I'm a bit new to all this, admittedly, but is there a way to secure the top at all (the main compartment)? I guess I was hoping to see some zippage for padlocking. But thanks very much for the video--delivered the info I was after! Cheers!
@because88 Hi you can buy what id consider a a steel mesh which covers your whole pack which can be padlocked and i think is called a pack safe! could be wrong but do some research and youll find what im talking about ok.
@djclarky1982 Good suggestion (although the hobo traveler doesn't like them for some reason). In the end I went for a travel bag (a Black Wolf Cedar Breaks) similar to Lowe Alpine TT. Not so good for bushcrafting, but I can lock it up if I need to.
Got a hole on my 66ltr pack in 'exactly' the same place as you have (even the same strap) . Odd, isn't it. Design flaw? Considering I'm carefull to lift the loaded pack with the actual lifter strap rather than shoulder straps, it's a mystery how it occurred. It can be re-stitched but I'm more intrigued about how it wore through in the first place. Perhaps we should pass this issue to Highlander as feedback?
@0rigiin With regards to the hole, are you right handed as i am? Even though we try to be careful when picking it up, I must admit im not always gentle with it! To be honest, ive had this bag for 2 years now and that small hole is still the only damage!! Ive noticed that this bag has recently gone up in price.
You can get this rucksack from Becketts the army and navy army surplus store in norwich for £78.99, it is a brilliant rucksack and i agree with this guy completely.
@F08M I agree with you on the weight issue. It is a heavy bag, especially if you leave the aluminium poles in their sleeves (not sure if the 66ltr version has them?). Ebay does seem to have some good deals on this range. Thanks for the constructive comment!
I've decided to go for this rucksack after seeing this review, instead of a £150 Berghaus Vulcan or Karrimor one - they're probably better made than this one, but I'm not going to murder it on my hiking. Looks like a good value piece of equipment - not gucci, but good enough. Thanks.
great review mate that looks like a well made bag putting aside that fray! i love the green colour of it as well. i bet theses are pricey though aint they?

@because88 Hello mate. There is no way to padlock the top opening unfortunately. Glad you found the review useful.

How much was your 99 originally? I see it for about £59.99 now.
'Apparently' Prince Harry used the Highlander packs in training.
True or not, I don't know. But it helps with marketing I'm sure :D

@0rigiin Indeed it probably would! :¬)

Great rucksack for the price. Got mine last week, very happy with the build quality, and plenty of space.

@DavidEC1984 Mine has taken serious abuse over the last year and its still in excellent condition. In my mind, its a tough rucksack!

@Alloutdoor1 - Fair enough, admittedly I have the 33 litre version and that seems better than its price!
