WOW, It makes me sad I met an old machine repair guy about 2 years ago. He has a 18" Cincinnati Shaper and a Big planer like in this video. He was gonna set the planer up to scrape in milling machine tables, take most of the bow out before hand scraping. Both of theas machine are destin for the scrap yard at 9 dollars a 100lbs. Imagine 2500sqft. with only enough room to sneak by stuff piled on top of stuff. Thanks for the video~!
An ingenious mechanism. I've got a bit of a soft spot for planers and shapers. I have a little 3 foot table English made planer in my home workshop. It's a belt drive one but has equal size pulleys giving no quick return which is a pity. It also suffers from not having a leather drive belt which are difficult to get these days. My friend removed one that had been used to machine railway crossing frogs and point blades (turnouts, switches). It had a 150HP dc motor on it.
I don't know what this thing is -- but by God, I like it!
