Simple. It's a matter of opinion. I for one love "Hate Everyone", but that's my personal opinion...if it's number 1 in iTunes, then it means there's plenty of people who share the sentiment.
You know yet you ask why it's number 1 on iTunes. I simply made the effort to answer your question...and you don't have to take it as an attack as you clearly did with both the comments you sent to me, though 1 was mistaken.
As FLfreelance said, it's not considered their best, it's just the song they also made into a single (considering they even have a music video for it). And again, If the popularity meter on iTunes is up for that song, it's probably because people enjoy and want that song.

from what I've heard im really excited for the new album. a lot of the songs i've heard resemble some of their earlier stuff from like menorah/majora, baseball, and junior varsity. and thats my favorite say anything. but im thinking that could be because ive only heard a lot of the new songs acoustic.
I'm not saying not buying cds in favour of downloading is right, but artists get VERY little of the money made from record sales, it goes to the record labels. Artists rely on ticket sales and merchandise sales for the majority of their income. Again, not saying illegal downloading is right, but you have to understand that the money you pay for a cd isn't going to your favourite bands, its going to the record labels, and when you put it into perspective, they're pretty useless..
Basically, what I'm trying to say is, you're effectively supporting a band more by paying to go and see them live and buying a t-shirt whilst you're there than actually buying their albums
While its true the band sees more direct income from their Merch tables and shows, the cd sales are what allows them to stay on a label. And guess what? The label is what allows a band to continue to make music. Without the label theres no new quality music.
Also, your statement "Without the label theres no quality music", that couldn't be further from the truth. Rancid, Fall Out Boy and NoFX are just 3 examples of artists that have managed to create "quality music" from labels created by themselves, as an alternative to major labels. And please don't come back saying that the labels do give artists a lot of money, because music isn't (or shouldn't be) about money, it should be about the love of music. Within 10-15 years, labels will cease to exist.
A label's main purpose is to promote and distribute. Back in the 70's, 80's and 90's, a label was a major factor in the band of a band, but due to an invention called the internet, a band can self-promote through sites like myspace, youtube, facebook, last fm etc. and and they can distribute music through iTunes and online retailers as downloads, which is a much cheaper way of distribution. We're in the digitial age, label's really aren't needed anymore.
Thats my point, nothing needs to replace labels, in today's society self-promotion for bands is the way forward. We the fans won't have to pay ridiculous prices for CDs and a band can still have a large and much more loyal fanbase.

And yes I do realize this but we have 5+ people at my house they download music constantly its too time consuming to rip music from every single cd we own rather then downloaded a few specifics instead of the whole album. Not that I wouldn't want to have the whole cd. I do but theres only some that I would want on my ipod.
That's why the magical button known as delete was created, in response to you only wanting some on your ipod...you can also make playlists and segregate the music if only listening to some is that important to you...and importing music from a CD to iTunes only takes about 5 minutes...seems like the only thing preventing the people in your household from doing it is lazyness...not that I'm trying to offend, but that's what I see.
And considering how you couldn't figure out that little piece of common knowledge about iTunes, I don't have a doubt in my mind that if you ended up infecting your computer, you wouldn't know how to fix it if the answer flew through your window and hit you in the gut.

from what I've heard im really excited for the new album. a lot of the songs i've heard resemble some of their earlier stuff from like menorah/majora, baseball, and junior varsity. and thats my favorite say anything. but im thinking that could be because ive only heard a lot of the new songs acoustic.

I'm not saying not buying cds in favour of downloading is right, but artists get VERY little of the money made from record sales, it goes to the record labels. Artists rely on ticket sales and merchandise sales for the majority of their income. Again, not saying illegal downloading is right, but you have to understand that the money you pay for a cd isn't going to your favourite bands, its going to the record labels, and when you put it into perspective, they're pretty useless..

While its true the band sees more direct income from their Merch tables and shows, the cd sales are what allows them to stay on a label. And guess what? The label is what allows a band to continue to make music. Without the label theres no new quality music.

Also, your statement "Without the label theres no quality music", that couldn't be further from the truth. Rancid, Fall Out Boy and NoFX are just 3 examples of artists that have managed to create "quality music" from labels created by themselves, as an alternative to major labels. And please don't come back saying that the labels do give artists a lot of money, because music isn't (or shouldn't be) about money, it should be about the love of music. Within 10-15 years, labels will cease to exist.

A label's main purpose is to promote and distribute. Back in the 70's, 80's and 90's, a label was a major factor in the band of a band, but due to an invention called the internet, a band can self-promote through sites like myspace, youtube, facebook, last fm etc. and and they can distribute music through iTunes and online retailers as downloads, which is a much cheaper way of distribution. We're in the digitial age, label's really aren't needed anymore.

Thats my point, nothing needs to replace labels, in today's society self-promotion for bands is the way forward. We the fans won't have to pay ridiculous prices for CDs and a band can still have a large and much more loyal fanbase.

I'm kind of pissed. I spent like 3894242183419824 hours on itunes like two nights ago downloading say anything songs and songs from two tongues and they were all like either 30 seconds long or in the wrong format. anyone know where I could get it?

hahaha. well actually I don't buy my songs. I use limewire but if you have an ipod you should know that you have to use an itunes library to sync music to it.
all the music I put into my itunes music costs me nothing, so you pretty just made yourself look stupid as fuck.

if you buy a cd you are supporting a band.I want it on my ipod. I'm still going to download it whether I buy the cd or not. because buying the cd doesn't put it on my ipod now does it? the only reason I download music is to put on my ipod. sure I have the cds. I wasn't saying that I'd rather have free downloads than buy the cds. and just because you own the cd doesn't mean your a die hard fan. I'm sure there are people that bought it because they liked one hit song and never listened to it again

Whether you're stealing an entire album or just a few select tracks, that is still money the artist isn't getting for their work because people aren't gonna go out and buy what they can get for free. This is what separates you and me: you belong to the pool of people I just described, whereas I will still buy the album out of respect. Do I illegally download? Yes, I do. If the SA album leaks I'll download it. But I've also already pre-ordered the $89 and iTunes deluxe editions.

You're not very intelligent are you?...You realize, with iTunes, you can rip the music right off of a CD and have it immediately imported to your music library where you can sync it to your iPod? Obviously you didn't if you're spending the money to buy the CD AND risk your computer's health by downloading it illegally....and no, it doesn't matter how knowledgeable of Limewire your think you are, sooner or later you'll fuck up and plug a nice worm or trojan right into your computer.

And yes I do realize this but we have 5+ people at my house they download music constantly its too time consuming to rip music from every single cd we own rather then downloaded a few specifics instead of the whole album. Not that I wouldn't want to have the whole cd. I do but theres only some that I would want on my ipod.

That's why the magical button known as delete was created, in response to you only wanting some on your ipod...you can also make playlists and segregate the music if only listening to some is that important to you...and importing music from a CD to iTunes only takes about 5 minutes...seems like the only thing preventing the people in your household from doing it is lazyness...not that I'm trying to offend, but that's what I see.
