  • It is unlikely the stones were raised with earthen ramps as that would leave traces in the archaeology at the base of the stones. The people who built it were wood workers & its more likely they put the lintels on using scaffolding. The lintels themselves are not just resting on top, they are hooked on by mortice & tenon joints--a woodworking technique. The lintels are relatively light-about 4 tons. The surrounding mounds are burial sites.

  • hmmm i think is look like ufo pod for me ^_^ that all a guest

  • Magnetic + - and gravity. Shh.. dont tell anyone.

  • @JohnJuanUnited The builders were probably farmers, or at least farm-familiar. That means they were accustomed to moving dirt around and already knew how to build implements for digging. I have no theory about the arrival of the stones. But once they were there, a hard-working Company of Marines could duplicate the 'dirt' method in a few weeks. SonofHerne says they had a few thousand folks to build this. More than enough for this simple method. Why complicate it? Work Smarter, Not Harder.

  • @JohnJuanUnited Any scholarly people who responded to my hypothesis told me it couldn't have been done that way. They insinuated other (unspecified) methods which were far more complicated and seemingly impossible. I remain convinced the holes were dug, the upright columns were slid into the holes, the 'table top' stones were slid over the uprights, then the dirt was removed. When some of the structures collapsed, they werent fixed because THEY NEVER COULD LIFT THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE.

  • I think Stonehenge was built by digging pits where they wanted the upright columns to be, then dropping stones into the holes. Drag the 'table top' stones over the columns and REMOVE THE DIRT and you're done. They're all the same height, where the hilltop was. Some miscalculated columns collapsed when the dirt was removed ~ they had no way to fix that because they really couldn't "LIFT" 32 ton stones. The surrounding 'hills' or 'mounds' are probably the removed dirt. Just my guess. Yes? No?

  • stone henge can be seen in its priginal form on programme jupiter moon .what one the same as the one next to the spinx one on Y the closed 3c T

do not judge the victims of these evils doers rather the scum who do the crimes

  • probably very true, it even happens today, when a building has served its purpose its taken down and certain materials are re-used. but what do you think stone henge in particular was used for?

  • @swebbo It's a pointless question because anyone who answers it, and there will be many, is lying. Nobody knows. All we know for sure is that they exist. I'm not happy about our lack of knowledge but we do have to accept it, at least for now.

  • there is quite a bit that is still standing in cornwall, stone circles, standing stones, dolmens and fairly large stones with holes through the centre! and not to mention the stones that ended up as gateposts or doorways! its amazing that they're found still standing from ireland to turkey!

  • just how mant other monuments were around like this but were taken down and used for more practical things? why bother quarrying rock when there would be a load of rock available stood in circles all around them? just an idea.

  • how didn these get there UFos came down on earth to see all people living to not tell the truth about other life forms one day people might all die into a war on ufos

  • Stonehenge is probably the most important prehistoric monument in the whole of Britain and has attracted visitors from earliest times. It stands as a timeless monument to the people who built it.
