@MegaBleachy The movie is called 'Tales from Earthsea' and it is directed by Goro Miyazaki, who is the son of Hayao Miyazaki. Hayao Miyazaki is the Director of Mononoke Hime, so it's not surprising that you find similarities. Both movies are created by the film studio 'Studio Gibli'.

kokoro can refer to either heart or mind. kokoro truly refers to one's spirit which is synonymous to heart and mind. (I'm not bashing you, just helping)

@firestarwarrior12853 Well it could be translated as mind since 心 (kokoro) is more of the spiritual/metaphorical heart/mind as opposed to the organ pumping blood around inside you (which would be (心臓 'shinzou'). So it's more up to personal interpretation as to what exactly you translate it as. Don't get me wrong or anything, "heart" is a perfectly good translation, it's just that I wanted to point out that "mind" is necessarily wrong :)

@evanalian actually, the truest sense of the word kokoro is somewhere between heart and mind, being that there is no direct equivalent in english, though a close try would be 'soul' there is already another word that translates nicely into 'soul' from Japanese.

In my opinion, in this context, kokoro is best understood as 'mind' here, though it should not be totally separated from the idea of 'heart'.
