They never explained why they need 200 000 dlls if they had already the site done and the lease with the restaurants... I think its hard some restaurants want to pay comissions for they delivery of 9 percent... maybe adding adds could be a better way to finance the website...
Yea I just went to the website and typed in my street address and it said it wasn't valid. Also i live in a major city and there wasn't much to choose from. I wouldn't recommend this site at its current stage.
This type of business model is very hard to execute. The restaurant business is brutal enough, and to take a percent off the top. Yikes. In addition, I think it's very hard to have a customer come to the site. Why not just order directly?
I think GrubCanada traffic really tells the story. 25k monthly uniques. I can only believe them making money if their conversion rates are astronomical.
And i think someone mentioned here, this idea is very easy to replicate and this makes it competitive. If i can replicate groupon business, then on line take out is many many times easier to replicate :)
I'm a second year at the University of Toronto and you have NO IDEA how many times when students in our res (including me) is up late studying or coming home from a party and is STARVING for food. Nearly nothing opens past midnight and I'm right in the center of downtown Toronto! To the guys operating this website, I really think you are going to be very successful, if you give it enough advertisement. And to Kevin, I think you missed out on a very good deal.
How they should have done it with the boston pizza guy, is told him, that they would put his restaurant as exclusive for pizza/pasta oriented, to increase the revenue generated by the franchise, which would in turn generate more money for him.
@shadgear that's the problem with all online business. Within a year of Facebook's release, you had people offering to make Facebook clones for less than 100$, same with Groupon. However, that doesn't mean that you can't dominate whatever space you get into. With a proper web strategy, you can get ahead of the pack

@summergirl8830 Lol yea right. I see variations of this company several times. The model just doesn't make sense for them to be profitable.

The only problem i have with this business is that it can be easily replicated, competition will be very fierce.

@shadgear not if they copyright the idea and everything, plus if it were replicated they could potentially sue
