you can pick it up tho it wont bite you or anything even agressive species like OBT's dont ever bite without a reason i have mine for 1 year and have been handling it for about 10-20 times and i never got bit

He's not 10 - his parents were in the room with him - they have since given him some more coaching on using the knife. But to be fair, he has unboxed 13 tarantulas now and not cut himself yet. He loves tarantulas and all wildlife and that should be encouraged surely? Horrible people about ...

@kyledee1000 I just bought one and brought her home and my mom had a fit but now I have a couple and she doesn't care. she realizes its a hobby of mine and that they are of no harm to her (my mom). tell your mom that you are interested and passionate about the hobby. ask for a starter species and tell her you will return it or find it a good home if she can't handle it. like a test run kinda. goodluck
