  • THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MOONWALK, CHECK OUT OLD SOULTRAIN CLIPS AND THE LA LOCKERS

  • Now I want to save the titles to all those movies! These are Classics that should be passed on from generation to generation!

  • So awesome!!

  • Incredible video! Jeff Daniels know he's a liar for even thinking that he invented the moonwalk lol.

Gotta love Sammy, Fred, Bill, Cab & Bojangles ♥ gotta love 'em all

  • Classic bro. When I tell people I saw someone moonwalk at my 5th grade talent show that was in 1978 nobody believes me!!!

  • The dancing at 2:47 in unearthly. Literally. It looks like he's gliding through space.

  • PLUS HOW SMART IS THAT TO LEARN FROM THE MASTERS,,,BIG G GAVE MIKE SOME BRAINS TOO...!

  • DANCE IS TO ASPIRE AND BE INSPIRED....HA MIKE JUST DID IT BETTER....!

  • who was at 3?25 i cant make out the faces

  • whi is at 2:11 astaire ? amazing

  • who is at 0:43?? this is mazing lol

  • who is at 0:38???

  • Although Michael learnt many techniques and moves by watching the greats, the moonwalk was not one of them. Michael did not create it nor did he ever claim to. The moonwalk's real name is the backslide, and it was created by street dancers and was performed on the streets for years before Michael did it. You can even see Jeffery Daniel, a street dancer, perform it in 1982 on TV, a whole year before Michael did it in Billie Jean.

  • Can I just point out that this video isn't about race, it's about dancing? Let's keep it that way, yes?

  • 11 people disliked this video.. unreal. Clearly.. no appreciation for dance. This was AMAZING !!

  • I'm glad Michael Jackson kept this piece dance history alive.

  • Wow I always knew Michael was influenced by other people but it's weird seeing people doing the exact same moves especially the last one when he posed with his hand in the air.

  • may i say that no one person could invent a famous dance move/music style....all of them originated from multiple people with similar ideas/thoughts of music and as the style moved..so did the ppl who improved upon it.....eg big mamas hound dog..improved greatly by elvis

  • This is a "slippery" video. =p

  • I can not believe it is amazing .....

  • i like it!! This is impressive!! Like Micharl said, He enhanced the moves, that he did

  • kiero esa pista tienen el link de descarga

  • E questo sarebbe moon walk? Ma sono goffi....Michael è anni luce + avanti!

    W Michael!

  • complimenti !!!!! Video belllllisssimo ^__^ Wuandefuuuulllll!!!!!!

  • Mj has always said his dancing insperation was jackie wilson. MIND BLOWN

  • Michael Jackson was good but some of those old dancers make him look average

  • One of my greatest moments in life was seeing Michael Jackson Live during HIStory Tour. He performed Billie Jean with the dance moves of Tap, Robotic and Moonwalk.

  • Waw, thank you for this video. This is why MJ was the greatest entertainer of the modern age, because of the great influence and inspiation he took from these guys.

  • Your vid is a favorite on Rabat

  • You should run this vid to the song "Footwork"... They fancy!

  • good work

  • BLACK PEOPLE CAN DANCE. THIS IS WHERE, FRED ESTAIRE, GENE KELLY, AND ELVIS PRESLEY COPIED THEIR MOVES FROM, BLACK PEOPLE.

  • @Ms1Brownchocolate I am black but I know that it isn't an issue of black or white, but the love of dance. Also making people happy through it

  • Michael Jackson sucker.Don't you see?0_о

  • What you talking about? This sucker Jackson never dance like them

  • MJ loved all those old movies - and saw them all. lot of his work was also inspired by the great late jazzdancer BOB fosse.

  • Michael Jackson does it better!!

  • and where's james brown????

  • some of those dancers you have in there didn't need to be in there....I think you just had extra footage you liked.

  • 3:21 that's what mj did at the end of some of his concerts, so that's where he got it from.

  • Fred Astaire has nothing to do with the "African American Dance" (NOTHING)

  • @blueman2bass Nope but he did have a hell-of a lot to do with jazz and dancing - educate your self with a couple of his movies - all dance stem from different people - and are not excluded only to african american dance.

  • WOW!

LOVE THIS. WHAT A BUNCH OF TALENTED PEOPLE HERE.

THIS IS GREAT AND I THANK YOU.

  • 0:48 THAT'S THE " STAND ON THE TIP TOE" DANCE MJ DONE ON MOTOWN 25, ETC.

  • What ever is brilliant was around long before michael jackson, i love michaels dancing but the dancers from the early 1900,s were inovators they set a ridiculously high benchmark to follow and i dont think any one realy has.

  • ALWAYS TRYING TO GIVE THE WHITE GUYS CREDIT FOR SOMETHING! HE NEVER SAID HE DID;NT LEARN THINGS FROM THOSE GUYS, BUT THEY NEVER HAD THE RHTYHM THAT MICHAEL HAD!!!!!! PERIOD.

  • Who is it at 2:46 - 2:53? That is exceptional.

  • Nice!

  • All the dancing of MJ is based on the great dancers from the past. F.e. James brown. Michael never made a secret of that. The amazing thing was that MJ added something 'michaels' to it and made it all look flawless

  • LOL I don't think I've ever heard MJ say he created the moonwalk. I have heard Boogaloo Sam say that he did though. Which is not true. I saw Jeffery Daniel's doing it before I ever saw Micheal anyway. MJ's worth ethic is what made the difference. He was arguably better than the guys who taught him, PopNTaco and Popping Pete.

  • how could you leave out Bob Hope and James Cagney? There are numrous films of them doing the EXACT Moon Walk back in the1930s!! And you can seem the doing it together in a biopic with Hope as Eddie Foy and Cagney as Geo. Cohan!

  • @jameszerukjr Cagney Yes he was awesome. Bob Hope not so much a dancer

  • Cagney Yes he was awesome. Bob Hope not so much a dancer

  • Holy crap in my pants that vid is nice!!

  • So many black people were creating, and innovating everything in music to dance I find it annoying when white people have to find a way to insert themselves as some sort of influence over black peoples musical traditions. Its insulting. History speaks for itself, and black people have been doing these dance moves since the cotton fields, and praise houses.

  • @84Drumcircle

ok you can have credit for creating dance moves

white people have invented enough things anyway like airplanes, cars, computers, television, telephones, trains, helicopters, the internet, radio, electricity

so you can keep your little dancing moves lol niggers

  • @BlueLeopard200 color tv was invented by a mexican

  • @BlueLeopard200 White people invented a lot of things... RACISM among all of them

  • You forgot to add Charlie Chaplin. He was an excellent Moon Walker & MJ was a huge fan of his.

  • well MJ was no slouch...he tap danced with the Nicholas Brothers. That is a medal of honor, especially when he was a teenager! find it on youtube. everyone in this video can do everything....mj had vision....he made music videos..he knew what looks good ....he perfected it..

  • Tha's dancing ! thank for charing ..

  • Actually MJ first saw the Moonwalk being performed outside the window of his limo on the streets of LA by some Breakdancers and Poplockers, some of them was hired to teach him the moves he saw, one was the Moonwalk. To be honest the Moonwalk was being performed by street dancers in the inner cities from the east coast to the west coast at least a year before MJ preformed it live on National TV. Motown 25 gave MJ Street credibility cause not only did we see him Moonwalk but Poplock as well.

  • Those people are chocolates !

  • That's dancing! Thanks for sharing

  • 2:45 dancing on grease/ice?

  • 2:22 lol, first Dangerous dance

  • Michael Jackson is god...

    Michael Jackson is god...

    Michael Jackson is god...

    Michael Jackson is god...

    Michael Jackson is god...

  • and?

  • I like how it's mostly black people lol ^_^

  • AMAZING AND FUNNY,THANK YOU

  • I loved every bit of the video. The dancers were amazingly talented and very smooth through their moonwalks. In one of the videos, I thought the guy was gonna fall off the table cos he was slippin' and slidin' everywhere. Overall, they're all great dancers, wish I could dance like that =]

  • MoonWalk is The BACK GLIDE ! :)

  • Ok, I can see that Michael Jackson is all those dancers rolled into one!

  • Great! Michael Jackson is the King Of Pop, because his moves are the best of the old ones...

  • 5 cant dance

  • Mind=Blown

  • man look at all those smooth dancers!! :D

  • The greatest education on earth, is watching the masters at work -Michael Jackson

  • @StreetArtillery So, y'see? You heard it from Master Michael Jackson, himself..

  • MJ Moon walk is classier

  • you are mixing up airwalk and moonwalk

airwalk = walking back but still staying in the same spot 0:49

  • YOu Can go even Further Back, and look at Joe Frisco for similar movement and style going all the way back to Vaudeville days. Precursors to Bill Bailey, Al and Leon, and Snake Hips

  • 0:49 this dance is where mj got it from, wow: "Michael Jackson - Billie Jean - Live in Munich - HIStory Germany Tour (1997) - HQ" at the timing of 09:01.

0:48 the standing on the tip toes, oh my.

    amazing <3

  • you should do a video w. MJ and James Brown :)

  • you totally forgot James Brown. ...another whom he imitated over the years!

  • THIS WAS WAY TOOOOO COOOOOL!!!

  • Very nice.

  • So crazy and so good!

  • i guess that michael jackson has been inspired by those artists :-) even the greatest artists on our planet has his influences and idols.

  • Somebody knows who's the guy from 0:54

  • Bubbles, of Buck and Bubbles.

  • Fabuleux document ! Génial. Merci.

  • I just loovveee this step! min 2:10 awesome!

  • you forgot the number one:

    James Taylor

  • True talent is 99% love which absorbes all the work of the greats who came before you, and 1% inspired improv which grows out of that love naturally like a flower. The results can be amazing as Michael Jackson shows us. Oh... and with dance, it helps if you're built for it as well, and Michael with his light and flexible frame certainly was.

  • Duh...Micheal Jackson was a pro tap dancer, just like these men were master tap dancers. Micheal looked up to these people growing up and watched them move and learned to dance like them. It makes perfect sense that he would use their moves. He never claimed to invent the "moon walk". people just gave him credit for popularizing it and making it iconic.Just like Galileo did not invent the telescope, and Tony Hawk didn't invent skateboarding.

  • the thing is this........these old guys were pure masters. they didn't need an edit after each move. they could dance the whole way through with no cuts and pure artistry. How much work to realize the inner genius. Bill Robinson, Fred Astaire, The Nicholas Brothers.....poise, grace panache, athleticism all there and they don't exist today. If the camera was allowed to pull back and really observe there ain't a dancer alive that could survive it except Glover in his prime and Hines.

  • Now that's what you call dancing instead of the young people today bumpin and grinding Michael knew how to keep the old dances looking new

  • what about David Bowie?

  • This vid was missing a proper end- have the billy jean baseline kickin with 30 seconds to go then show mj doing his thing

    somebody make it happen

  • @ironman9 O Michael é genio, apenas usou todos os estílos já existido, a aperfeiçou e torno o dançarino único.

  • 2:46 - 2:53 OMG! That man is so SUPER FUCKIN' AMAZING!

  • YEs!

  • soooooooooooooo great

  • michael studied the moves of clacket

  • Awesome!!!

  • Michael never said he invented the moonwalk. He said he perfected it. And he did!

  • @colaboytje

actually he said he ENHANCED the moonwalk and aimed for perfection. When did he say he perfected it?.. HE sure did enhance it.. NOBODY DID THE MOONWALK LIKE THE MOONWALKER HIMSELF... He glided so far and so smoothly without the jolting seen in the past (seen even in this footage).. MJ made it look like the scenery was moving behind him! LOVE YOUR WORK MIKE! =)

  • Thanks for this correction.

  • Nice video!!! Sum up all these amazing dance moves and you get Michael Jackson =) , of course add to it a little of MJ's own style ;D

  • Call me stupid but I never even thought about the origins of many of mj's moves. I am completely from his era in music and truly thought he was the first too moowalk.

Obviously there were many before im who either did the walk or a definite variation. I gues I ought to watch more old movies, mj may have tweaked it a bit but isn't funny how many of this moves disappeared for 20-25 years amd mj seemed to be the only one to bring them back. Of course he would hae been watching these people

  • i love it, I love it, I love it and.. I LOVE IT! It's so amazing, original, exotic, epic, and beautiful, I love it! is very exciting and so smooth as they do, is very beautiful I LOVE IT!

  • "Study the greats and become greater."--Michael Jackson

  • Many many thanks !!!

I found it so interesting. Your video description will help me to find more about all this great dancers.

  • lol 1:39

  • I appreciate this video...I don't care who uploaded it! Please list the performers...I recognize Sammy D, but not everyone else! These are amazing performances...Michael gave props these performers and perfected the Moon Walk. By the way, it was Jeffrey Daniels from Soul Train and Shalamar who taught Michael the Moonwalk.

  • i like the end bit.. Billie Jean is not my lover -- BAM! haaa

  • who is the guy at 38 seconds??

  • @unkannylyrics

  • @regelemufasa And yet, instead of correcting the caps, you just say you just noticed it now. xD

  • why michael jackson is better with that move

    he is

    magic

  • Do not rip off other YouTubers videos, broallen25. You took it from my former channel and uploaded it on July 2, 2009 (soon after MJ's death). I know there are many guys like you, so I guess it's useless to try to reason with you. If you like the video, just add it to your Favorites.

  • Way to steal my video bro. I thought we were better than that...I guess not.

Does Mom know you're a piece of shit thief too? I'll be there on Christmas Eve, you and I are going to have a heart to heart talk.

  • @broallen25 I agree with Abe. He was first, but Youtube removed his video. You got it from somewhere, but you didn't make this...
