You know what is funny, all these people who are posting comments like "stupid pot smoking hippies" and shit like that are seriously idiotic. These people are Yippies, I knew political Ideology started around this time period to ensure peace and get us out of Vietnam, there were hardly any hippies at all, these people are actually trying to make a change in government, hippies just sit around all day doing nothing

first i have to say English is not my main language, so theres no need to insult. And i have read my history i did a small thesis on how the people of the counterculture change the way the United States works. So dont tell me i have not done my research. So i can tell you that this people did change the way we look at the word and live our life today.
And again pleas forgive me for my lack of knowing English, not the entire world is fluent in English.

@falulabond what you left out was that this revolution didn't change our mind set, it changed how we see our mind. the other races were no longer inferior in anyway. and so more opportunity's for equality arose. it did not however in any way change democracy. the only diffraction is that we now have many black politicians and even a black president. so the next time you have a thought like that. please just save it because your rewriting a very important time in America's history.

@StoneFredFlint I don't think it's bizarre at all if there is latent hostility, considering that it seems as if the problems of the 60s were not truly resolved, merely suppressed. And so it makes sense that the same antagonisms remain. Just my opinion.

As a Chicagoan who experieinced this period I can tell you that threats to disruppt every aspect of the city's life were being madweekly by the same outsiders who BEGGED the CPD to arrest them. The entire city was behind the CPD. Stay the hell out of Chicago Bums, it is ours!!!

Americans then were fed up with war and many other issues.
Most of them were young, but today, people of all ages and in record numbers are fed up with government, war, the economy, and a lot of other things.
The 1960's were better times than today, and the pot never boiled like it is now.
If Obama and/or the government does not make things better, you will see riots and other bad stuff like you never saw before.

I disagree that mass rioting will incur...and I also disagree that the 60's were better times. Today's avg. American really doesn't care about war. As long as he has a car, house, and other worthless material items in excess, he's blissfully sedated. The 60's were better times? That's just a stupid thing to say. In the 60's, the Russians had pre-emptive nuclear strike ability; anyone who was aware of the happenings of the late 60's will tell you that the world seemed ready to end.
