  • Saw Mofro (before they bacame JJ Grey and Mofro) in 2001 in a small bar in Blacksburg,VA. There may have been 30 people in the entire bar. I actually got to sit at the bar with JJ and drink a beer. Nicest guy you'd ever want to meet. I was in the bar listening and could not believe it wasn't packed with people. Best musician I've heard in a long time.

  • Amazing....they don't make them like this anymore :)

  • Brilliant!!!!!

  • Wow where the heck have I been ? Danged almost 50 years old and from Florida, and never heard of JJ Grey and Mofro.

  • Saw these guys last night and I love them!! They're just as good live!

  • JJ Grey & Mofro are definitely a unique group of people. You don't hear music like this anymore. they're spectacular

  • Very impressed! Just got turned on to this guy. How did it take so long? Its refreshing to hear real heartfelt soul music in this day of mostly crap fake ass music. Real deal!

  • Lucky enough to see J.J. Grey and Mofro twice recently. They are without any doubt the real thing. Rhythm, blues, and swamp soul. Check out my channel for a couple of videos I shot at the Midsummer Music Fest in the ATL.

  • Lucky enough to see J.J. Grey and Mofro twice recently. They are without a doubt the real thing. Rhythm, swamp blues, and blue-eyed soul.

  • Nice Job on this....and a shout out to my buddy Spookie who directed it...love you man.

  • Love Love this,,,

  • Saw JJ in person He is the BOMB

  • These guys are great! My friend wants to go see them at the Handlebar in Greenville and told me to get tickets. sounds like they'll be worth it! :)

  • Amazing.Honest.Real.Music.....we need more of this

  • I saw him a couple of nights ago in London in front of 200 delighted people. I reckon I have been to 300 or 400 gigs in my life. Seen plenty of blues an soul legends in my time (BB King, Albert Collins, Ted Hakins, Wilson Picket, tons of great artists). I went to see Mofro having listened to 20 mins of tracks on spotify on the advice of a mate who loves him. The gig was absoltely superb, brilliant drummer and a really tight band all round. I would say the show was an 8 /12 or a 9 out of ten.

  • Yes. From an American. He's an unsung gem. I hope his music gets broader exposure.

  • This is something special. The 'cult' has just grown.

And Derek Trucks featuring on the new album WOW.

These guys are playing the BOOM BOOM club in Sutton Surrey UK this Saturday

14th May 2011. Will certainly get a piece of the action - soo lucky.

    Nigel

  • thankyou for performing this at memphis in may. i would have surely loved to have seen a full show again like in seatle!

  • How the fuck do people not like this?

  • Seen him in a tiny dive bar here in Auburn, AL and he is just incredible. He puts so much passion and soul into every song he performs. I am 37yrs old and have seen countless live performances and JJ Grey is at the top. If he is ever playing near anyone reading this, GO SEE HIM.......

  • Thank you God for sharing this talent with us! Keep up the great work! See you guys soon.

    PS: Keep the horns blaring!

  • <3 <3 <3 Can't wait till Waka!!

  • Such an amazing artist. I saw him in concert a couple weeks ago in Baltimore. Probably about 300 people in the venue and I was front row right in front of the horns and it was the best concert I have ever been to, and I've been to a lot. He puts so much soul and energy into every song it leaves you emotionally drained after hearing them

  • @JacobFCO Just caught JJ last night in Ottawa Ontario Canada, I never even heard of him until a local blue's station said that MonkeyJunk was opening for him. He was incredible I'd love to see again. Maybe at Bluefest 2012, what a great night from 2 great bands.

  • You can make baskets out of those pallmetto fronds.

  • Crazy how the scene of the pine trees and low Yucca plants reminds me of the South East.

  • @Dirtbagging

Yucca plants??? those are Palmetto's and it is in the South, Florida to be exact.

  • czyż to nie wspaniałe....?!!!!

  • 2,228 Shares and growing on Facebook, that's how the word is getting out!

  • Do you know what's awesome? I commented two days ago, and today I see this great song/video is averaging 1,000 views PER DAY since then! Lol -- nothing to do with my comment, but it is just great to see great music finding its audience.

Which reminds me. Time for me to actually download this mastersong -- although I loooove this video, too!

  • Great Video, Great Music,

An American Classic in his infancy!

Thanks for your show in Denver at the Ogden!

  • Yep. I have seen (and booked) about 150 billion times since the early 2000's and I have to say that JJ's evolution as an artist and musician is incredible. I love the old Mofro stuff, but every time he brings a new album out I am again totally amazed. He is an inspiration to me as an artist, and to other musicians everywhere. I am constantly spreading the gospel of JJ Grey now hear in Europe, covering a couple of Mofro tunes, and spreadin' the vibe to places like St. Petersburg, Russia.

  • This music touches my soul and as I listen I close my eyes and find myself back home in N. Florida. Thank you for that JJ. Being away and always on the road ain't easy, but you always bring me home.

@ster411 - what do you mean we don't talk funny??? hahaha, N. Florida birds talk just as funny as Georgia crackers. You must be from Miami! Just kidding!

  • This band believes in the philosophy of life's adventures are just are the verses and choruses of your unique song, and when it is over, you are dead. Most peoples jobs suck, you just need to find a job that sucks less. Mofro and a few lucky others have. I feet, accomplished this task of finding a "job" that gives us an adventure that makes our own journey in this world a lot of fun. For this I go and see them and am very grateful there are that lucky few of us who are just "getting it"...

  • This video IS the South.

    Wow.

  • Oh yeah.... and thanks to JJ for proving that us Floridians are ALSO southerners... we just don't talk funny.

  • Thanks, JJ.

We're also Florida natives (living in Denver, but SOON moving to South Carolina --- long story).

    Love the music.

JJ is up at the top of my list along with Rush and OF COURSE, Southern Culture on the Skids.

THANKS for coming out to Denver the last time. It was cool seeing all these Denverites actually know the words to "Ybor City" and none of them have been there. Yeah... I've been there, laying on the ground, looking at the stars too. :0)

    Good luck to you all!

  • that's pretty sweet ~

  • We have been fortunate to have seen JJ Grey and Mofro 8 times in the past two years. Recently on Sept. 11th, 2010. These guys are now the top on my list, and not only are they all some real genuine guys, the crew too. Thanks a ton, agin to Bruce Iglauer for bringing this great group of musicans out to us and being their record label. JJ's music hits the heart and soul. He is the real deal, and that soulful funkfilled sound is not only refreshing, it is also retro in the best of ways.

  • as always... beautiful... thanks for dA good music.

  • I'm loving it, too Elvaquero. I would never have discovered it if Alligator Records hadn't circulated it on their Facebook page.

This is more than a song, this is a transfusion.

  • I'm gonna keep posting his stuff until one of y'all starts listening. This guy gets it. Duet with Toots Hibbard of Toots and the Maytalls. New release yesterday.

  • This Rocks!

  • JJ YOUR music is the sweetest thang!!!!

  • Yum! Chowder Teds.

  • Holy hottie @1:29! Love the vid JJ, love the album. I can't get enough...
