I wouldn't be too put out by the negativity of the native Americans responding to this video. While one respects their desire for privacy/secrecy, this knowledge touches the entire world not just the First nation population.

No problem. Thank you for the kind reply and delicate response. They really are fascinating though, and the Southwest tribes have an amazing and rich culture not seen anywhere else.

unhappy and continue to discourage the drawing and photgraphing of kachinas. (yes, I realize there's some gray area especially when it comes to Native American art but traditionally pictures and photographs of the kachina is taboo.)

@phoenixicarus One last thing. When I say that photographing is discouraged, I really mean that it is not allowed. Period. Certain dances and ceremonies are not allowed to be seen be outsiders (those that have not been initiated into the Kachina's kiva) and cameras, for example at the Zuni Shahloko, are strictly forbidden. I should also mention I'm an enrolled member of the Navajo tribe.

Thank you very much for your explanations, Will. I really do not remember the website where i've found these informations but anyway i've delated the part concerning Navajo. I'm not a true expert about these dolls, i've made this video just because i liked these pictures.

Point of information regarding your description. Navajos are not a pueblo indian tribe. I've never seen a Navajo kachina doll, plus, Navajos dancers or representations thereof are not called Kachinas, Kachinas are somethng totally different than the Navajo Ye'ii. Further, the significance of Zuni kachina dolls DO carry a highly reverent and religious significance. I wonder where you inferred that. Lastly, the depiction of kachinas is taboo. Traditional Hopis and Zunis are still (cont.)
