  • lol retarded kid

  • what the fuck is it dong in public??? it will infect others, you should contain it!

  • I've heard of Autism and I have a 2nd cousin who has it, but I don't know a whole lot about it.

  • She'd be about 8 now? Does she speak sentences fluently or is there still some gibberish? I found her responses to you very cute actually. "Buy toy!" But I can't tell if she was approving of your bribe or not from the tone. I still think she's adorable though. Does she object if you kiss or hug her?

  • I wish I knew more about Autism. I've never met anyone with it but I'm doing a report on it for school. It seems to me like there are different severities of it and many different symptoms that a person may or may not have. It affects so many and yet there are too many people who know so little about it. Does anyone know where I can get good solid facts about it that don't stereotype an autistic person?

  • @MadameTamma I have Autism. One fact is that we have random routines and any sort of interruption from these routines are very annoying to us(I was using a certain fork for eating, then one day my sister used and I started to cry).

  • @pinkfluff03 Thanks for info. I'll remember things like that for my research.

  • the wind is annoying

  • Boy - The comments on this video, even the ones displaying good will towards you and your child, show how autism is misunderstood by the overwhelmingly vast majority of people - including the professionals. What actually makes us tick is so far removed from the way we think it happens. Yet we have these concrete ideas on how we are supposed to behave and what we are to do about it when when someone 'misbehaves'. It rarely works and frequently makes things worse, but these paradigms still exist.

  • Incredibly brave of you to upload this and expose yourself to others' comments whether constructive, critical or just plain stupid. But if one person has gained a bit more insight into the disorder or perhaps picked up a clue as to what is possibly wrong with their child leading to early diagnosis, then you have done society a huge favour. As with the game of soccer, the observers on the sidelines think they always know best. May you, your little girl and your family be blessed.

  • you just have to reinforce her behavior is all. ABA helps.

  • yeah. nonverbal children maybe shouldnt play team sports! put her in gymnastics, dancing. maybe tennis. why put you re kid in a sport she's incapable of? setting ure kid up for failure is NOT COOL!!!

  • @gjesicca29 some nonverbal (and very low verbal) children do fine in team sports. verbal ability does not equal athletic ability or social 'ability'.

  • a lot of people who are special have understandings. She seems like one of those. I hope that life isn't too horrible for her.

  • @awesomepanda74 autism isnt something you get, you just have it and then get diagnosed at some point. in girls commonly later than boys as girls have a greater ability to mask behaviour and emotion. i personally think most people are on the spectrum somewhere, me included...

  • People seem to associate autism with boys. But 30 years ago I knew a little five year old girl who was autistic and it was my first and so far only encounter with autism and the first time I learned about autism.

  • are you a freemason?

  • if she is autistic, you should know that talking, talking, talking at her like that is not good.

  • hahaha love the attitude

  • when i grow up i want to be a pediactric neurologist. i love kids and i want to help.

  • she is too cute, church is way more important then soccer LOL

  • Comment removed

  • I can't hear over that annoying wind!!!

  • Troll screaming for attention? yeah you are pathetic.

  • Well start by hanging yourself.

  • @ChildhoodClassics well said

  • Are you just trying to be provocative so that you can laugh at people's (rightly) outraged reactions, while smugly laughing at how superior you consider yourself to be? You really are a pathetic loser aren't you?

  • Repeating the question is a stage in language development. Scripting can be useful. Bribery.... hmm.

  • im severly autistic and i have adhd but she is not pressuring her kid to talk so leave her alone

  • god bless her

  • I didn't realize that only 40% of people with autism can speak!! God Bless her : )

  • ignorant statement. in fact this is probably how she got her to start speaking. persistence

  • have you thought about removing artificial colors from her diet? my daughter her ADHD and autistic and it has helped her a lot. just mentioning cuz i noticed the orange soda and the hot dog with red #40.

  • Hi, sorry about the two stars rating. It was a mistake.

  • It happens to me at times, so I rated with 4 stars.

  • She seemed like a normal baby until she was 16 months old then she stopped speaking and lost her eye contact. It took us a few months to figure out what was up - we thought maybe she was deaf..it turned out she was autistic. I dont mind questions. She is considered severly autistic, but she now can speak. Only 40% of people with autism ever speak so we are very lucky.

  • @seymoursheep She's beautiful. And cute. My nephew is 10 and can't speak. He can make unintelligible sounds and yelps but not form words. He needs help going to the potty. Your child can not only speak, but understand what you're saying, which is good. I don't know how difficult it is for you, but based on my nephew, you have my condolences.

  • @seymoursheep Hi, she is gorgeous and adorable. :) I am really interested in autism and aspergers, and would love to dispel of the preconceptions about it.

What does your daughter enjoy doing? I've heard that a lot of autistic children are naturally talented at music and/or maths, and that their memory is very good.

If I may ask, do you know why she developed normally until 16 months, and then suddenly started showing symptoms of autism?

    Does she understand different emotions?

    Thanks. :)

  • no, not at all. She is a happy child. Before, when she couldnt speak she would scream because she was frustrated....and she got frustrated a lot...but that only was for about a year...and now she is a very happy little girl who dances and plays and sings. She may not have a normal life, but now that she can tell me how she feels I will ask her "are you happy...and she says yup :)

  • Yup...she is my superstar...she was diagnosed when she was 3..and now she is almost 6

  • In this case she is diagnosed as autistic. I agree with you that children are not little adults...and I wasnt trying to make the point that she should negotiate with me like an adult, or interact with me on that level.

  • You are right that kids dont have the understanding to interact as adults, but neurotypical (normal) children learn by watching and imitating...autistic children dont have the ability to do that because they are often trapped in their own world. It is painful for my daughter to come into our world at times..but she is a fighter and is doing marvelously. A lot of things she is doing in this video are normal....but that is what makes it so AWESOME...

  • tell me if you agree...

but i dont think you can classify children as autistic because alot of kids are like that,

as kids dont have enough knowledge and understanding to interact like an adult

  • This video is actually pretty amazing to people who know my daughter because 6 months before this she wasnt speaking at all...and as she is sitting at the table with me now eating breakfast, she is way beyond where she was in that video for speech...it is amazing...she still cant really socialize with us the way other children who are 5 (almost 6) can...but she can speak in sentences.

  • Autism is a neurological/biological condition. it is also a spectrum disorder so people with it are all different. To be classified as autistitic she has deficits in 3 areas, social, communication, and she also has severe processing disorders and needs repetion to calm herself (hence the flapping of hands, or spinnging, or rocking you sometimes see)

  • okk thanks for telling

im new to autism, i don't know much about it, so excuse me for being a bit ignorant on the subject

  • not a problem...I wouldnt call it ignorance to ask questions. It is better to ask and have healthy discussions than to be close minded I have always thought...

  • Exactly. There is a thick cloud of ignorance surrounding autism. Paticularly in the anti-vaccination camp. They use emotion to substitute for rationalization. They rely on conspiracy theories rather than facts. My video on autism attacks the curbies like Jenny McCarthy by showing their ignorance. Too often autistics are exploited for an agenda by various organizations.

  • @aspie101 The thing I've never understood is why some people treat Autism as if it is a death sentance for the parents or the child.
