i have exp on outdoor tracks, and weary about an indoor wood track, they are so smooth and fast, but it appears adhesion isnt good, esp with the film of dust. How can you get decent grip once the tires lean into the track surface? YOu would need to mop the track for good tire grip, as well as a wipe off of the tires. I think Bananna is worth like 1 hr of riding. lil debbie cream cakes do better with me, on a 65 mi loop too
duude, its cycling; who really cares? we got limited time on this earth; dont waste it arguing over stupid shit. did you know a bicycle is the most energy efficient vehicle in the world? you get like, seven miles to a banana. radical.
A day cycling even in bad weather is better than working any day of the week.Go to the local velodrome for a sprint or track time, riding around the local canyons cyclo-cross style or on a mountain bike or going up the coast on a casual road bike ride beats a commute to work ANY day.
Well although im happy that your defending Track cycling against this dumb ass, I have to say that Downhill is actually a race. So i would assume you would have to pedal to win haha but if you are talking about just casual down hilling where you go and ride obstacles then yes you are true where there is really no effort going into your pedal strokes for more than a short length of time.
yeah, i would try it, but once youve done a few laps, what else can you do? do more and more? with no real tactics apart from speed? Be boring seeing the same things over and over. Id take real mountain bikibg everyday, cos its something new everyday
Ok you could of said something like that the first post and avoided all of this hate haha. I respect your decision of of choosing mountain biking over track cycling. But once you get into the sport there are some events that are individual and they are like you said pure speed unless you count trying to ride as close to the black line as possible skill or your times for your laps so you don't bonk while trying to get the fastest possible time then yes you would be right.
But when you get into the mass start races then you don't have to be the fastest or you don't have to be in the best shape to win. All you need to do is be able to draft well and ride smart like evaluating the pack and each attack. Those races are pure tactics and If anyone said other wise I would give them a big smack.
Sorry about the 2 post's. It was during maintenance and I didn't think the first one would go threw. Kratos yes I have tried all types of bmx and downhill/cross country. Thats how I got into road and track cycling. Downhill takes no tactics. Its a race against time, it takes skill to do what they do but tactics is not part of it. Same with the others for vert and park some riders plan out there 2 minute rides while others go on the spot. They have a plan but that is not tactics.
2- Try riding track at a competitive level and tell me there is no skill involved
3- No one is asking you to watch
4- Tom Boonen is hawt in his kit
5- Downhill is an individual event which makes it gay, just like triathlons and timetrials unless its Fabian Cancellara, or the Kilo, where you put out more power than in any other sport
6- You wear lycra in cross country
7- street/park/vert/dirt/flatland takes no physical endurance and relatively no tactics
you ever tried street/park/vert/dirt or flatland? Try it and then tell me it requires no endurance or tactics. Lycra on a man does look gay. Tell you what, watch the red bull district ride (slopestyle/jump/park/vert), then tell me it requires none of the above.
how can you call riding in circles on something as strong as a toothpick cycling? where is the skill? boring to watch. men dont look good in lycra, dont wear it. do proper biking (ie downhill, cross country, street, 4X, jump
2 - Try tack cycling at a competitive level and then tell me there is no skill involved
3 - No one is asking you to watch
4 - Tom Boonen is hawt in his kit
5 - Downhill is an individual race which = gay as well as triathlons and time trials except for the kilo, you put out the most power in that event than in any other sport
6 - You wear lycra in Cross country
7 - Street/vert/Park/dirt take barely any physical endurance, only uses technical skills.
Track bikes are built for rigidity and strength, to withstand the stresses put to them in the sprints. Just look at the physiques of the riders in a world class track event compared to that of road racers.

exactly. don't have to be fastest or strongest or have the best bike. scratch races are about brains and tactics.

You sure about that ?
