  • xd i played this in a string and band symphony in the 7th grade.

  • @MrTrainFan3985 xd. same here.

  • @train2589 hey are the one i had to sit next to?

  • WHOOP!!!!!!!!

  • I played this in high school (1st trumpet). From a technical standpoint, this song isn't that bad. Musically however, this is a VERY challenging piece of music. Our woodwinds worked on the section from 2:33 to 3:09 for weeks. With the 1st clarinets having all those notes way above the register, and all of the chord stacking, it made playing that section IN TUNE very difficult. We pulled it off somehow though and sounded great.

  • Bravo!!!

  • Great *****

  • The Aggies finally learned something else besides the "Aggie War Hymn," congratulations and well done.

But, The University of Texas still does it better...

  • YEAH CLARINETS ! ! ! ! !

  • Played this my sophomore year in high school, its a tough song....great job

  • Perfect.

We tried to tackle this in my HS band.

Learned a valuable lesson... Chester is one tough son of a bitch.

  • someones music fell at 4:54. Hate it when that happens.

  • Great Job...

  • Great recording. Very nice, very technical. Congrats to A&M for being so dang fast!!

Quick questions: When was this? And who is directing? Is it Dr. Rhea?

  • Not sure when it was but that is not Dr. Rhea. It is Lt. Travis Almany

  • That's not Mr. Almany. Doing band with him right now and that's not him.

  • We played this song at state!! I'm trying out for this band in the summer!

  • I wish I could've heard the choral section at the beginning lol. Overall not bad at all for the quality recording it was you can hear all the colors when they are needed to be heard and alot of the technique is well done, I'm playing this with my highschool right now and I know how difficult some of this stuff can get.

The only thing I didn't like was the musicality of some parts, I thought, was misinterpreted and went to fast, would've sounded better if it went slower. But overall really good.

  • Thank you for doing this piece justice.

  • OH FUCK! Percussion section is TIGHT! I'm currently playing this at my college, and I've never heard it played it so well.

  • I love this piece :)

  • Nice job TIM!!!

  • Man, and I've been told I play the timpani too loud...

  • Trumpets need slight tuning during the start hymn. At least they corrected it as they went on. Great performance, poor recording.

  • Yeah my camera sucks at recording. This recording didn't do justice to them. They had a phenomenal performance at Carnegie hall in February. People are still talking about it. :)

  • No worries. I can imagine how good these guys sounded live. People said that my high school played well (you can look on my page if you'd like to criticize the performance), but there's nothing like a university performance.
