  • Now hes hurt again.....welcome to MN. This was the signing I got the most excited about this offseason and now....DAMN IT ALL!!!

  • welcome to minnesota!!

  • got to see him pitch against the twins...sppppooooky

  • Very compact, effective mechanics.

  • he throws crazy fast

  • to bad he broke the tip of his elbow off.

  • @trivium7098 That is the least damaging way he could have broken it hes only out for 4 months his career is not over

  • for some reason, i can feel my arm ripping apart by watchin this video. must be past experiences..

  • how does he throw so fast and make it look so effortless

  • @bigal5193 body control...he derives his power from his legs, hips and back

  • @suspect56

    That's right.

  • his windup is controlled now because hes throwin a bullpen but in a game he looks like hes movin down the mound much quicker..just sayin

  • you know dick mills whos says you have to get the body moving fast to throw faster....well zumaya is movin pretty slow and controlled in his delivery and is throwin gas

  • He's not moving slow but I would agree with the controlled part. I have noticed that the pictures who are the most smooth usually look like they aren't moving very fast but they actually are.

  • all of you negative bitches are dumb, ok lets see your pansy ass step in and strike out against that. maybe those hits he gave up we on his offspeed you ignorant fucks. he's only been in the league 3 years he still needs sum brains, so lets get your facts straight before you act like a hard ass you pansy cocksuckers

  • shut up you don't even know what we're talking about. leave the forum nigger.

  • if his 104 mph fastball is so unhittable. then how did ken griffy jr hit a grand slam off of him? he thinks he can throw it by anybody, when big league hitters can hit those pitches

  • hush you lesser being. you clearly do not understand my simple point.

  • you are turning a blind eye to my point too. open your eyes he has a 5 era. explain your way out of that one

  • most of the hits he gives up are on his 2nd/ 3rd tier fastballs in the mere mid 90s which are very hittable. once you get into the 100 mph area you become unhittable.

  • what good is 105 if you cant hit the strike zone???

  • If its close, hitters will tend to swing in the hoeps of hitting it, even though they cant see it.

  • he can throw strikes fuckbag.

  • when he does throw strikes they hit em. he has a 5 era this year buddy he is not effective

  • thats because of injury and ineffective offspeed. his rookie year he had a sub 2 era in 80+ innings. then injury plagued him. he wouldn't be in the pros if he couldnt throw strikes. dumbasses like you act like any mlb player can hit a 105 mph fastball. if you look at the numbers nobodies homered off a fastball faster than 98 mph this year. you can't touch a 103 mph fastball bc you can't catchup no matter where it is. don't be nieve asshole.

  • u can ken griffey touched zumaya i thik it got clocked at 100 mph and up...it said 104 mph but they conclude its 104mph off griffeys bat... but still it was 100 mph... altho ur right bout not everyone being able to to touch.. u have to be "lucky" somewhat

  • "...if you look at the numbers nobodies homered off a fastball faster than 98 mph this year."

Additionally, if you evaluate "the numbers", you will notice a disproportion among pitches thrown <98 MPH and pitches with velocities of less. For the sake of intellectual honesty, I think you need to consider that variable as well. Batters *can* connect with pitches of <100 MPH. Additionally, batters *can* hit home runs on pitches with such velocity. These occurrences refute your assertion.

  • "Batters *can* connect with pitches of <100 MPH." Most pitchers throw <100 MPH. < is less than. Love today's education right?

  • You're absolutely right. Good catch.

  • @RefutingStupidity except for Ken Griffey Jr. of a Zumaya 104mph pitch and oh yeah lots of other players...Idiot

  • @RefutingStupidity kg jr homered off a zumaya's 104mph fastball

  • This dude throws about 93-94 mph just WARMING UP. Jeez.

  • zuum zuum is crazy

  • he threw 105 in a game yesterday. hes just a set up man rightnow but if the tiges want to keep him they will make him a closer or else i could see him easily being a replacement for mariano rivera in new york. for now though rodney has been perfect as a closer this year and deserves this chance

  • fernando rodney is the closer

  • i think he s a starter

  • he is a setup man and short reliever.

  • 104.8 mph

  • Joel Zumaya's fastball has reached up to101mph. He's also working on a nice breaking ball.

Zumaya will eventually be the Tigers closer!
