A classy band that transcended the so-called 'new romantic' movement of the early 80's. As their sound evlolved, it brought with it an element of refinement and urban elegance. 'Gold' is a prime example of this. Although, I always chuckle at the line of gold being 'indestructible,' when gold is actually quite soft — but maybe they mean metaphorically, as in finance!
