After I lost my Christian faith, the entire idea of religion was nothing more than a jumbled mess of contradictions. We were taught to be greedy (heaven), hateful (against various groups of citizens and other religions), and always reminded that failure to obey doctrines would result in everlasting torment. There was always the collection plate, and with some groups even tithing. Blind faith that all is in good hands (and perhaps even off shore bank accounts) eventually ran out with me. No more!

They moved / changed (the Church Roman Catholic) it to Dec as the move their Faith north. After I lost my Christian faith, the entire idea of religion was nothing more than a jumbled mess of contradictions. We were taught to be greedy (heaven), hateful (against various groups of citizens and other religions), and always reminded that failure to obey doctrines would result in everlasting torment. There was always the collection plate, and with some groups even tithing. Blind faith that all is in good hands (and perhaps even off shore bank accounts) eventually ran out with me. No more!

If you feel pressured to do something the bible says you no longer need to do, the church is preaching false doctrines. I'm a Christian. I do not hate gays. I believe in unconditional love. God does say in the Bible that homosexuality is a sin, but all sins are created equal. If you lie, it's just as bad as being gay. Everyone deals with their own vices. I do believe God created marriage for a man and a woman, but if 2 people who are not Christians want to get married let them. @TheFireShow I am so glad that I am not you- imagine living in such constrained boundries that make you believe that you can put yourself on a pedestal and judge unfairly about people you don't know because th 'bible' says thir actions are wrong. If people are going to be religious, why focus on negative things that society has grown to reject, there are many good things in religions and in the bible and qu'ran- Allah loves the fair minded, love yur neighbour as yourself etc... focus on these.

Marriage is a ceremonial bond between two people. The state has a 50% right in all marriages now if you go before a magistrate. I don't need the state in my relationships. Marriage is only now in the last centuries for love. In the bible it was arranged by fathers for prosperity of the families. Womens rights and equality have made it where Americans don't treat marriage as holy. It is a bond between two, through vows before witnesses and God. Most only last a few years until we find someone new

@GarethandSarah If you really take a hard look at the Bible and its time line (which is suspect) you wlll find Jesus was really born in Aug not Dec. They moved / changed (the Church Roman Catholic) it to Dec as the move their Faith north. So to help bring in the flock the birth of Jesus was moved from Aug to Dec, helped bring in the population in the far north that had an idol (I forgot who) as their God. I dont' really get this because according to this video--Rick Warren supports TRADITIONAL SCRIPTURAL MARRIAGE. He even goes so far as to say DO NOT let 2% define marriage. So in his entire commentary he supports scriptural man and woman marriage. But then again he says these words "support prop 8". I am wondering did he mean to support it by voting, or by passing it? Because passing it totally contradicts what he said he supported which was Christian marriage...I'm confused.
