  • @dawson272

yes Aylmer is tobacco country too. same with delhi.. but you have to be a complete FOOL to say that Tillsonburg is NOT tobacco country.

  • @kirkronic no i agree but i said tillsonburg in general.. likenorthern country, and western country.. the south and east of tilly burg def do have tobacco but, i do not believe that tillsonburg is the main area where most of the tobacco is produced.. should be delhi in the song lol

  • Hi, I'm a Yankee and I just love this guy. He's a Canadian Johnny Cash!!! COOL!!!

  • Johnny Cash is the American Stompin Tom

  • LOL! OK, Touche' on me

  • I've been to a lot of concerts in my day. Many in college and a ton for a nice weekend away as I got older.

Best concert ever was 1991 Canada day at Molson Park with the Tragically Hip.

That was, until I went to see STC in my hometown. Mid-90s and nothing has come close.

Everyone from the 6 year olds to the 86 year olds were up and clapping and stomping - pretty much the entire concert. It was truly amazing.

  • I just went to his concert in Saint John on Saturday night. The second Saturday in August has been declared Stompin' Tom day in Saint John. He;s such a great performer. He really knows how to work the audience. When people shouted to him he'd coolly answer back like he does here. Love Stompin' Tom haha.

  • was it full?

I was thinking of going, but I didn't know if there would any tickets left

  • No, not nearly. The lower bowl was barely full.

  • I should have went

  • hahaha I'm not sure I'll have to ask lollllll I wanted to go to make the xtra money but my parents wouldn't let me

and what's this about a boat hahahaha the Nith River never had boats lolllllllllllll must have been the Thames river hahaha The Mighty Nith he is fun I seen him in Hamilton too that is where I live now..I can still see those little green and red houses in the fields lol

  • the boat is what they call the machine used to pick tobacco.

still remember using that lava soap trying to get the tar off my hands.

  • The boat is not the machine. The boat was exactly that , a long narrow boat pulled by horses that tobacco leaves were laid in. In later years the priming machine replaced the boats and horses. You sat and piled leaves in baskets in front of you. The term boatdriver then referred to the guy who pulled the baskets on a wagon up to the kilnyard. Gasoline cleans the tar best. Lord my back aches , I primed in the Simcoe / Vanessa / Delhi area!

  • oh hahaha duh lol ok thanks for the info

  • :p lolllllllllll I grew up in Plattsville and I remember that wasTHE summer job hahaha I never did it ...just smoked the cigarettes hahaha alot of my friends went there though

    and if it didnt

he would of never made this song

    but it is true

    ever song he wrote

    and what it is about

    it happened

  • I have read Tom's biography and he really did pick tobacco there. He's a lot of fun, and despite his orneriness he really has well-informed and intelligent points of view despite the simplicity of his songs; his time spent travelling the country with no money and just his wits to keep himself fed, gave him an appreciation for everyone in Canada--French or English or First Nations--immigrant or old-family Loyalist. He still keeps it simple though. Gotta love him.

  • I used to go to tilsonburg quite a bit lol never seen a tobacco field just suburbs.. but its a great song and tilsonburg is fun I live in London Ontario

  • Somekid420:

Southwest Ontario is full of surprises. Like pumping oilwells?!?

My reason for going there is the wonderful Point Pelee National Park.

The National Park Service, like the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, is one of Canada's treasures. Regardless of which park you hit, the interpreters are uniformly excellent.

  • Man I live in London Ontario I used to live in Leamington been to point pelee to many times.. And yeah southern ontario is fun

  • With Tobacco on the way OUT, what else can ya legally grow? lol

  • good, fuck the government.

  • The government feels otherwise. You are a poor comedian but an excellent piper. Also, I am a powerful wizard, so you'd best watch out. That's it.

  • I'm proud to say i did my "time" in the tobacco fields of tillsonburg!

  • Why so much ignorance...I am a tobacco farmer and i would not have grown up anywhere else...Fuck all you dumb, uneducated City asses....If you don't like it here...then don't come back. No loss to us Pricks.

  • Tillsonburg is the Saskatchewan of Ontario....not one bloody tree or hill in sight. Couldn't live there if you paid me.

  • you obviously know nothing, i was raised in tillsonburg for 19 years, and proud to have worked in tobacco. our place in southern ontario was the #1 producer of tobacco for the ENTIRE world for almost 50 years. tonnes of hills, lots of forests, dumbfuck.

  • You're obviously smoking too much of the product. Where are you hiding all those trees and Hills?

  • i live in tillsonburg go tburg our hockey rocks!!! they made an awsome song

  • Stompin tom iss my hero....I raced in tilsonburg!!!
