@lalacooks Thanks for the tip, I used fresh okra! I spent a good amount of time preparing all the ingredients the way you recommended, and I had no idea how it would turn out. I can happily say I have never gotten such a huge reaction from people from a meal, this recipe is absolutely delicious, thank you so much for sharing this gem with us :)
im very impressed with this recipe. my wife is from new orleans and we both agree that this is very authenic and very tasty, coming from a kitchen chef of 25 years, im very impressed with your recipes and your kitchen knowledge. thank you for sharing.
I just did it for my family tonight for dinner. This recipe is the best i had found on youtube. My husband was having a craving for it and the results were amazing. It is a MUST try and please, do exactly as she says. Do not try to chance anything, you wont regret. This recipe is a keeper for us. Thank you so much for sharing.
haha that lil add in the end, looks like your arm was hurting, good recipe! I like how you quickened up the process with the already cooked chicken. At my house we always had to cook the chicken, then add it to the gumbo.
Thanks! Glad you liked it. Just thought it might be an easier step - anything that can cut down the time and make it easier without compromising the flavor is always worth it in my book! :)

How is the okra prepared before you add it, can you put it in raw? Thanks!

@First4Freedom I would use raw or frozen okra, if you cook it ahead of time you will have to deal with all the "slime" :)
