When someone plays as good as this, it is usually the combination of hard work and a natural musical sensibility, and a love for jazz music. I keep coming back to your channel to hear more. Best regards from your Norwegian friend.
i was on a Lenny Breau video reading coments and a guy said lenny is good but nothing like Victor VanKampen... so im here! lol i mean Vic is prety good but.. Lenny is the man.
@ericrob2112 Lenny is a fantastic player and you're right I'm glad I can stand in in his shadow. I personally would never compare my playing to his,but I see other people do, greetings Vic.
@azpmoksuhgf Thanks I'll die on stage man, try F mixolydian, Bb mixolydian and C mixolydian and solo through those scales, that will keep you chewing for a while, greets Vic.
Just wanted to say how very much I enjoy your playing, easy-laid back style and musicality! When I retire (hopefully this year....I want to study what you do! Thanks again, and please, don't stop posting!
@musik5048 Thank you very much, very fine getting these reactions, I wont stop but I'll be posting less, only when I have something really worthwhile to mention, remember I've got 174 Video's out,my time to retire is also coming near.LOL,Vic.
@Jazzguts no way its amazing i wish i could find out how you played it, feel free to check out some of my stuff, its not exactly as smooth as this though
@dushiemcbagI will, it's a coincidence yesterday I made the decission not to do Tabs and scores for Youtubers anymore, I got many requests in the past for scores, spent hours of work doing it and nobody's willing to pay a little fee, a strange mentality.Don't people pay for their groceries? cheers Vic.
@leeeo34 Hi,I advise you to purchase a "Band in a box" program (software) check it out on Internet,so you can create your own backing tracks in a very user-friendly way, greetings Vic.
nice! Its helpfull for me watching your videos cause I have to learn these songs for university. Your stuff is nice to listen to and you play the changes like a pro. Do you know anywhere on the net I can find a backing track for this song?
Hi carlito, thanks for nice comment, glad to be of help, I would suggest to purchase a new "band in a box" program, it's very user friendly and so you can make your own backing tracks in a simple way and you won't be depending on others, all the best.
I recently uploaded a video of myself playing some improv to Watermelon man. It'd be great if I could get your input on it, and maybe some advice. Thanx and keep making videos.
Thanks mcubau, well there's a little accompany riff that Hancock used that I use here as well that's nice and groovy, furthermore I've harmonized the melody with chords and added nice color-notes like 7-9 to the chords to add interest, chord voicings should always be appropriate for
Amazing Stuff!! I just started to play the guitar for fun, after 10 years. So after ,the fun and battling with 3 power chords.
It s a great joy to listen and watch your playing on the frets. Great timing and touch there. So smooth and easy going. 6 stars. Thanks for lightning the world. Smiles and greetings from Scandinavian. Have fun in the sun!
Thanks,gent30x great words,"lightning the World" it's certainly true if more people would spend time in Arts(whatever discipline) this world would certainly have another Image. Succes with your playing man,be hearing from you,Victor.
Yeah Max,now you mention it,that's true, I like his small tasteful compositions, mostly simple but always with a unexpected wink, do you know his work with the "Headhunters" incredible Funky, very good Stuff, greets Vic.
New subscriber here..you have to stop you're killing me..understated clean lines with perfect bite on the blue notes. I'm working on a jazz/blues approach in my playing and this is inspirational without being overwhelming. Would love to here some comments on you improv approach. Thank you for sharing your skills and talent.
Thanks for your nice comment, sscheldt and thanks for subscribing. Yeah man I love the Blues,it's something I can come home too, it was always my first inspiration. I guess the main difference with straight forward Blues is that I mix different types of scales that are possible on these chords.Greets Vic.
Thanks adolf, yeah I changed the original pickups for "seymour Duncans" and because I used to do studio work I put a Strat pickup in the Middle for that thin single coil sound, greets Vic.
Hi Victor, Great groove !!! Well done. I'm trying to emulate. I've been watching your videos and have very much enjoyed what I have heard. Truly love the "tube". I thank it for bring you to my home. Love Naudo too!

hey Vic so pro dont "retire" as your past comment may infer
where doing this for class and teacher just said for now to just use Fblues
and i learnt it all over neck do you have any other scales or ideas
and im getting my first electric guitar "ive been using my friends'"
do you have any thoughts for around 1000 for jazz guitar or primarily
i can use for both jazz and other common genres thanks so much
