Scottish, but yeah my voice absolutely sucks in this. I had like no confidence and I went through a wee phase of barely talking to anyone so I wasn't too great in this indeed. I will probably do another one soon. But hopefully anyone that was confused got the point with the visuals.
@MarkRiches You helped me understand how it works lol. Now, I'm a beginning drummer, I don't know all the names to parts, but when you buy the new drop clutch, do you have to replace the base to the bottom hat with one you bought with the clutch?
@MarkRiches I don't understand why you say that your voice sucks in this! I am Brazilian and understood everything you say! Thanks for the explanation!
yeah you can - it depends on the clutch really. Mine is a bit crappy, but if you had a nice one you could probably whack it with a stick. It isn't very tight at all.
Do you mean splashy in its "open" state or when you have released the lever so it is "shut"?
That's very easy to do open, you can set it to take the hats as high as you like, just like any clutch
Not possible to do that in its "shut" state though, but there are different types of clutch you can get for that. Look up Tama's Cobra Clutch, that lets you set how loose they are when they're closed
triggers basically measure when the drum is struck and produces a sound that is the exact same every time, no dynamic. useful for super fast bass drumming in metal where you want every stroke to sound perfectly identical.
id probably find it useful as my left leg sadly isn't hitting as hard as my right, so there's a bit of a sound difference there. gotta work on that.
and it really depends, what if you only need the clutch for one song? is it worth carrying another £300 to a gig in the form of a new hi hat and stand?
just practise really. you can get really quick at just hitting the lever, or even improvise so that you're only needing one hand while double bassing. maybe to hit a crash. you can use your other hand to bring the hats back down
Hi, that brand is the "drop clutch" of the video? excellent explanation I liked the way how to explain precisely didactic and all ... thanks!

How tight is the lever? Can you hit it with a stick or something?

How do triggers work?

not sure how to do a video on that one :P

ooooooooh, think about it whilst I go sleep.
MarkRiches 2 years ago
lol I'm just trolling. True. It's cheaper. That's why most world top drummer don't use it where money is not the concern.
But it's a really really nice piece of tool. Especially for us, where money...is...a concern :(
