  • This song is so beautiful<3

  • This song is so beautiful<3

  • swag

  • I've listened to this song like 50 times in the past 3 days. It makes me sad, but I can't stop listening to it becuase it reminds me of a guy who I'm not supposed to like.

  • going to see them live ahahahaaha

  • @renata729

Laugh away you bastard! *cries* lol

  • When I first listened to this song, I thought "God, how can anyone relate to this?" That was a few years ago. Now, after personal experiences, this song isn't so foreign to me; I completely understand the point of view. How easy you can take advantage of someone and feel a bit stoic about what you do, yet also feel really pissed off that the person you're taking advantage of just ALLOWS it to happen so fucking easily. Or feeling guilty about the fact that you DON'T feel guily. Perfect song....

  • This song is brutal for some, and uncomfortably empathetic to others. There have been countless times when I knew I was taking advantage of a girl because she was infatuated with me while I didn't care, or that I was out-witting her and telling her all the things she wanted to hear. Lying is damaging and ultimately we don't want to hurt others, but sometimes it's just what happens.

Of course, girls play guys all the time as well, but it's destructive to both genders either way.

  • This is a matured version of Soco Amaretto Lime.

  • does anybody else hear soco amaretto lime? its like the same song. both good

  • :'[ this song reminds me of a boy I was obsessed with. But i love the fact that in the song it reminds you that a guy acknowledges what he is doing wrong, but sometimes the girl doesn't want to accept that she is just being used.

  • i love this. Just really good music. Gives me goosebumps and it's message is pretty sweet - 3:21 is my favorite part.

  • This is beautiful :')

  • this is my theme song )':

  • Another reason to listen to good music like this, no irrelevant arguing

  • I love when this song cuts loose at the end! mm mm good shit

  • The guy in this song should hook up with the girl from Sic Transit Gloria. Problem solved!

  • @ponyta2 I think it's the sound of a good alnum if you're able to say that xD Like they're songs tell such deep stories.

  • storyofmylife

  • @GiveInToMetal That is a great way to perceive this song, I had something like that happen to me where a girl loved me so much and i was only with her because i didn't want her to feel hurt, but i knew it had to end because i wasn't in love with her.

  • This song really is so meaningful. Guys might not know this but this usually is the story for so many girls and it's so sad. Definitely can relate.

  • 4:16= gold!

  • One of the few perfect songs in modern music.

    Fact.

  • I love this song but I hate how it reminds me of the guy who first introduced me to Brand New because the lyrics totally describe how he probably felt toward me.

If you let me have my way I swear I'll tear you apart.

  • i love this song BRAND NEW !! , theses lyrics are so amazingly written.

this si what real song wrtiing and a real band sounds like <3

  • this song is about sex and gettin it from drunk bitches

  • This song, man. This song kills me.

  • Wow got the first word to the lyrics wrong..

  • Just realised the one of the reasons I love this song so much is because the melody is a carbon copy of Soco Amaretto Lime.

  • Oh fuck. I am the character the lead singer is portraying in this. I feel so fucking guilty.

  • How many kids commit suicide because of this band?

    well....

none, because as soon as this band makes sad emotions.. the song makes your whole fucking day!

    loved this shit foreverrr

  • This song breaks my heart. I think it's about a guy taking advantage of a girl. He knows it's wrong, but he isn't strong enough to stop himself. Part of him is grieving that she "falls for empty word I say". Part of him wants to her see through gimmicks and gambits; but they're working. this song is fantastic. And I think part of why Jesse decides not to fluctuate his tone a whole lot in this song is because it is like this feeling of numbness he gets from being able to take what he wants. =)

  • @superjailwardenlover Well put... this song kind of makes you realize how some girls are so weak that even the guy starts to feel bad before she leaves.

  • @superjailwardenlover SO well said!! Bravo. =)

  • @superjailwardenlover this is the best interpretation of a Brand New song I've heard, you should contact Jesse. I'm sure you've got some influential ideas say :)

  • @superjailwardenlover fucking perfect analysis. spot onnn

  • Comment removed

  • @superjailwardenlover Spot on, but I don't think he feels that much remorse. It's almost like it's a game to him. (I've been him before :/) He feels bad for her, but doesn't respect her enough to care.

  • @superjailwardenlover he feels no sympathy and will continue to do the same.

  • @superjailwardenlover why a guy about a girl, a girl did this to me and i feel like shit so yeah.

  • @xgherkinx then Sic Transit Gloria is for you brotha

  • Just hearing the opening to this song makes me emotional.

  • tonight this song ehhh...

  • @jeffiscow

all this song knows is ball, good.... and rape

  • Hand Banana No!

  • big up brand new for keeping shit real. you can sin or spend the night all alone

  • Comment removed

  • this is me.

i am the drunk who's hair smells of smoke and gets taken advantage of too easily.

i fall for every empty word he says.

  • @lovestruck815 me too

why do we do this to ourselves?

  • I haven't clue as to how this song makes me feel, but the top is sad...but understanding of how life is for everyone who's ever been hurt by any means!!!!!!!

  • Love it...My favorite Brand New song ever!

  • i would f&^k all of them

  • @jholiday385 whore!~ lol

  • jesse lacey rocks my socks.

  • This is my favorite Brand New song ever. I can listen to it over and over and never get sick of it.

  • This song is on my F my life playlist. <3

  • This song reminds me of my senior year of highschool 2003/2004. The greatest years of my life. Man, what I would do to go back to that time.

  • Great quality, thanks for the upload.

  • listen to this drunk all the time.. like now

  • I found this song when the lyrics were put into a fanfic I was reading. The lyrics made the story so grand! I looked up the song and fell in love with the first chord!

  • Brand New = Win

  • I remember when I first started listening to brand new I always thought he was singing "I will lie awake and like a phone fake the way I hold you" wish they would come back to ireland

  • "i am almost feel sorry for what i am bout to do " gets me everytime

  • I am not usually one to hate on youtube shit, but this music is ungodly depressing.

  • @bornoffire1992

    hahaha

    yeah its pretty depressing.

But thats what music is about. Emotion, and being able to distill emotion into its listeners.

not all music is upbeat and sparkley. not all music is manic and depressive.

but all music should have emotion. despite the depressing part, its a good song.

kind of like Blue October. They're music is quite sad. Inspirational too at times...and still i cant get enough of it. :)

  • @MissLovely42

Try listening to something with emotion and that is uplifting. Like hatebreed.

  • @bornoffire1992

i have. i do. i will continue to.

But all i was saying, is just because a song has a down tune to it, doesn't make it a bad song...just a different song for a different kind of mood.

(hatebreed? :) doesnt sound like it'll be uplifting, but i'll check it out.)

    <3

  • Daisy was progression from the previous albums and after a few listens i got it.....then, put all their songs together and it equals the best band around, thats all i have to say on the matter :D

  • best song ever. in love with this band too

  • best fucking band there is.

  • Brand New is my all time favorite band. I don't know if I'm the only one that feels this way, BUT, Daisy sucked some big old black diseased dick.

  • @loganeugene was that an older cd? I have it, and I would like to say I am not a big fan of it either. I enjoy the newer stuff much more

  • Damn, I can't believe this album came out 7 years ago.

  • demi lovato is some tween disney actress/fake musician that all these fake douchebags are obviously pitching a boner for. find your own music you bottom feeding rats.

  • Brand New <333333333333333

  • It's funny how this song is not about rape but yet I have NEVER heard of this song until I was watching rape and heard this song on an advertisement about rape, I liked it and looked it up to find out that it's by Brand New hahahaha. OMG

  • @tranchedevie2 rape doesnt equal taking advantage....this song just talks aboiut similar circumstances and not relevant reasonings.

  • @terraflata alright, the advertisement was wrong...

  • This is my favorite song on the Album.

  • @SwagProductionss Demi lovato is an extremely talented singer.

  • @Jonnyboy356 anyone with the name johnny boy would say tht

  • This will be my favorite, always.

  • Amazing song. C:

  • faggoty ass candy ravers need to stfu why are you even listening to this if youre all into dubstep

  • This song reminds me of my boyfriends and I relationship..... :/

  • @xJustxLikexHeavenx you know the song is about rape...right?

  • @YODSD Rape? No. Its about being cold and malicious. About satisfying a physical want with utter disregard for any sort of emotional concern or attachment. I can personally relate to the "Almost feel sorry for what I'm gonna do" Fake smiles are just that.

  • @terraflata are you kidding me? the song is about him taking advantage of a drunken woman. whatever bro thats the magic of music from brand new. it can be anything you want it to be.

  • @YODSD Was just trying to say.....taking advantage aint rape. LOL

  • @terraflata

thats really scary. taking advantage aint rape?

  • @sweetestormentx Under the circumstances of getting drunk in a bar, we aren't talking about someone who is getting drugged. But rather that people are stupid or willing enough to drink themselves into a blackout (not knocked out BTW) wake up the next morning to someone and call it rape. If you wanna go out and drink until you lose control, then assume your actions, even if you dont remember taking them.

  • @xJustxLikexHeavenx

    so.... what your name?

  • What is the Maradona reference in this song?

  • Ben- No. It's about just using her for a one night stand.

  • Isn't this song about rape?

  • if you all can't appreciate brandnew....get a fuckin life...ur obviously too young to appeciate anything that comes ur way....either it be good music or not....u suck

  • I've been a fan since 2001. :)

  • Comment removed

  • brand new's not a christina band. they have religous context though.

    I love brand new

  • @SwagProductionss i'll tell why i dont have grammar cuz im EGYPTIAN im not one of those dumb americans like u fuck face!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and by the way american its grammar not grammar IDIOT

  • @ranarony this post is full of fail!

  • @ranarony I'm sorry, but you spelt grammar the same way, twice... I'm just saying, it confused me?

  • Comment removed

  • @rageinheart you are an idiot. maradona is alive. and brand new is not a christiain band. ..whats it like to be retarded?

  • Comment removed

  • I think he must always be on about the same girl in his songs, whoever she is, she did a proper number on him.

  • @alvilla28 Yes she did. Although I think this song is about the consequences of said girl. And how they change you. This song to me reflects a quote. "He who makes a beast out of himself, gets rid of the pain of being a man"

  • "if you let me have my way, i swear i'll tear you apart."

this part gives me goose bumps.

  • this is beautiful and relatable.

  • in this picture, I just noticed how the two on the left kinda are coping hair and dress style and the two on the right are coping hair and dress style.

  • Awesome song, and it is under rated. Given this album is so so so fire and everysong on it is fire. I feel like this song does not get the recognition it deserves.

    Bran new rocks

  • I've just read 10 pages of comments on this song...and it's kind of lame that the majority of comments aren't even about this song. Who cares about how someone became a fan or what their opinion says about their taste in music? This is an amazing, realistically saddening yet- for some reason- comforting, pain ridden, insightful, ingenious creation as are many of their songs. The song (intended or not) evoke some kind of fucking meaning to anyone who isn't impervious, but vulnerable to reality.

  • @CristeNite Yours is still the most apposite comment here, as you point out the obvious stupidity of the arguments not only here but all over Youtube, but what you said about the song being saddening (the obvious mood they were going for) but having all of the other qualities you mentioned really speaks to me. What we should all be debating, if at all, is how the hell this song is even possible. Good points.

  • @elginxxxman

    I completely agree with you=)

  • @CristeNite You just brain fucked me with your tangled words, Sir.

  • @travyes1

    Haha I'm sorry=P

  • @CristeNite Wait wait wait... You say "Who cares about how someone became a fan or what their opinion says about their taste in music?" and then you say "This is an amazing, realistically saddening yet- for some reason- comforting, pain ridden, insightful, ingenious creation". Aren't you contradicting yourself ? It's like saying " who cares about their food tastes ?" and then you say "I like chicken" no ? Or maybe am I not reading it correctly... (english isn't my mother tonge :O)

  • @DN4E You weren't reading it correctly...

  • @DN4E

Hmm when I posted this about 7 months ago, I had just read all these comments about Demi Lovato being the reason that some kids discovered this song as well as a bunch of others responding with comments like "Ohhh you don't deserve to be a Brand New Fan," or "Demi Lovato sucks! She's ruining Brand New blah blah blah," or whatever. I'm not a fan of her music or any of the disney musicians either, but it's stupid to degrade others based on how they discovered Brand New. Know what I mean?

  • your fucking exactly correct in saying this statement this has such a deep meaning and not one person can respect what it means

  • cena your awesome

  • the line that get me every time is "i almost feel sorry for i am bout to do "

  • Comment removed

  • Yah fuck Demi.

Not saying I don't want Brand New to become more successful than they already are. But people who listen to the shit on the radio, will never appreciate a true artist. They only appreciate what they're told to.

Brand New is a work of art.

  • who the fuck in the world is demi?

  • Seriously fucking Demi Lavato, keep your hands of brand new. We don't want this ruined.

  • This was my favorite song in high school, quite a few years ago! It is still amazing and beautifully real. Brand New is an amazing and honest band. I'm so glad they have become more successful throughout the years. They deserve it.

  • This basically sums up how easily guys can mess with my heart. "" "Lie for fun and fake the way I hold you. Let you fall for every empty word I say."

  • WTF have you done demi???

now fucking little possers are going to come and like this song just cuz you like it not cuz of the meaning of this song.

  • this song totally blew my fucking mind! when i heard it i was like, Whoa, thats cool beans! yeah.... ( . )Y( . )

  • Great driving album

  • my favorite part is when he says

    I will lie awake

And lie for fun and fake the way I hold you

Let you fall for every empty word I say

it reminds me of how fake i am lol

  • @trendifying Lol, omg. Someone named themselves justinbeebzfan? Embarassing. Kids these days -_-

  • this song is win.

  • i'm really surprised that demi has good taste in music. no offense to her, but this song is a work of art, and it makes sense that her fans dont appreciate it because they would rather listen to her cliche disney music.

  • @danzzr yeah i was really surprized too.. i only follow her on twitter because she shows me good music.. and i find the meaning in the music not just listen to it becasue she likes it.. theres always gonna be music she likes that i dont like but i appreciate that she tweets it... shes shown me "bright eyes" "john mayer" "billie holiday" and "the honorary title" in my opinion people should be happy that she brings "children" to good music and not just cookie cutter music. people dont see that

  • @warclassics yes.... i guess your right !! :D

  • damn. this song is intense. the lyrics...whoa. I am pretty sure i understand them all and what they are saying but for clarification can someone explain them alll to me and the whole meaning????? i wanna be sure

  • Inb4trolls.

  • @ranarony if you don't like it, don't listen to it!

  • @ranarony you're an idiot.

  • you really don't understand this music, you only listen pop and JB. btw i think this song is awe. i didn't know this song but i liked too much!!

  • you really don't understand this music, you only listen pop or JB. btw this song is awe. i didn't know this song, but i liked too much!!

  • Thanks Demi for tweeting! I'm one new great song richer!

  • man kann genau hören wenn es am schluss schneller wird. und mittendrin hört sich es auch immer so an aber leider bleibts dann immer langsam.. ein bisschen zum einschlafen aber eig gut (;

  • @JustinBeebzFan123 then grow up justin fag fan. xD

  • @JustinBeebzFan123 i think your name says enough about you.. Justin Bieber?! he is 12 and has no musical talent whatsoever..

  • @JustinBeebzFan123 Demi doesn't give a shit about you or your opinion on what music she listens to.

Just listen to the bullshit you consider "music" by all the Justin Bieber's in the media.

  • Its really good, but its making me sleepy haha :L

  • this song isnt about rape its about drunk fuckin and not giving a shit about the person

  • The one all the way to the right looks like my friend John , lol.

  • I personally believe this song is about the intention of rape. I had a class not that long ago where we broke down this song, and if you really look into it most of the lyrics imply rape. Well, I more than believe it. I think 100% it's about rape.

  • @jessez22

Hmm I'm not sure that's what it really means, but I want to know what class allows you to break down the lyrics of good songs! haha=D Sounds like the perfect class for me!

  • So u take after Rob W, to state vs Maradona and Elvis, u beat Marra cuz I dont watch footy, to compare with Elvis you will loose 100%, I dont mark u because of this simple mistake, if this is here 3wks from now I will, and you will be a loser.

  • He takes advantage of a drunk girl, but feels like she is taking advantage of him too, purely because he still feels vunerable. sic transit gloria may have to do with this song also, maybe he feels like all girls use him, so it's okay for him to use just one drunk girl. "I almost feel sorry for what I'm gunna do" get it? He ALMOST feels sorry, meaning he feels somewhat justified. His justification being that he's been used also.

    TADA

  • This song is fucking epic. And even that doesn't cover it.

  • yeah its about taking complete advantage of a drunk girl... but i agree to the open view thing. a person having their own opinion is definately a good thing and different people have different ways of relating words to their lives... some songs are pretty straight forward but a good band like brand new you can have lots of views on lyrics.

  • Another theory that my mum got me thinking about is that its about a rape. Immediately I was like, "uhh NO" but if you listen to it and follow the lyrics it kind of makes sense. I have my own meaning to it...that's what I love about this band...all of their songs, you can relate to it in your own way...and give it your own meaning. Open to interpretation. True art.

  • I agree with you 100% on the 'open to interpretation'... I believe it is about rape. Me and my brother have been thinking and we both conclude that it is indeed about rape. Or in the very least, about taking advantage of someone.

Great comment by the way... Very intelligent and true. :)
