What brand of capacitors are those? I hope they were Chhsi, Teapo, or CapXon - that's all that they are good for.

I used to do this in the tv repair shop when I was bored. We had a variac transformer you can adjust it 0-120v.

I'd hook up a small cap to it and blow it up.

I'd advise you wear safety glasses and there's this stinky smoke that comes out, don't know if maybe it's bad to breathe it.

best to put the cap inside a jar etc.

kind of funny , i had an old set top box(digital tv thingy from a friend) it stopped working.

i put metho on it and lit it on fire, and after about a min there was fire works type cracks. most likely the caps exploding, and about 5 secs after the bangs i could hear them landing on the roof of the house, the carport roof and the shed. i would say the blown off end cap of them.

pity my cam wasnt charged up.
