@JL14JL This is brady talking about jack wilshere - "I've heard a few people say he reminds them of me and that's a bit of a compliment to me, because the kid is so talented. I'll certainly take that"
The greatest player to ever come out of Ireland was Liam Brady - not George Best.
Best left Manchester United to to pursue a glittering career playing for Dunstable Town, Stockport County, and Cork Celtic.
Liam Brady left Arsenal to pursue a career in which he was instrumental in helping Italian giants Juventus to winning two consecutive Seria A Championships, before successful spells with A.C. Milan and Sampodoria.
@2bsom1 Best was over-rated and over-hyped by the British tabloids, and he couldn't handle the pressures of fame, retiring at 26 for God's sake, ridiculous.
Best doesn't even make it into a recent poll of the world's top 100 players as determined by achievement in football, the only Irishman to make the list is Man. Utd's Roy Keane, and he was no way near as good as Brady.
@KenfromDublin u cant aways judge a player by achievents, mat le tissier never won a thing,as for keane he may not have the skill or brady or best ,but he has other things to bring to the party, determination, workload and effort
@KenfromDublin I'm brazilian and I agree with you. I've watched Brady playing for Juventus (as well as against us I think in 88), and I became instantly amazed by his talent and inteligence. He reminded me southamerican playmakers like Socrates or Falcão.
I've watched recently 2 matches of George Best and although he was a great dribbler and had a lot of pace, he looked like just a very good winger. I truly don't know why some people put him in the same level of Pelé, Cruyff or Beckenbauer.
Related to the man, but never actually met him although I've been back to Ireland plenty of times. Too bad not more of his supreme skill's rubbed off on me! :)
Thank you for this tribute. Brady is my favourite Gunner of all times. I remember when he first started and how easily he dribbled past players almost in slow motion and his passes were so accurately placed and timed. The young gunners don't realise how lucky they are to have him.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
No offence Arsenal fans but that goal return is actually quite poor over a career for someone so (allegedly) gifted. Small wonder you had to plunder Africa and Holland and France and Spain to get a team that was half decent. With a frog coach and an Arab Emirates stadium. I'll see your Brady and raise you a Hoddle :)
it's incredible , you don't remember that Brady in Italy also played for SAMPDORIA with Trevor Francis , Mancini, Vialli and for INTER F.C. with Rumenigge Altobelli etc. etc. and he won many different cups......
i hope little jack wilshere is half the talent as brady is if thats the case then weve got outselves a gem! love u liam ur always a legend to the gunners!
@mericolosa every video i go on there u are talking shit!!! u dont have a clue, liam brady is a legend at arsenal!!!! what is it with u and rte commentary?? did eamon dunphy call ur ma a slag????
Im too young to have followed his career properly, but from the video and his reputation, it's clear that dribbling was a big part of his game. Something neither scholes or beckham can really say. Scholes can beat a man sometimes, but never had the pace to be as effective at it.
My comments were borne of interest in football: why else would I bother watching this clip? But you are so thick & quickly found your base level.
Would that be the same Giggs & Scholes who have 2 Champions League winner's medals & 1 runners-up: as opposed to Brady who has 1 FA Cup & 2 league titles?
...& everyone bullies Arsenal: they are the fannys of world football. A real club with values: always cheating & they don't like it up 'em; except for Sol Campbell of course.
Trust an Arsenal fan to measure "worth" in anything that does not have to involve titles, medals or actual tangible achievements.
Would that be the same Ryan Giggs who scored "that" goal against you? And Paul Scholes is just a genius, who in his pomp was twice Fabregas' talent.
... and that apparently functional United team that didn't win the Champions league last year still managed to humiliate the rear gunners at their own ground on the way to the final.
@mattysavage Scholes is abetter player than both of them, when Giggs and Zidane were both asked about the best players they have seen, they both said Paul Scholes!
@mattysavage too be fair ryan giggs and paul scholes are great players (even though scholes is dirtyer than a whores knickers) but they have had a lot longer to make there mark on the premiership than fabregas has, you forget he is only 22.... scholes was no wear near the player cesc is when he was that age....
The mans a god. As a kid I idolised him. Wrote to Terry Neil asking for one of liams shirts but never got one. Still look out for his name. Ask anyone who was a fan at that time as to their favourite player, I bet you 95% say Liam Brady.
Its "they're two," not the way you spelt it. I saw Brady playing for Ireland many years ago, he was lazy, he didn't track back, and he was a lousy tackler. He was unable to inspire a team that badly needed inspiration, they suffered some humiliating results even when they were at full strength. Who are you to tell me I don't know my football?

BukowskiPineapple 2 years ago
....and you have a stupid nom de plume.
Brady was good but not a great as Scholes or Giggs have proven themselves.
As I stated, Brady had a range of attributes from all three but was essentially just a slightly more dynamic Kevin Sheedy.
mattysavage 2 years ago
Oh you mean how Giggs and Scholes proved themselves last year in the Champions league final ?
Yeah , real pass masters of the ball. The might be alright at bullying shite English teams but neither of them have ever dominated a European match.
Brady on the other hand was a beast for both Juve and Ireland.
You enjoying the piss poor brand of football you shite hawks are playing this season ?

2 Jam bag champions league titles. Trust a glory hunting prawn sandwich eater to use medals as the sole determination of a players worth.
Neither Giggs nor Scholes ever commanded a pitch the way Brady did.
They won those champions league medals playing for a functional united team, who were happy to concede possession and try and snatch a goal.
