@HOTGUYNJ Hi there, d'oh, hadn't realised the text still said it was for sale!
I have more of these in an unbent state if you're interested in getting one made up, though I've got a new design in the works with a few extra features :-)
Oh, and BTW, you can get some really crazy glitches + loops by shorting the crystal resonator on the board with the screen on it. You need to take the board and the screen out to solder the wires though. Also if you make a 555 timer you can replace the crystal for a pitch bend etc.
Hey there, I had a try, but I guess you have a different version. I have two types and they both have coils instead of crystals, and don't give much of a piutch range outside of that! Got good body contacts with the two ground points though.
I saw an article where someone bent another and found a pitch point. It also had a different shape letter A on the casing. Makes you wonder how many different versions there are!
I have both versions. The tuning coil version is labeled IQ BUILDERS (I don't know how to add decent pitch bend to it yet). The crystal version is more recent and has better 'power up' music and a larger LCD.
But what-the-fuck... The 3 nice big IC's have been replaced with a crappy black blob on a single board!
Quick edit - turns out that the crystal in my talkie computer is just a transistor wrapped in metal as a heat sinc. There IS a pitch resistor and a couple of touch points but nothing really worthwhile....
Try to avoid acquiring this version of the talking computer, 'cus it doesn't really bend.
You can identify it as it's not labeled 'vtech' anywhere on the box and doesn't have 'IQ BUILDERS' label under the LCD.
I have one of these! You can make it TEN TIMES better by adding touch contacts with the ribbon cable which goes from board to board. Then you can get all the R2D2 screaming noises.
Do you have any more?

@supersmithnetwork The one I'm working on now keeps saying "One...Car". I'll leave it to you to work out what that sounds like ;-)

Cheers for the tips, I'll have a play with those ideas at some point!

Ah sorry, I meant coil yes.
There are a few versions I'm sure, I've seen cheap Chinese clones ones bent as well, with FAR fewer circuitry, which might be the pitch-bent one.

Time will tell if it's gonna 'bend well.
