  • cool

  • It is so hard to tune these from scratch. Each note can take up to three or four hours, and the length of the resonators, although fixed, still take time to tune properly. Not brilliant playing, but he never said he was a percussionist. Good luck with your science projects.

  • this is not a marimba!

  • Calm down, people. Do you really expect these instruments to be professional-grade? Science Olympiaders have to make these from scratch. Even building something simple can take hours.

    Hope you guys placed well!

  • WTF????????????????

  • WTF!!!! that is the wierdest marimba an mallets ive ever seen!!!!

  • @Guitar884 they were hand made, we were not allowed to use professional mallets.

  • wtf in the world is that a marimba? a marimba is usually like 4-6 octaves. and woo hoo you played the most overplayed song. badly. sorry

  • i made this marimba for science olympiad. We had regulations and we were only allowed 2 octaves and one note.

  • @trophymursky ahh, science olympiad memories. lol

  • HA a six octave marimba is classified as usual?

  • @timpanigirlzrule2010 Why don't you post some of your badly played timpani videos? That would be awesome, then we could mock you.

  • I'm so proud for you! I've dreamed of making my own marimba, but you actually did it. Glad I'm not alone. It's a beauty. Great job! Thank you for inspiring the world.

  • @Musicman11389 thanks a lot

  • yeah that was like half the actual speed

  • what division are you in for science Olympiad? last year i made a pvc instrument for science Olympiad

  • this was c division in the 2006-2007 season

  • ohh...a little before my time

  • i think the notes are right, but its kinda slow but good job

  • wow wat mallets lol

  • someones mowing the lawn in the back...

great job though glad to see motivation :D

  • what materials did you use?

  • the keys were mahogany, we later stained it. The base was pine painted blue. The resonators are pvc pipe spray painted gold. There is a piece of plywood to hold the resonators in. the mallets are just a dowell, a circle piece of pine. and yarn.

  • haha, I made a guitar for Science Olympiad, but i've always wanted to make a marimba. Good job.

  • this one was good too...
