These types of masacre don't happen in other developed countries where guns aren't so freely available. Politicians and popstars don't get shot at either. Yes, there are still homicides in those other developed countries, but far fewer per capita than in the U.S. It's your problem, and you can keep it if you wish. Possessing handguns (in the U.S. sense) has never been legal in the UK. I don't know where your facts statistics come from. The latest UK crime statistics show that UK citizens have the lowest chance of being a victim of burglary and violent crime since records began. I work for the Police Service in the UK as an investigative advisor and researcher. It's my business to know. Whilst there is still work to be done, the British police lead the world in crime prevention.
Recently, I did a report for a (Master's level) statistics course to determine correlation between more liberal gun laws and accidental shooting deaths. In US states where concealed carry was legalized (about 30 states over the last 20 yrs), not only did the murder rate drop measurably, but accidental shooting deaths dropped by 21%.
It was during this research that I found published stats from the UK....which consistently demonstrate big increases in crime since guns were taken away 10 yrs ago
