It was 1979 and my friends and I were graduating from high school in a beach town just south of Los Angeles. The Baby's rocked our world and John Waite rocked mine. I knew every word of every song. My best friend bought me tickets for my birthday, we were seated in the front row. John Waite actually placed the microphone next to me to sing a line in "Head First". I was in such shock, that I couldn't sing let alone speak. He was cool about it. Now, 30 plus years later, he is still in my heart.

This is a great version and Alison Krauss is a phenomenal artist. If she can do an album with Robert Plant she sure can do 'Missing You' with John Waite (which, btw, was recorded for HER album, 'A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection', which also featured duets with Sting, James Taylor and Brad Paisley).

How is this "destroying" a classic? This version isn't even radically different from the original (for pete's sake, John Waite himself is singing on it!). It's got a slight country twang and comprises of a duo instead of Waite singing alone. It's not bad, in my opinion. Just be glad it isn't autotuned to death.
