  • Great tone quality! And a gold head joint!

  • I love Ibert!

Some years ago I was walking in a residential area close to a University and a flautist was practicing this piece. I was mesmerized at the ethic. Eight bars, oops. Start over. Eight bars, oops, start over. Nine bars, got it, do it again.

No easy piece to play, thanks for sharing.

  • que hermosoo

  • Wow. that was amazing. 18?? Really??

  • BROVO!!!

  • Better orchestra than soloist but the music is so poor!

Only vituosity and a little reminds of Debussy or Ravel here and there....

    I dont like Ibert...

  • @MrGipeto66 I think you'd better listen the 2nd mvt of the flute concerto in order to change opinion about Ibert's music ;D

  • I'm a male flutist and I gotta say you inspire me! I am entering in my own concerto competition! You play with great style and confidence! Good lucky with everything you do! =]

  • how long have you been playing flute? D:

wow. this amazes me every single time <3

  • Oh god, this piece is so amazing. I'm planning on playing it for my senior year in both my county's orchestra and if it's available for piano, solo and ensemble. You did an amazing job. (:

  • Hey! I really like this. But don't let the audience catch your mistake. You shook your head a bit after the first phrase. I feel that if you did not, then some people may not have noticed it! :)

    Anyway, it's still cool!

  • WOW! I think this is an amazing interpretation.

  • holy F!!!!!!

  • The flutist is so hot and full of self confidence

  • I opened the video to listen to the concerto , but I kept watching to look at him!Oo

  • You. have. superb. stage. presence. I'm quite impressed.

  • love his playing, his flute is so beautiful!!

  • Ibert is a somewhat forgotten master...ridiculously great composer.

  • In my PERSONAL opinion...you should improve lots of things...

    I don't like this performance...

  • @Flautina00 You say you don't like this performance but you don't say WHY... can you elaborate??

  • wow!!! That was like amazing!!! I especially liked the double tonguing towards the end! The overall performance was really beautiful.

  • Hey that's too amazing!!! I'm just sitting and listening it with opened mouth for 3rd time...and I'll do it again :-D Does anybody know where could I get sheet music for this beautiful piece?

  • You always know how to impress 'm, don't you? ;)

  • my boyfriend think youre cute...now im jealous

  • mmm...muchas notas falsas, no estan claras las notas....especialmente al principio...

  • Good version but sometimes you are not on time with the orchestra, moreover, i like your version, i started play this concert and heard your version is a good referent to me. Be careful the last note is a false note, not correspond to the final..........altought, you're great but to be in consideration the things who i think,

  • Never mind about my last question.

Should have read the below before I typed this xD

How old were you when you started flute?

  • Wait, do Danish people speak English too?

    I didn't know that!

wow, I wish I had a tutor like you!

it'll just be so much fun listening to you xD

    Btw, how old are you?

  • wooooww!! youre amazing!! my boyfriend is jealous. :) he plays flute too.

  • Another thing, any advice on how to play the high F more efficiently? I just can't get that stinkin' note out.

  • Try hitting G

Very important thing about music is for you to try above of your limits, so if you can get a mediocre high G, youll most likely get a high F very easily

  • Um .. I don't see how playing a high G will help me with the high F. I meant the high F at the END of the piece, not like an above the staff F. That's no problem, I've been playing for nine years. I can hit up to a D below the high F that I'm speaking of.

  • I'm not a pro here, but I'd say try using a really fast and focused air stream. I am guessing the embouchure would have to be pretty tight as well.

  • That was awesome. The tempo was wild but I think your tone and everything are just astounding. People train for years trying to get that clear of a tone, and your low notes are really lovely to listen to. Very well done, mate.

  • wow increible!! me encantas!! como te llamas???

  • very good job. your sound is great as usual !!

Just : was the tempo a little bit too high ? your fingers say yes sometimes ! ;-)

  • I loveeee the way you do the trills. Do you use Tremelo fingerings ? I want to do the trills the way you do so badly.

  • coooooooooooooolll!!!!!

  • მაგარია!!!!! cool!!!! wunderbar gespillt !!!!

  • tres bien . c'est genial !

    bravo ! nice work

  • Young-Nice-Talants-Large (his tie :)

  • very good!

  • Oh my Gosh!!!! This is one of the best performances that I've ever seen!!!! You're a really good flutist. Could I say you're one of my Idols???

  • i just totally love this performance...i could never get bored of watching it over and over!! :)

  • Let me see you play in front of a huge audience AND be broadcasted on national television and not mess up.

  • it's not about what those criticizing can or can't do, it's about how they can help the performer make his performance better.

  • I don't think it helps when people point out the obvious. "Hey you cracked a note" Yeah like he never noticed that when he watched his performance.

  • Gosh, what an amazing low register!!1

    Love it. :)

  • Very good!! I love your playng. Best wishes from Italy.

  • yeah great esecution, can i ask you 1 think? the position of the forth octave F, know oly the to the D of that octave XD

  • Minus all of the cracked notes, some careless runs, and the accidental repeated note on the 2nd page of this movement a couple of lines down, this is pretty good.

Don't play fast because you can, play fast because you should.

  • what kind of flute do you play on?

  • This is an incredible performance! Great job. Have you ever performed the first and second movements?

  • This is an incredibly more talented performance than anything I've ever seen on American Idol. Well done! Such passion and energy-- I loved it!

  • Ibert had something against string players when he wrote this concerto. Ughhh...

  • I still really wanna learn that high F...

  • Wow, cool idea for a TV show.

  • i think artistic sincerity is important even when playing such light music like ibert 3. movement

  • fantastic

  • Du knækker din langfinger. Det skal du prøve at vende dig af med, da det kan gøre det sværere for dig på de hurtige steder. Ellers Bravo :)

  • Great! The only complaint I have is the video skipped a whole section that we could have enjoyed! =)

  • perfect. though im a little concerned about how the orchestra entered and it bothers me about how it didnt sound completely together. but im sure its just my imagination and it was supposed to be like that (: otherwise, i love your playing

  • how old were you when you performed this?

  • 18 years

  • Have you cut a large part?

  • The tv people did that.. This is directly from the television.

  • great performance

  • Congratulations on your prize and lovely playing! I am playing this now in a band arrangement!

  • very good. Every great soloists have to start somewhere to developpe imunity againts stress!! that was great :P

  • kudos to the orchestra too, this piece is very hard rhythmically

  • Geez .. how the heck do you play this song without visibly changing your emouchure every few seconds to hit the notes? Man. You're so frickin' good.

  • It's true that there are some cracked/overblown notes, but nobody is perfect an if you are playing with and etire orchestra behind you its too much dufficult, and you play this style quite good, but in all your submited videos theres nothing barroque or classic, i would like to hear something of that periods. There's nothing else to say but congratulations you are a wonderful flutist

  • this is such a difficult piece.. great job! haha I agree, I keep coming back every day to watch this :P very well done!

  • Hahah, I come back every day to listen to this XD

  • wow dude. slow down especially in the beginning....it sounded crazy rushed...probably why you crack so much. BEAUTIFUL sound!!!!

  • Very very good!

  • Geez .. this is just so freaking good. I want to learn this..

  • Excellent performance, truly excellent.

How someone can get a high F so in tune .. that's amazing.

  • wow... that is so totally awesome!

i've been playing 4 about as long as u, i dont think i'm eva gunna get anywhere near as good as u =[

but... thnx =] cause ur gunna b my inspiration from now on! l8taz

    Kaz

  • I played this for my All State audition. I made it. :] you sound amazing by the way. I'd love to play with an entire orchestra behind me!

  • this is just wonderfull!

splendid technique, your tone is beautiful!

    I've got a question.

What exercises do you use for you double staccato?

  • this is one of the most difficult pieces for flute, but it is not that gfast to use double staccato, ther is something that help you to do simple staccato faster, just buy a piccolo, because when playing it, you have to make your mouth smaller to fit the embochure, an it makes put your tongue lower and the articulation goes up to the palate

  • @bjornlommelen allez Bjorn! vas donc travailler tes gammes!! ;)

  • I thought you did a pretty good job on this. Nice theatrics. too. Made it a little more entertaining. Great last note (F) too! Unfortunately, having practiced it for a year, I never performed this before retiring from playing.

  • bravo

  • I really love your playing!!

    Tones, technique...

    everything is so perfect!!

your playings, especially this one always makes me come back everyday to listen =)!

  • i want to talk to you.

    you sound cool.

  • i am wondering who came into first and second, since you are already so amazing, but only third.

  • if american idol was like this id watch it. nice job. definitely one of the hardest if not the hardest classical flute concertos.

  • omg!! was this you playinggg.???

wow its so amazing.. ive been playing for 8 years and i still cant play this fast. actually i cant even double tongue....

but then again i dont even have a private teacher.... you've probably had a teacher since you were like a baby. lol jk. but yeah

  • 很讚!

  • any chance you could write it in english, french, german or italian?

  • I try it

You are a very outstanding flutist and so young. its very rare。

I have a 7 year old boy who playing flute and likes it.

I am looking for a paragon for him, you are.

  • @Carnivorious he says it's very good, and i agree with him too, that was a nice performance :D

  • @Carnivorious (s)he says good job XD

  • It is really attractive also the magnificent flute performance!! sky

  • I wish america had an idol show like this :{

  • You are a great flutist. That was a magnificent performance. You have quite a career ahead of you.

  • great..!! where do you have this notes?

  • Like in.. Where they are published. It's the Leduc edition and they demand way too much for it..

  • ..and the guy is so cute..

  • this piece is so hard! especially this movement...

  • So you could do any better?

  • The third one is the hardest, don't try to act smart. It doesn't suit you.

  • the first one actually is significantly more difficult

  • hm.. i dont agree. I can play the first movement at any time, but this one certainly needs practice every time.. :)

    Guess people are just different

  • I agree with you!

  • kinda messy

  • wow! really great performance! I was just wondering what type of flute do you have?

  • hi sorry for late reply.. This flute actually got stolen a week after this performance, so im not playing on that flute anymore, but its an Altus pure silver flute with an Arista gold headjoint.

  • I think your performance is quite nice but it is not clear enough, and sometimes you owerblow. Perhapes it depends on your school base.

  • bravo~ that's great performance~! can you tell me how to play the top F at the end? im practising this concerto now.

  • look it up on the internet and try. Please do you homework on your own.

  • Wow you're great... I noticed you kinda rock back and forth on your feet, I do that too out of habit and my teacher's always telling me not to lol. Great job though, I wish I could play half as well as that.

  • your musical intensity kept me very interested! nice low register too. yeah i wish we had a competition like that in USA

  • Suspicious..?

  • I take it you haven't "heard" yourself play this piece before then "firsova999"? I'm sure you'd change your tune then.

    - A very inspiring performance, actually.

  • wtf? haha I don't understand how his performance can be "suspicious" besides, it's a brilliant performance!

  • I think that Carnivorious still just needs to discover how to really connect with music! That is all! It is a really good performance, most likely will get a job in an orchestra somewhere! But I think that a lot of the truly great players really can connect! And Firsova999, you could not perform this VERY hard concerto any better! You know why? Music is all an interpretation in that split second in time! It can't be better or worse, it's all opinion! You just have to convince people to like you!

  • WOW Impresionant!

    Congratulations!!!

  • very nicely done! quite personally though, i liked your performance of the first movement better.

  • what champions did u win? What's the whole piece called?? What is your favourite piece and who is your favourite composer , Musician ?? Are you planning t =o be a full time player?? =] btw gooodo job!! I luv your fluteeee soundssss!!!!

  • Nice!! what great prizes did u win,,? are u gonna be a proffesssional one?? what's this piece called? which is yr favourite flutist?? What are your favourite pieces???

  • Really great, well done. This concerto is not easy, loads of accidentals. You made it seem so playful and fluid really nice to listen to. Very confident, well done to learn it. Credit to the orchestra as well. P.S. like the top F's at the end, not easy to pitch

  • I wish they had something like this in America...:(

  • I dont know if you like this flutist but, I think you play and sound like Susan Milan!! I personaly think she is really great so that makes you really great.

  • You should come for studying in France.

  • i like your playing very much!! you have a beautiful tone!

how long have you been playing the flute now?

what piece do you find most difficult to play?

  • thanks..

I've been playing for 9 years now..

hm.. That's a tough question. Of course there are pieces like Boulez' sonatina and Halffter's Debla which are very very difficult. But I think this concerto was the piece that surprised me the most. It is actually much more difficult than it sounds. Many places in third movement are not very comfortable on a flute

  • yeah i can guess that... that's very good for 9 nine years! and you seem to have a very confident appearance. do you often play in front of many people?

  • is flute easy to play..?

  • Hvordan tager man grebet til det høje F i slutningen?

  • kæft!

  • Altus PS1707 flute and Arista 14k HJ.

  • Wow you sound so good. What brand/model of flute did you play on for this competition? I'm supposed to play that same piece for my college entrance exam.

  • how old are you?

  • on this recording 18.. turned 19 in december

  • what is the fingering for that high F at the end? ;)

  • It is already answered if you look up, but it's both your middle fingers and 2nd trill key, and be far from the edge on your headjoint. That should do it.. Good luck! :)

  • Will you be there : Jean-Pierre Rampal Flute Competition 2008 ?

  • Of course dude.. ;)

  • see you there then :)

  • very lovely sound!!

    i hope like you.

  • Very nice!thank you:) i like your tone and tecnique...you are amazing...I would like to hear the way you play Bach...

  • Tanx.. Bach Emaj on this page: dr . dk / DR2 / Spilforlivet / Deltagerne / 2007 / kenny . htm

Can't find a way to upload it here. Someone?!

  • Wow! I really look up to your achievements. I do hope some day I'll be able to tackle that piece at least half as well as you played it! Good job with everything you do!

  • Congratulations!!

    very nice:)

Will you go to Riva this year too? Andrea Oliva is going to teach there again. I'll be there. :)

    Good luck! Jasmina

  • Hi Jasmina.. :)

hm.. Not sure. Might be going to Cannes/Nice something.. I'm going on a band tour in Saint Tropez so I'm going to stay. Also Pierre-Yves Artaud is comming to Denmark so I will probably go there too.

  • where did you go to college?

  • Fantastic job, dude! I know you have to be incredibly persistent to perform this piece. . . I'm kinda frustrated that they cut it, but oh well. Life goes on.

I'm curious as to what fingering you used for the high F at the end, however. I get to play this in March and in April, and I can't find a fingering for it that works well on my flute. Well, it IS high F, so it's not going to be a joy to play. . .

    Again, great job!

  • Yeah me too.. At least they could have taken the whole last cadenza instead of jumping to the middle of it..

The best way is to use both of your middlefingers and the 2nd hebel (trill key). Remember always on the high notes to be far from the edge.

Of course it is very difficult but with this way I could get the f about 80 or 90% of the times.

Hope you can make it work, and don't bother to question again about whatever it might be.

Good luck with your performance. Upload the video! :)

  • sheer brilliance! I look forward to hearing about your career in the future....FANTASTIC!!!

  • wow very inspiring! what headjoint do you play on? Also what did you do at the end...its different to what is printed but sounds great!

  • just a high F...very James Galway lol.

  • high c high f on the two last notes.. Jimmy=flashy.. it works ;)

  • Whoah I love your tone ;o Great performance haha.

  • you sound spectacular!!! :D You have a tone I love!

  • Ok .. I have watched just about all of your videos.. I predict in a few years youll be VERY well known in the music world. ... (can you tell im just lovin' your playing??!)

  • Awesome!

  • Amazing! A girl at my 5 week orchestra camp played this for a competition too. But I never got to hear it with orchestral accompaniment

  • super!

  • NICE JOB!!! what was this for? did u win a competition?...[u should win :)]

  • No I came third.. :(

Well, yeah you didn't hear the first and second prize performances. They are great musicians too. But that's how competitions turn out sometimes. At least I was very content with my own performance..

  • well congrats anyway! you did a great job on it! espcially the high F at the end! :)

  • you didn't win?! what?! that's insane..but you are right that's how competitions turn out sometimes unfortunately..
