats that noise that swooshing sound type whoa sounds scary

  • That's when they reduce throttle and feather the props. It lowers the RPM and makes the engines more efficient. It doesen't sound that scary in real. It's just the way it came out on the video.

  • They do reduce the RPMs, but not the power itself. These are two very different things. Additionally, they never feather the props in flight, as doing so would make them totally inefficient. Feathering is used to start the engines, to reduce drag. The swooshing sounds happens when the two props aren't in sync. Once the RPM is reduced, they activate the syncrophaser, which makes sure that both props spin at the exact same speed.

  • this looks like it was a take off from city center cause all the city lights. leduc is in the middle of the country.

  • AC Jazz only flies out of Edmonton INTL.

  • Part of that could be the Nisku industrial park, it's right nearby and I think it's the largest in Canada.

  • The video suggests the plane's taking off from Runway 2; You can see Highway 2 and Leduc on its far side.

  • Was this out of downtown Edmonton or out of the main airport down south by Leduc? In 2 months, my daughter and I will be flying out of YEG to Seattle; I will be returning. It'll be her first flight.

  • This was out of Edmonton international airport (by Leduc).

  • Cool, I love the Dash 8. Noisey little buggers.
