Finally NY gets a smart, strong female senator from upstate to represent the views of the vats majority of real new yorkers not just the left wing central park elitists who have never been north of white plains. One trick pony Idiots like Carolyn McCarthy who have accomplished nothing in congress are already screaming that they are going to run againts her. McCarthy is OUT of her league and would lose in a landslide. McCArthy WASNT EVEN CONSIDERED FOR THE JOB by the govenor.

@obamaayers If most people live in NYC (NYC has more people in it than some states do), then Upstate isn't really the "vast majority of real New Yorkers." What makes one a "real" NYer rather than a fake one?

Gillebrand is a terrible choice IMHO. I'm OK with her being pro-gun, but her 100% rating with the NRA is scary (I half-kiddingly say that membership in the NRA should be enough to bar one from ever owning a gun).
Most of all I loathe her fanatical pro-hunting position, and tax-funded subsidies to promote hunting, the pork she put in the farm bill, and her support of the disgustingly mis-named H.R. 2016 which effectivly seeks to turn all public land into game parks. She embarasses upstaters.

I just think its ironic that the states they give the most credit to for "safe" and "commonsense" gun laws have crime rates that are out of control. At least the NRA doesn't consider New Jersey the safest place to live in America.
As for Gillebrand I think she is a fantastic pick. Finally, New York will have someone REAL representing their state.

i am a british citizen, that belives in freedom of speach. and had no real view of this cult!!!!!. i watch the bbc panorama programe in full. your video clip is not a ture reflection. of the reporter or the programe. and the cult leaders behavior was far worst than the bbc reporter. maybe you americans should watch the programe in full. before you past jugement. i centainly have a clearer view of scientology now and it is not a good one. this is a cult. A fucked up one aswell.
