  • this is worse than 240p

  • @alorislg cg sandstorm? You're an idiot, its not cg and its obviously not mars footage but there is no claim that it is. Its a representation. They didnt have cg in the 70s.

  • I would love to live on mars. Grow plants and trees in greenhouses until there are enough plants on mars to produce oxygen. Grow em all over the planet!

  • Why did they add a fake sand storm at 0:55 ? Why not stick to actual data, actual photographic evidence? Funny how they "filtered" the sky with a red lens back in 1977 whereas now the sky is clear blue.... It's all a hoax, people. Go ahead, believe in extraterrestrials and space missions, be ignorant until death and discover the truth of the burning of your souls.

  • I'm going to Mars this weekend

  • @JohnfromPerth you wouldn't be able to see earth

  • god damn it, morgan freedom does narration in every video possible....

  • Comment removed

  • @alorislg because it DOES have an atmosphere. mars is not like the moon.

  • @alorislg it DOES have an atmosphere, 1/100 of Earth's, but is still an atmosphere, and it have winds too, stronger than on Earth, that's why Mars' sky is so red: because of the limonite dust (iron oxyde), lifted to the heights by such powerful winds

  • @alorislg Actually, a small gust of wind would suffice to create a storm on Mars (if the data are correct), because the air pressure is 6 millibar! Here on earth it's a 1000 millibar. It's the sun's heat that creates winds on earth, and even though the heat should be less on Mars, it theoretically should be sufficient to cause storms. Add to that the extreme differences in temperature between day and night, which should cause tremendous winds. There's no envelope to trap the heat at night..

  • @alorislg clearly you put a "#" sign to prove your point, "points" out your stupidity

  • @jabbawockee1887 just because you disagree with me doesnt give you the right to insult me. you think calling someone stupid makes you intellegent? CUNT, BITCH, DUMB FUCK, sounds real mature doesnt it. maybe i am wrong, so? ive seen no proof whats on mars, no human has been there, just data on a computer taken from insturments with flaws. their equiptment "malfunctions" all the time. and why should i believe anything the government tells me anyway? ask me how many fucks i give. none..so piss off

  • @alorislg It's not that he disagrees with you, it's that you're wrong and demonstrably so. The fact that you come say all these things, which we know are wrong, and act like it is important or that you know better makes you, yes, stupid. Just because you're too fucking lazy and self-righteous to go do some research doesn't mean your ignorance is shared by everyone else. If you come in public and say bullshit, everyone has a right to call you out. Welcome to reality. First time here, huh?

  • @alorislg You say you don't believe, but really you don't understand. Not understanding isn't an excuse for declaring 'lie!' That is lazy and presumptuous. End of story. Instead of coming on here and announcing to everyone that you're smarter than them and can see through the 'lies', why don't you bother getting basic information first? You're free to do what you want, but getting called out is part of the deal. And yes, declaring something a 'lie' is pretending you understand when you don't.

  • @ianman6 it was mostly the video footage i was aiming at when i said "lie" . i also intended to keep my opinion my own, i never declared anyone less smarter than me just cuz my opinion was different. yeah, maybe it was lazy? maybe i shouldve done reasaerch before commenting but i when you watch vids you dont think your going to be having huge debates with people, thats what i thought while i was watching it so thats what i commented, spur of the moment.

  • @alorislg And we already know you don't give a fuck. You'll believe anything and say anything with no care toward truth. That's obvious, you didn't need to tell us that.

  • @alorislg If these humans were as stupid as you are... then I wouldn't believe them either. Fortunately, NASA has some of the smartest people working for them. Something you probably wouldn't understand with your IQ of 75.

  • @hardstyle905 i see your attempting to make a point, but NASA didnt make this video, and anyone who believes that the computer edited "sand storm" is the real viking footage is pretty stupid..but since your really smart and know EXACTLY what your talking about i think ill take your word for it.lol..you should be an astronaut..wait no..astronauts probably get laid my bad..well atleast you have your high IQ lol

  • DEAR, VIEWERS,

FOR ASTONISHING FACTS, JUST TYPE ON THE SEARCHING BOX:

    Quran and Science

SEVEN PARTS! YOU MUST LIKE THEM!

  • See,please, my unpublished NASA image of several 6 point David’s star enlarged from photosatellite from Mars planet. It's near of Cydonia face:

    webspace.webring.com/people/or/ramonetriu/mars-stars.html

  • I will say a few things here; just take it for what it is. We have archaeological teams, Geological teams and Mining teams on Mars at this very moment. They have been there since the mid-70's. There is a breathable atmosphere, well water available in abundance, average temp is 60 degrees. The only precautions needed are vaccinations against microbes and radiation suits.

  • @mshafer1021 yeh ive seen that movie too! pretty cool eh! imagine it was real!! oh, hang on......you do......

so tell me, how do you know this? or is it just what you hope to be true? Not doubting you, would just like to know how your so certain! info and links appreciated!

  • @bjm351--They do not use scientists with degrees to do hard labor (digging, lifting) on Mars. They use grunts...military boys. The rovers are not to "explore" the planet; they are basically just like military drones that can go into caves and uncharted areas to make sure that "the coast is clear." NASA spouts bullshit all of the time about Mars and the solar system; it is a geologically alive planet with a viable atmosphere, some surface water, some vegetation, some animal life.

  • @mshafer1021 i agree dude!

  • @bjm351---There are no "links." Just take my word for it. In fact, take it or leave it. But I assure you, it is strictly CORPORATE INTERESTS that insure that you are told lies about Venus, Mars, the moon, Ceres, the Moons of Jupiter and Saturn. It is because of corrupt corporations that you do not get to see a real picture of Saturn...only digital forgeries and paintings. The movie Avatar is a fictional story based on very similar, REAL occurences...I mean the human element of it.

  • @mshafer1021 Proof? None. Zero evidence whatsoever. Pure fantasy. You're welcome. Reality checks are free.

  • I think mars will be the second planet to habit life , becouse human race will eventualy make it hapends and bring life to that planet . About europe ...thats an awesome concept too , imagine above or underwater citys :D with marine life . What i think is ....europa has been around for sometime ...is it posible for some primitive life to apear and we dont know yet? if thats true ...it would be AMAZING!

  • If there are ETs somewhere, and they somehow managed to see life on Earth and they saw humans hanging out in clubs and all that, their detectors would report to their higher authorities that "Sir, there is no intelligent life on this planet"... and by Intelligent i meant "Intelligent"

  • @JohnfromPerth Yes....imagine how it would be to stand on mars, breathing the air, looking at the blue sky, and thinking: Oh how foolish we were to believe their lies for so long.

  • I'd love to go there (if it were possible).

  • @JohnfromPerth ya but they said the planets coverd in clouds

  • @charliebbzxx

He has a very cool voice.

  • @askjiir Carl Sagan would have done a better job! ;)

  • @lestef23 No Leonard Nimoy would of done better narration.

  • @charliebbzxx Have you ever considered learning to spell....or to speak with halfway decent grammar?

  • Comment removed

  • Umm we would never live there its wayyyyyy to could at night we would be ice cubes

  • The dust storm at the end must be animated and the bright stars (which do not move!) do not look right.

  • Is it just me...or does that sould like the guy who did the voice work for that firesign theater bit Deteriorata? "...Fall not in love, therefore, it will stick to your face..."

  • It looks like Arizona.

  • Mars isnt red....it looks red from earth because of the lightwaves stretching.

As light travels through the universe it is stretched (Expanding universe)..longer the wave nearer InfaRed the light becomes.

Id be very surprised if Mars was really red and is as lifeless as they make out.

  • @lovinit19791 You're right that Mars isn't red. But it doesn't look red because of redshift (it's too close), it's because of dust in the atmosphere.

  • @lovinit19791 if you are talking about redshift, i dont think that really comes into effect on anything less than the intergalactic scale, even then its only on things moving away from us. Things coming towards us suffer from blueshift. Mars is red, to put it bluntly, because its covered in rust.

  • I don't know. I think we just better make the most we can of Earth and let it go at that. The whole grand scheme is just too bleak. The idea of colonizing other planets with these mercenary real estate companies making far-out plans to make a astronomical killing in our solar system is just too much of a pipe dream. The ruthlessly antagonisitc conditions for human habitation just at bare miminum comfort makes things seem, at very best, extreeeeemely risky indeed.

  • C'mon now seriously,Do you think anybody ever got out of earth to another planet?

People moving from every where to where else on earth just to explore earth,Dont you think they would do the same if they really had rached any other planet or moon?

  • Looks boring.

  • Comment removed

  • A manned mission too Mars would be very dangerous indeed judging by this film. Firstly, there'd be those poweful sand storms that seem too cover the whole planet in wind of 150 mp, and secondly they would also have too contend with those increadly low temperatures at night. It makes the trip to the Moon look like it was a Sunday school outing.

  • "Arrakis... Dune... Desert Planet."

  • hi friend. I always wondered if there was a shooting on Mars in 1977 or were only photos?

is it only in 2011 will be filming in high definition?

    you have the full documentary?

  • @rone100theone I look forward too this in HD by 2011.

  • Wearing all my favoute Brands Brands Brands Brands...

  • fake photos edited by nasa mars look like earth!

  • 0:10 Anybody think that was the statue of Jesus over Rio? Lol!

  • @Kelly14UK Yeah it looked alot like Favela Lmao.

  • absence of water,i dont think so

  • And Yes I like documentaries from the 70's and 80's better.

They are less overhyped popcorn, and much more facts. And Wonder.

  • A far superiot narrator compared to the modern "One Hero . . One Destiny . ." Overacted Hollywood narrators in modern documentaries !

    Bring Them Back ! Pleeease ! !

And the footage is the greatest I have ever seen from the mars surface. Is it real? Are their more documentaries like this on youtube ?

  • well temperature is a lot like up here in quebec.....

  • I hear they have real time full motion footage that we have seen little of.

  • @Zoroasterrrr If there is, it would most likely have to be time-lapse footage, since the cameras on the Viking landers took a couple of minutes to take just one picture (they worked like a fax machine or copier, only one vertical array of 512 image sensors that would scan the horizon to make one image)...

  • yeah very cold

  • so its fuckin cold on mars?

  • resembles Alaska sirs...

  • Why do all these video reels from the 70's all sound the same?! I remember watching these types of videos on the movie projector in school! LOL

  • @eepruls

Better voices than today, where they try to hard.

  • I don't get it...Are the skys sometimes red and other days blue?

  • @AJprofsr they are always blue, nasa lied to us.

  • @ferrybeer @kittysrule, listen its not hot in the day time, i can get to -30degrees and -100 at night, so please, fuck off.. :D

  • It can also be +23 at maximum too.

  • Beautiful, isn't it? One day, I hope that I can stand on the ground of a place that is not Earth. Beautiful, just beautiful.

  • @KittyRokher I am 34 years old and as I grow older into the void of space I realize that the most beautiful thing about being alive on planet Earth with all of you is this very ability to grow beyond the box and think outside the container of conventional thoughts that allows us to dream up things like free energy to space travel. You gotta hand it to NASA (never a straight answer) They showed you how you take 400 billion dollars out of your pocket and put on a good TV show.I can has spaceship2?

  • @Zoroasterrrr

    Yes, you can haz spaceship.

  • @ferrybeer u do know im learning about it and my science teacher knows a real scientest and he sed tht its really cold at night it even sez on vid if u listen :P

  • i think mars may have life but you would be like living in a desert coz its like hot in day but FREEZING at night

  • what about the polar caps and underground rivers

  • Where do you get that it is hot during the day on Mars? It even says in the video that it only gets to negative 22 degrees during the day.

  • @kittysrule78

    It's minus 22 C. at the warmest . . .

  • @askjiir it can get to 0 degrees, maybee more in the summer on mars.

  • @guitarnashelter

    I didn't know that.

  • @askjiir hehe wouldent get the sun tan lotion out though

  • @guitarnashelter

    Nope. : j

But it's the most tolerable temperature in the solar system other than Earth.

So Mars is the nearest you can get a "habitable" alternative. But even saying that is an extremely optimistic point of view, for a planet that is a forsaken wasteland with a thin atmosphere, very little oxygen and no water. : P

  • @askjiir nope not a nice place to live lol, although its suspected ice water could exist on the caps its widely belived to be frozen co2,that is why its nessisary to find these things out.but yea mars is our best bet

  • @guitarnashelter

Yep. Find out about that co2.

  • @guitarnashelter yep. according to scientists, mars also lies in the zone of "possible life" aka inbetween 2 distances from a sun, with tempatures that could at 1 time, have liquid water, and with that, life

  • @florinme24 EPIC FAIL

  • Sigh... Damn kids who scream epic fail everywhere... that makes you look so stupid, child. Hope you know that.

  • recently nasa recorded it snowing on mars. You would think that would make the news but it didnt.

  • @rustyscrapper

    Is that true ! ?

  • the martian atmosphere is getting denser all the time, its heating up and this in time could yield proof of life in watever way it may be

  • HEY, if he said there is wind there, does that mean there is oxygen? As far as i know wind is air oxygen, and if there is we dont need space suites to be there

  • No. Wind is the movement of air, not the presence of oxygen. And air is not necessarily oxygen, just any gases that make up the atmosphere.

And just because there is oxygen in an atmosphere doesn't mean one doesn't need a space suit. Europa has a completely oxygen atmosphere, but the atmospheric pressure is so low that you would not be able to breathe.

  • earth is the most beautiful planet in the world

  • yes it is beautiful, but how many planets are in this world?

  • Great old movie with mix of real Mars photos and animation.

I've posted a video reponse of a real sunset on Mars of just a few days ago. Colour movie based on NASA rover Spirit b/w stills. I felt it awe inspiring to to see the sunset on another world the day after it happened. Enjoy!

    Sunset August Mars

  • If the sun went down, why was there still

a very bright light just above the camara?

  • oh and thx for the vid!

  • Light bent by refracting through layers of dust in the atmosphere! The sun set but its light was bent around the horizon.

    Thanks for the thx :-)

  • at 40 seconds it just looks so much like earthat sundown, very eerie

  • what if after our planet has globabl warming it will one day look like mars

  • thank god global warming is an al gore money scheme. and lets hope the 30,000 phd scientists (including the ceo of the weather network) win they're lawsuit against gore.

  • I think so 2...

  • More like Venus

  • Actually if our planet does succumb to global warming, scarily it will be much more like Venus!

  • it will look like venus, not mars

  • what you think looks like venus on mars ... do u see volcanoes? or fumes? and see temp on mars is -122 to - 22 deg. On venus its enuf to melt lead and tin! By what means does this look like venus?

  • No i was saying earth is going to look like venus one day because of global warming, i never said venus was like mars.....

  • lets hope ice age takes care of that for you....lol

  • yeah lol, thankfully we wont be around for the chaos in earths future.

  • @RepublicanNatio okay, but first we have to proof that co2 causes global warming.

  • the proof is already out there buddy.

  • @RepublicanNatio

ummm okay. But a lot of other scientist say that co2 do not caus any global warming. well, my english is not that good for a discussion about the global warming...so i´ll be queit now^^

  • well what do they say causes it? venus is the perfect example that CO2 is a big contributor to global warming. 96 or 97% of venus atmosphere is CO2, yes the same can be said about mars but mars atmosphere is so thin that it isn't an issue.

  • @RepublicanNatio

It´s not that easy, but like I said my language skills are not that high. So i cannot discuss with you:p

  • english = a germanic language.

  • Is this real footage? Or fake?

  • pretty sure its fake look at the camera angle and it is just too wierd of a camera for a rover. to be looking at the sky usually its the ground the scientists care about.

  • @Edsan91 Most of it is real.

  • i like this video. Remeinds me of my elementary days in class. With the lights cut out, tv turned on teacher sitting at the desk and allmost time to go home, but wanting another peice of that school pizza!

  • Rofl all the way exactly what i was thinking of except the pizza.

  • I have only one thing to say about this video: Whatever happened to that badass voice that narrators used back then? He just sounds like if you talk shit to him, he'll cut you and then just go on narrating as if nothing happened. God, what a badass!

  • i was thinking that lol ! he just had one of those voice's that if you spoke out of term he would slap you and get back to narrating lol

  • lmao! hell yeah. But like, he wouldn't even stop talking, he would just stab you in the jugular mid sentence.

  • @shadyalien

This is one of the greatest comments I've ever read on Youtube.

  • @shadyalien lmao

  • @shadyalien Actually, one of the badass narrators you speak of who use to do a lot of movie commercials died just last year I think. Ah! Here he is- Don LaFontaine. August 26, 1940 – September 1, 2008

  • @shadyalien So frickin true. All the narrators had this voice. This reminds me of stupid videos in school when I was a kid!

  • im from mars im here to exterminate you all

  • Isn't that the robot that landed in the desert and attacked Steve Austin ?

  • im from mars

  • This clip appears to be from a rather ancient multimedia CD called "Journey to the Planets." I had a copy of this CD for many years but lost mine sometime ago. In fact this was the first CD-ROM program I ever had.

  • mars is a kool planet
