Thanks for posting these vids, guys. You make a shooter in Australia, a country with very strict gun laws, very jealous. I havn't even touched a pistol or semi-automatic rifle in my life...And doubt I will ever be able to become licenced under these current laws. A used AR-15 in .223 in Australia will not go for anything less than $10,000 - and is only avaliable for 'professional' shooters. There are only a few thousand people in the country that have that privelage extended to them.
dude out of all the people who review weapons i always check your vids out prior to purchase cause you the best no nonsense guy out there. just the best.
@Gunblastdotcom Hmm, pretty heavy for a AR. :-/ I should probably look into a rifle with less weight for the SHTF scenario lol. Thanks for the video big guy.

Jeff i have been thinkin about buyin a rifle soon and would like to buy one that is chambered in the militarys next round...in your opinon what would that be? thanks
Absolutely. I bought the first grendel that I could get several years ago. I can't post links on you tube, but there are at least two detailed reviews of the Grendel in the Gunblast.com archive section. I think it is much superior at long range to the 6.8 SPC.
@Gunblastdotcom Thank you Jeff for the quick response. I enjoy your videos and has helped me with my purchases. I will look at the archive on Gunblast.com Thanks again.

Yes, it is a Ruger buckle. No longer in production, but if you want one, post in the classified section of the Ruger Forum that you are looking to buy one.
Yes, I have experience with both. They are very good rifles, but very different in the way in which they handle the cartridge from the magazine into the chamber. The Remington pushes the cartridge ahead of its bolt. The 98 guides the cartridge into the chamber with its large extractor. The 700 is easier and less expensive to manufacture, but is usually a very accurate rifle. The 98 design is still considered the best by many.
@Gunblastdotcom Did Ruger fix the problem with the front trigger pin walking? I bought the 556 when it first came out and I had constant problems with that pin walking out on me. I want one of these 6.8's but only if they fixed that problem with the trigger pin.
@trapstar918420 Buy a set of KNS anti rotation/antiwalk pins for $20 or $30 bucks. You can install them yourself in 5 to 10 minutes. I put mine in after watching a youtube video with no problem, and it cured the problem.
@kdubb11 Well, funny thing is, I did buy the KNS kit and I was going to put them in, but I ended up selling the ruger to my good friend, who still has not installed the new pins. I was just wondering if Ruger picked up on the malfunction and fixed the problem with their newer rifles. I had heard some rumors that they did, but nothing for sure. It seems like they fixed it, since Jeff didn't have any problems and he hadn't heard of any problems like that. I did get one of the very first sr's, so..
@Mrcaffinebean the 6.8 was designed to combine accuracy and stopping power for the troops in afghanistan the 5.56 is just to small and the 7.62 has to much recoil so they create the 6.8
@gragrn i know Armalite did a limited run of AR-10's chambered in .243WIN, i don't know much about availability, but they do exist in the AR platform!

@ricculus True, I already knew that, but you shouldn't buy a .223 barrel, its stupid. And the guy acted as if .223 and 5.56 where different calibers, which they aren't, just different pressure. I'm not stupid.

what does the barrel twist do to the bullet (1:7 , 1:9)
7halos1 1 year ago
The twist stabilizes the bullet in flight by causing it to spin. The faster the twist, the longer the bullet it will stabilize.
Jeff
Gunblastdotcom 1 year ago
@Gunblastdotcom so how come people what the 1:7 twist if it make the bullet drop faster
7halos1 1 year ago
The rate of twist has no effect on bullet drop, unless the bullet is not stabilized.
Jeff

@Gunblastdotcom thx for replying
7halos1 1 year ago
@7halos1 Heavier bullets.
ethosflux 1 year ago
@7halos1 it's all about the grain of the bullet.
depending on the weight of bullets being used, the twist should change to give the best stabilization during flight.
