Its a type of Sea slug, many sport different colours and come in a variety of sizes and designs, I love these types of sea creatures, beautiful and very curious.

Cool. I live on Estero Bay and these can be found all around the area. The closest pictures I got was of one that swam up to our dock. This is definitely a sea hare (also referred to as a sea slug by some). It is definitely not a cuttlefish (although many people do think that they are from time to time as there are some similarities).

I have a Sea Hare in my fish tank. Same color, and size. I found it in the IC Melbourne Beach fl. It eats not only algea but almost every plant I put in there...it's a greedy thing...lol. It's pretty calm and crawls along like a slug. It flys around in the tank with those wings once and a while.

Its a Sea Hare (Stylocheilus longicaudata), like a sea slug or snail minus the shell.They appear to show up when nutrient levels are high in the water.They are harmless and,like an octupus and squid,can squirt a purple pink ink to ward off a threat.They also have an internal reduced shell,similar to the octupus.The wings doing the flapping-swimming motion are helping to circulate water over his gill so he can breathe,like how a fish pulsates the gill flap over its gills

Funny, I just spent the 5 days on Siesta Key and saw this exact fish and was scouring the internet to figure out what is was. The only thing I could find was this. We had had to push it away several times to keep it from swimming into the prop on the boat.

Thanks, that's helpful. This guy didn't look too healthy when we found him. We had to nudge him with a stick to get him to move.
